  1. Gutsy post that, but I disagree. Excitment machines like Pickett don't grow on trees, and he's the sort of player that brings fans through the gate. Plus we're not paying a bloke $300,000 a year to see him fade away in Suburban footy.
  2. I hate these threads  The Melbourne Football Club has shown over time that they have a complete inability to dispose of bottom sides. Its embedded in their culture. Whenever their expected to win, they fall flat on their asses. Recent examples: Round 2 2007 V Hawthorn Round 1 2007 V St.Kilda Round 18 2006 V Carlton Round 1 2006 V Carlton Round 8 2005 V Hawthorn Round 6 2005 V Fremantle
  3. Can I nominate this thread of the year
  4. Can someone evaluate his game against Kangaroos in round 9 as I missed that one and that was the last game he's been seen in the red and blue. Is it just a coincedence that our fowardline structure has looked so much more damaging with Sylvia and Bate as our leading half forwards??
  5. Welcome to 2003.... I'm pretty sure he's cleaned up his act. Just look at him before, during and after games...always offering support and geeing up the players. Looks everybit a leader on the field, a massive contrast to the early days. Played some brilliant footy in rounds 8 and 9, after an injury effected start. Was the only player to hold his head up high in our thrashing in Perth - a sign of maturity and leadership. Very harsh call that IMO.
  6. Surely you jest. How can anyone in their right mind believe he was the man for the job when we were 0-9 and the coach had a winning % of less than 50.
  7. Davey's got carry over points from round 6 this year, so if he gets cited I'd suggest he'll be looking at a 1 match suspension or reprimand if he's lucky. Hopefully there was nothing in it. Needs to control his temper as he can be a loose cannon at times. He appears very easy to upset.
  8. The only positive about Jamar is he can take a serious grab in the goal square and is a far more accurate kick at goal than PJ at this stage. However this is countered by his average disposal per match of about 3. Its funny how only 9 months ago this website nearly went into meltdown when he missed the Freo final last year. Until White or PJ gets an injury, he'll be long forgotten at Sandringham, but I wouldn't write him off totally.
  9. Seeing that I was about only 200 off tipping the exact crowd for the Port game I think its only fair that BBP pulls out the crystal ball for this one. 66,321
  10. No Whelan. Hope Yze makes the cut. He owns QBDAY.
  11. Trade him for a Nathan Brown, Ben Holland and Daniel Ward package.
  12. I guarantee you he won't get nominated this year for one of two reasons: 1) They've totally forgotten the rule and just assume Jones played 10-15 games last year. Remember there are a ton of players out there, and their not going to automatically register that "Oh yeah, Jones played 8 games last year". OR 2) They know precisely that Jones played under 10 games last year but deem it unfair that he should be nominated twice...even though the rules state he can. He really should've been nominated after the Port game or even last week V Adelaide. As for the Gibbs discussion, I think Yze_Magic's been reading too much Big Footy
  13. No way will this happen. We play Carlton in 4 weeks
  14. Couldn't agree more unfortunetly. He was awesome in the NAB Cup series, which makes it even more disapointing. He'll be gone by years end. CAC and crew would be doing well to trade him for a fourth round draft pick.
  15. I like the positivity by Green. Reminds us that Melbourne aren't exactly the basket case we were convinced they were after the Eagles game. But when its all said and done, to win 11 out of 12 is simply unrealistic in this tight AFL season. Games against Freo (subi), Port (AAMI) and Sydney (Manuka) I've already pencilled in as losses...MFC simply don't win those games. We also face a tricky assignment against Essendon at the Dome in round 13 as well as Collingwood twice. I think 8-14 is a more realistic goal to achieve. It sounds mediocre but it still means we've won more than we've lost from now on, which is a positive step.
  16. Agree, Godfrey on Swan. Swan is more dangerous. Bell on Didak. Whelan on Neon Leon if available.
  17. I watched the replay this morning expecting to bag Ward for all his turnovers, however there weren't actually that many. It felt like more while at the game. Creates great drive and pace out of defence but accountability is the problem. Undecided whether he's best 22.
  18. Thats the problem with losing form. Nobody wants to turn up. Having said that if we were in winning form only 20-23000 would've turned up to the Port and Freo games and we still would've struggled to break even. We're defianetly struggling in the match revenue stakes and its only going to get worse with possible poor crowds coming up against Kangaroos, Adelaide and Western Bulldogs at the Dome later in the year. And Jaded would you seriously donate the money back
  19. I agree YM's a character and this site would be just that little more dull without him.
  20. He literally said four words in the segment where the aboriginal boys were on. "Yeah just do me stuff" Seemed to focus way more on Tambling and Ryder, where as I thought they would've asked Alwyn the tired old question "Who's faster, you or Aaron?"
  21. Nar I believe that will occur at 4:47pm this Sunday if we get done.
  22. Yes, I think it does to some extent. A win this week shows that ND ACTUALLY HAS THE ABILITY TO REGISTER A WIN in the nations premier code. How many codes in the world would tolerate 9 straight losses to start a season in any professional league. At the moment he either can't squeeze his troops over the line (ie Port and Dogs games) or conceding cricket scores. Last week against the Eagles may have been a defining (negative) moment in that the side could easily just [censored] the season away and give up. If thats the case, just give the gig to anyone who's got half a clue. A win this week could change all this and prove that the players are playing for their coach...yes I know they all love and admire him but thats not translating into results. I'll reserve my judgement till after this week. No I'll be fair, I'll reserve my judgement till after round 15 when we've played winnable games against Richmond, Essendon, Carlton and to an extent Collingwood. Its not that I hate Neale Daniher, but I'm just looking at the cold harsh realities of coaching a winless team 2 months into the season.
