On a serious note, I want to see Watts a rip a game of Footy apart, tomorrow night. I want him to kick 4 goals and take 3 influential contested marks. I want him to announce himself and silence the critics, after they came back last week. I won't be content with his usual output of 12 touches a game with minimal damage done on the score board. I Want more from out number 1 draft pick. Am I being too greedy!

From a purely selfish Melbourne point of view, I hope he'll be out long enough to miss Rd 1 versus us.
-
So LJ hurt his wrist in Rd 23 last year, and it's still not right! Talk about a shambles.

I have us at 2-9 with wins over Brisbane and Richmond. Many posters here were still in nappies the last time we beat Bulldogs and St Kilda while Essendon will be a bloody tough game. The good news is that we'll come home with a leg in the air with games against GWSx 2 and Crows, Power and GC as very winnable. I think we'll go 7-15 next year but be more of a satisfying year than last.

Anyone know the extent of Trengove's injury?

I like our clash jumper and and am happy to see it 5 or 6 times a year.

Not sure what the issue with Burgan was. Wasn't a great interviewer but wasn't poor either. Just got the job done and asked normal appropriate questions. -
The Nab Cup isn't the be all end all, but if we lose all encounters and get smacked by Collingwood and Hawthorn, you'd come into the season pretty pessimistic, I would've thought.

Training - Friday February 10, 2012
Bring-Back-Powell replied to mdemonski2's topic in Melbourne Demons
I wasn't there but I can assume: • The boys are training so much better than previous years • Mark Neeld is going to be so awesome for us • Jurrah, McKenzie, Bartram, Grimes, Spencer, Sylvia, Evans in the rehab group • Trengove, Nicholson, McDonald, flying • Davey trained poorly • Mitch Clark will be handy in the fwd line • Morton needs to show more urgency -
Pick activation - both picks activated
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
As it's a so called strong draft, I'd activate both. We'll likely finish 13th- 15th this year, so we could end up with something like picks 5, 6 and 13. Then try and trade our mid round pick on an established midfielder. -
Blame Bailey for this one. We were just too meek and nice under his reign. I love the fact that Neeld said "stuff this, we're getting Mitch Clark and nothing is going to stand in our way"

Conspiracy theory re: Neeld/Prendergast

Still can't believe we picked Strauss over Zaharakis in 2008. On the flip side he may have struck gold with Howe. Overall, the result are average at the moment. -

Dees find their crumbing forward - I'm rapt!

The last time Davey played in the fwd pocket was Rd 22 v Richmond where he carried on like a pork chop, got about 2 possessions and got suspended. They moved him in defense for immediate results where he contributed to an 8 goal 3rd qtr. Davey should be playing half back next year to utilize his kicking skills. -
Surprised nobody's mentioned 2008?
-
Just put him on a wing, let him play 'outside Footy' and hope his natural talent saves his career.

Nicholson, but I wouldn't mind seeing Couch elevated. I like the idea that he's a clearance king.

I'm only interested in this if we get rid of the Darwin game. 1 home game outside Vic is enough.

If Seller can be half the player of the great Simon Godfrey, then we've got one heck of a player up our sleeve!

Is Bail ever not injured? -
I don't get it with Sylvia. So he is struggling to run, but was recently available to play in the Irish series. Would have he been suspended if he was unavailable for the series, but still fled the scene of accident [censored]?

Agree with Watts getting a rocket. I know he was tired towards the end of the year, but his last few games were garbage. I think he was only averaging 10 or so touches and having next to no impact. He needs to raise the bar so much more for a no 1 draft pick. He was good in the middle of the season though.

Dunn missed a critical shot as well late in that game.

What was the first VFL/AFL Melbourne game you attended?

Melbourne v Bulldogs 1988 circa round 19 at the MCG. We lost by a couple of goals but have virtually no memory of it as I was only 6. Anyone recall this game?
