  1. I wonder how Webster's family reacted to the verdict
  2. Didn't just get Reid. Got McGovern a beauty in the centre of the ground half way through the last quarter. Gov still in hospital from that one: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1168188/eagle-grounded-with-broken-rib-punctured-lung
  3. More like familiar feeling of "hello darkness my friend"
  4. No malice? What about careless conduct or duty of care?! Name another player in the AFL that leads with his knee like he does. He has already racked up 4 victims that I can think of (I am sure there are moore, pardon the pun): Howe - concussed; Trac - almost killed; Witts - broken back; Noble - concussed
  5. What are the "learnings" for poor Kynan. Is it just fugazi?
  6. Wishful thinking. On current form, Mitch White is a better option. If only he had a contract....
  7. Jimmy. Minus the premiership but plus Brownlow and 87 night premiership (my favourite premiership, thanks Bret)
  8. Yep. 2nd loudest roar I have ever heard in Southern Stand: https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1992/051119920425.html 1st loudest when Clarko kicked goal after siren on debut against us: https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1987/111219870704.html

  10. No doubt the real victim Darcy Moore (like that other thug Maynard) will get heaps of sympathetic publicity now
  11. Agree. IN: Rod Grinter, Carl Ditterich, Andy Goodwin
  12. I didn't. Was just saying that I thought those guys (Bedford, Hunt and Harmes) were better than the guys we traded in (Billings, Hunter and McAdam). imfao, whatever that moronic acronym means
  13. Unfortunately Taylor and Lamb lost the midas touch after the premiership
  14. Grundy - best ruckman in the league Jackson - best 2nd ruckman/forward Jordon - one of the best taggers And Bedford, Hunt and Harmes are all better than Billings, Hunter and McAdam
  15. No Tommo? He was pretty stiff to be dropped
  16. Unfortunately our midfield consists of guys that just can't kick and hit targets. Yesterday, our core midfielders had a combined total of 13 effective kicks (Oliver 4, Viney 4, Windsor 3, Langdon 2). Compare that to the Swans (against arguably better opposition on Sunday) whose core midfielders had a combined total of 47 effective kicks (Heeney 8, Warner 13, Gulden 18, McInerney 8). But the Swans are on another level this year (in particular, fitness) thanks to a $40m handout in government funding that helped pay for an altitude training room with 45 watt bikes not to mention having exclusive access to the finest talent in their area via their academy (e.g. Heeney from Maitland, Gulden from Maroubra, Mills from Mosman, etc.). And yet we are still looking for a home training base since 1965 ☹️
  17. Agree. Disgraceful. Hope the thug gets his comeuppance one day
  18. May was booed louder and more often today than Maynard. Asked the filth next to me why and the reply: "Because May is dirty"
  19. i hope you've got a dictionary
  20. Not to mention the McRae directive to Maynard to take out Brayshaw. That was the turning point of the finals last year. We must reset next Monday and make the finals this year. Then anything is possible with a bit of a luck
  21. Not just premeditated. I have always wondered if it was a direct order from the coach. Has anyone ever asked the holier-than-thou McRae what his instructions to Maynard were before that fateful match? We had a birds eye view of the incident from Level 4 and it sure looked like to us that Maynard lined up Gus from 30m out. Still livid (and extremely sad and upset for Gus) over the whole incident. It was written in the stars that a Dees player would then get suspended under the new rule. The irony
  22. Petracca - laser like bullets van Rooyen - our 2nd ruckman Petty - versatility is gold Howes - most improved player Windsor - pace to burn
  23. FYI, just spoke to the SCG and all MCC members (any category) can purchase reciprocal members tickets (1 member and 1 guest) to this opening round match BUT only from the members ticket booth on the actual day, in person, from 5pm (half an hour before the member gates open). Seems a bit risky booking flights and accom if the members is a sell out on the day. Would be interested to know if any MCC members on this forum have purchased reciprocal members tickets to the footy up there recently and if there were any problems? I last used my MCC membership at the SCG almost 30 years ago and the members then was only busy on cricket days, not footy.
