NAB AFL DRAFT COMBINE
Rachele looks amazing. Iām not sure as to whether he would fit into Melbourneās thinking but he might end up at Gold Coast with pick 3 (after the father/sons 5).

In Jason Taylor we trust!
Good get. He was pick 33 in the 2018 draft but didnāt get an AFL game until this year.

The Trade in Draft Picks
Because clubs whinged and whined about compromising the draft and the advantage to the Bulldogs in drafting Ugle-Hagen at pick one so the AFL did something about it. Clubs are now prevented from matching bids on NGAās in the top 20 (next year it goes to 40). Personally, I think thatās a gross over- reaction.

Who needs a big preseason at the MFC?
Obviously Sam Weideman needs to step up on the past few years so he needs a big season. I think Bailey Laurie after missing most of 2021 and not playing much in 2020 due to Covid-19 has to also have a big pre season, get really fit and bull up to put himself in the frame for selection.

I read this on another site about JTās drafting accomplishments - 1st rounders Christian Petracca Angus Brayshaw Clayton Oliver Christian Salem Luke Jackson Kysiaih Pickett Jake Bowey (pick 21) Later picks Trent Rivers (pick 32) Tom Sparrow (pick 27) Jayden Hunt (pick 57) James Harmes (Rookie) Alex Neale-Bullen (pick 40) Charlie Spargo (pick 29) Bayley Fritsch (pick 31) Harrison Petty (pick 37) Talk about nailing them!

Millionaire Ex-Demon
What a sliding doors moment that would have been for Dylan Grimes and the family. Jack was getting established with the club and the Grimes clan were committed Demon fans but that rookie draft selection of Dylan was significant because heās become a triple premiership player with Richmond while Macdonald was at best serviceable over a much shorter space of time. Another bad choice of player in a sad and regrettable time in the clubās history.

Sam Paea
Will he be one of the players being tested for the draft at Sandringham next Monday?

Welcome to Demonland: Taj Woewodin
The article on Woewodin also refers to Josh Cripps and says he āwould love to play in the AFL alongside his brother, Carlton captain Patrickā.

The Deakin Pereira Thread
Good luck to Deakin. College sport in the USA is a big deal. They attract big crowds and the larger colleges get nationwide exposure on tv. Hope to see him soon on ESPN.

Forum Footy Interest
Good if we could get Neville Jetta's brother and his father to play like we did against Carlton :)

I donāt understand this. Lynch is a damn good ruckman. Possibly the only one who had the better of Max Gawn all year.

Bobby Hill
Blast from the past Colin Wisbey on the Collingwood In Black n White Board when mention was made that the Pies had put in an offer for Hill ā¦ āplayer who thus far gets little ball, kicks few goals & tank good for only 50% or so gametime.ā

Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17
The club put on a function for a small group of supporters a few days before the draft. JT and Todd Viney spoke. It was very clear that in their view it was between McCartin, Petracca and Brayshaw followed by daylight and Jake Lever wasnāt in the top ten. I donāt think Lever was even mentioned. Most of us left the evening believing we were going to take McCartin. Happy to get views from others who were there.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
The problem in assessing yesterdayās game was the fact that both sides missed 3 or 4 top players which meant an automatic diminishing of the standard of football which was not helped by the windy conditions at an open ground. I donāt think Thebarton Oval was such a good venue and assume the Adelaide Oval is being prepared for cricket. If youāre looking for a ruck prospect, none of the ones on show yesterday would qualify IMO. Williams would be a part timer at best - like TMac or Weed. When the two states played a month ago, WAās ruckman looked ok but nowhere near as good a prospect as Toby Conway of Geelong Falcons who is the best of the young crop and I reckon would be available in the mid 20s.

Mac Andrew
Late in the draft period the media guys usually get the top ten pretty close and then it veers away from there. Logical really because the top five or so usually stand out and the next five arenāt that far behind. Itās after then that the discrepancies occur. Often this happens with players who are difficult to categorize. Mac Andrew is one of those players because heās so different to the usual draft prospects that we see. Have we ever seen such a raw project player feature so high in draft calculations before?

If someone is most certainly top ten then you really have to be ācertainā. There are 18 clubs and they all have at least 4 or 5 on their recruiting staff. Using your criteria, there might be more than 50 players who are top ten. And none of that means he still would make top 10.

Itās going to be interesting to see what Fremantle can get from GWS for Rory Lobb. If they donāt want to pay part of his wages then you would expect that they wouldnāt expect much.
