Let’s not get too cocky. We should be aiming to improve our list every year and given we gave virtually nobody new a chance to play AFL this year, it might be a risky strategy going forward.

Not sure how you define “chonky” but I recall one Luke Hodge who fitted that description when he was drafted and I reckon it didn’t do him any harm (although he did tone his body a bit once he got into the AFL).

Now is the time to start taking notice of the phantom drafts which should take these into account.

We have pick 37 or thereabouts on draft day. If our recruiters think he’s a worthwhile proposition then I’m sure they’ll consider taking him.

In the Eastern Football League Premier Division, the B & F was won by a former Melbourne rookie Max King. He tied with a player from Norwood (the Melbourne suburban club, not the one from the SANFL). The Division 2 medal was won outright by another former Melbourne AFL and Casey Demons VFL player, Tim 'Bull' Smith, now at South Belgrave.

Definitely, until his playing future is resolved. If he does end up going back to WA, we can expect that to be a game changer for Melbourne which will suddenly find itself with a couple of high draft picks. LJ was taken at pick 3 and the club has invested three years of learning into him so that whoever he plays for in the next ten years will have an elite player for 10 years. That’s at least two top 5 picks and a player. If he goes, then I would imagine that the Demons would try to gain Brodie Grundy as well as to pick up a young potential ruckman and one key position forward. Twomey’s form guide has some good prospects within a reasonable range that the club could aim to get. About a week ago I mentioned in the Jackson thread - “Two key players in that draft pick conundrum might be South Australians Isaac Keeler (197cm) and Harry Barnett (202cm) who are both capable of being developed as key forwards or ruckmen.
