TEAMS: Rd 16 vs Adelaide
Mitch has done okay on the rare occasions he’s been given an opportunity. It’s true that he didn’t shine against Collingwood when the team was very much under the pump with multiple injuries but quite a few others also let us down. He came back to the VFL last week and was on fire kicking 6.6 so I think he deserves a chance. The question if he plays is which of the Browns plays the second ruck role and which plays key forward? Or do they have a bit of a merry go round with Weid and both Browns sharing the ruck and forward duties between them?

2022 NAB AFL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
I just watched the dying moments of the SA v VIc Country game and it was a real thriller with VC’s Harley Reid taking a couple of strong game-saving marks. And yes juniormac, I understood those comments.

Welcome to Demonland Kynan Brown
Kynan Brown had another good day at the weekend according to Rookie Me Central - #44 Kynan Brown In just his second NAB League outing, the bottom-aged Melbourne father-son candidate topped his side’s disposal chart with 25, including four scoring shots. After a steady start, he began to come to prominence with in-and-under work at the contest, producing second and third efforts aplenty to help will the ball out. He also provided a good deal of drive in the second half, bursting forward and kicking a clutch goal to draw level in the final quarter. That touch of polish is something Brown can refine going forward, though his effort was evident

Welcome to Demonland Kynan Brown
Played for Oakleigh Chargers as a bottom age player at the weekend. From Rookie Me Central ~ #55 Kynan Brown “One for Melbourne fans to watch as a potential father-son candidate, Brown (son of Nathan), produced some exciting moments in his NAB League debut. The hard-at-it midfielder got a run through the engine room and also impacted up forward, snaring two goals from 17 disposals and four inside 50s. Both of Brown’s majors were fair efforts, particularly the second term snap which he seemed pretty pleased with. Still a bottom-ager, there’s some exciting traits to work with.” 2022 NAB League Boys snapshot: Round 7 Height 180cm DOB 13/01/2005

2022 Injury List
Given Howes’ injury (navicular stress facture) is of the sort that could easily blow out beyond that time frame, the club might give consideration to putting him on the long term injury list to allow it entry into the midseason draft. Tough call but how much of a season can the kid have even if he’s right to return by Round 20?

NON-MFC: Round 07, 2022
Saints looked really cooked in the heat and humidity of Cairns. Wonder what the effect would be on them if they had a few instances of Covid19 through the club this week?

2022 NAB AFL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Disagree. We might not need a rebuild but it’s still important for us to keep improving by restocking with future players. We have the advantage of being able to take our time with player development because of our current depth.

Mac Andrew
Going forward a few years this is going to make an interesting topic. Gold Coast used what was effectively its only real draft pick (No. 5) to draft Big Mac. Adelaide went for Joshua Rachele with pick No. 6. Hawthorn got Josh Ward with No 6 and Josh Gibcus went to Richmond for No 9. A few others have already played for their AFL teams. Andrew has yet to play and still looks very light for AFL. Will he make it?

2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
It comes with the territory in this sort of competition. Players aren’t playing for the jumper. They are there to attract the attention of the scouts because their future careers are on the line. The smart ones however, do realise that doing “team” things is important and is taken into account in player assessments.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
Jon Ralph seems to be running some form of campaign to get Ben Brown’s MRP suspension increased to 3-4 weeks. That’s ludicrous when you look at the outcome. Not normally into conspiracy theories but he is with the Herald Sun and didn’t they run a nasty little campaign against our coach in the off season?

Does anyone know about Melbourne’s NGA players for 2022? I heard that we had another good NGA prospect coming through the ranks.
