  1. IMO, North are giving up the most in my proposed deal, maybe WC could contribute 23 and we could throw in 42 back. North have enough picks already so 23 and 42 aren't much value to them. https://www.zerohanger.com/afl/afl-draft-order-2023/ WC give 1 + 23 get 2 + 6 + 42 - result: 2, 6, 37, 42, 58 North give 2 + 3 get 1 + 11 - result: 1, 11, 15, 17, 18, 57 MFC give 6 + 11 + 42 get 3 + 23 - result 3, 23
  2. The only way I can see that is happening is: MFC give North 6 + 11 for 3 North give WC 2 + 6 for 1 That means North give 2 + 3 to WC for 1 + 11
  3. Dan Curtin said he models himself on Pav - just sayin' ...
  4. I make it that 42 comes all the way in to 41 on draft night. Five Academy and F/S selections push it out: Walter, Read, Rogers (Suns), Croft (Dogs), McCabe (Hawks) The Suns have 6 matching picks before 42 which will get eaten up but the Dogs and Hawks matching picks are all after 42, so it will come in by 6 picks. https://www.zerohanger.com/afl/afl-draft-order-2023/ 42: out by 5, in by 6 - becomes 41
  5. Two first rounders as a pre-Agent in 2024 or one as FA compensation in 2025.
  6. Jack Billings is definitely worth a try ahead of Harmes and Jordon.
  7. Petty will be gone to Adelaide at the end of 2024.
  8. We didn't pay that, it was 14, 27 and 35. We still have F2 and F3 picks. According to Tim Lamb we're taking two picks in the draft so we're trying to get as early as possible.
  9. Reid and Sanders or McKercher and Duursma - it's a nice choice to have ...
  10. Who are these KPs to trade for? Dan McStay and Ben McKay are the best players to move in the past two years. The best player to move next year will be Harry Petty - out! We have a rare chance for a contending team to draft a quality KP early, I don't think we should reach and ignore someone clearly better but we won't have to with Curtin or O'Sullivan.
  11. I think when you're rebuilding and need everything then drafting "best available" makes perfect sense. But when you're contending and have got most areas covered then drafting for need has its place.
  12. Well he'll be gone at the end of 2025 as a FA for less. He'll be traded at the end of 2024 as a pre-Agent. Bookmark it.
  13. I'm feeling generally warmer by the day about Keays' "point".
  14. Or take him with 6
  15. Mackie would be holding out for picks 99, 117 and 135 to seal the deal.
  16. Yes, there could be all sorts of garnish involving some of North's 17, 18, WC 23 and our F1st. As @Redleg implies, we'd have to love Duursma for the initial suggestion to happen.
  17. The top end trade I could foresee is: WC give 1 get 2 + 11 North give 2 + 3 get 1 + 6 MFC give 6 + 11 get 3 But I'd prefer to keep 6 + 11
  18. Nope you can't trade players on draft night
  19. If we're going to the draft to replace May it needs to be now so there's enough development time. With Petty almost certainly leaving soon we need KPs. I hope we take Curtin or O'Sullivan.
  20. With Petty sounding gone at the end of next year, I really hope we take the best one available to us of Curtin, O'Sullivan and Murphy. 42 is placed in a handy position if someone we really rate slides out of the top 25 or so. And as you say, if there's no one there we really like, try to trade it into 2024 on draft night. Hopefully it's too early for K.Brown and we can take him with a later pick. I think we will take him, a la Taj, with our last pick. We need to make sure we have enough live list spots.
  21. Thanks, pity I was wrong, we do have an extra F3 via Harmes. Won't be the first or last time ... Maybe we use that for Billings?
  22. O'Brien, Fogarty and Thilthorpe are all out of contract in 2025 like Petty. We can heavily target one of them now.
  23. Salary cap is probably roughly break even too Grundy $650k = McAdam ~$400k + Fullarton ~$250k
  24. Or they can be refreshing assets like Kossie, Bowey, Rivers, McVee and JVR
