  1. https://www.mcg.org.au/the-stadium/mcg-history/timeline 1859 "The first inter-club game under Melbourne Football Club rules (the basis of Australian rules football) was played at the MCG over two Saturdays, July 9 and 23. The Melbourne Football Club defeated South Yarra three goals to nil." 1883 "Arrangements were made by which the Carlton Football Club played several of their best matches on the MCG." 1890 "On March 7 the Melbourne Football Club became affiliated with the Melbourne Cricket Club" Doesn't really suggest that Carlton became a "tenant" of the G in 1883. The G was pretty much solely a cricket ground until 1890
  2. 10-5 free kicks to Carlton that quarter. 4 of them directly resulting in goals for Carlton. Usual bias
  3. Just more talk and speculation
  4. At least the 50 year member category is still around. Might be gone by the time we get there
  5. Agreed. But 3 ridiculously good kicks and 1 good mark/handball in the space of 8 seconds. Unbelievable. And if Howlett blew his whistle when the siren sounded, Jimmy (RIP) would never have then run over the mark
  6. And now listed as concussion. Weird
  7. Will never forgive TC for burning Robbie in the goal square in the '87 prelim - Robbie's last ever game for the club (RIP)
  8. Averaged around 15 disposals, 5 marks, 5 hitouts per game. And kicked 30 goals across 18 games. Similar stats in 2022. Just give the guy a chance in the seniors. Who knows - he may surprise everyone on this forum
  9. Yep I do. And I reckon he's p*ssed off
  10. Didn't Fullarton have 30 hit outs in a VFL match a few weeks ago? Classy by Goodwin to pump up Fullarton's tyres in public. And wonder if he noticed Pup's 24 tackles on the weekend? Didn't seem to notice/reward Pup's match saving one against Norf
  11. Bowser was pretty good too at one stage during the match. 176cm vs 2 metre Peter:
  12. He is becoming a more rounded player, week by week, and the stats prove that "conclusively". If that isn't improvement, I don't know what is. And I am sure Longmuir is very happy with the role he is playing in that forward line where the other key forwards (i.e. Treacy, Jackson, Banfield, etc.). are sharing it around
  13. Not sure what stats you are looking at. He is currently on track for more kicks, kicking efficiency, disposals inside 50, metres gained, ground ball gets, inside 50 marks, more shots on goal, goal assists, tackles, pressure acts, spoils, one percenters on last year's stats. And again, 7 games to go plus finals. Sheesh
  14. Hasn't improved? He has missed 1 game this season! Freo are 3rd on the ladder. He is integral to that team. And there are 7 games to go. Currently tracking improvement on lots of stats from last year: https://www.wheeloratings.com/afl_player_profile.html?ID=140bfb2
  15. In your previous comment, you inferred Amiss hadn't improved. And I brought up Petty as a side note to the relevance of this thread. My apologies
  16. Didn't Amiss kick 4 goals against us? 3rd year player. Pretty sure he'll keep improving. P.S. Petty had 1 kick that day against Freo
  17. At least give either of them a chance over a completely out-of-form, injury prone coach's Pet-ty!
  18. Yes, in the immortal words of the 12th man, we need it to "rain and to rain hard"
  19. 100% correct. 0% logic in this stupid selection
  20. They're recruiting in 2013 was excellent (Yeo, Sheed, McGovern, Barrass) but yes, from 2014 to 2021 disastrous. And contrary to what Caro says, Simpson has actually given the "kids" recruited in those years heaps of opportunities/games (see list below) but they're not quite good enough for the AFL. And the person most responsible for that recruiting was Rohan O'Brien, who also managed their list in the last few years. It will take years to repair the damage O'Brien caused, as it did with us and the carnage Barry Prendergast left behind 15 years ago. CURRENT: Hough 46; L. Edwards 34; H. Edwards 33; Chesser 30; Maric 23; Bazzo 20; Jamieson 17 PAST: O'Neill 39; Foley 32; West 28; Brander 22; Clark 21; Ainsworth 14; Cameron 12
  21. You are never going to get consistency with the multitude of opinions and interpretations out there on the ground now. They have all the power
  22. I wonder how Webster's family reacted to the verdict
  23. Didn't just get Reid. Got McGovern a beauty in the centre of the ground half way through the last quarter. Gov still in hospital from that one: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1168188/eagle-grounded-with-broken-rib-punctured-lung
  24. More like familiar feeling of "hello darkness my friend"
  25. No malice? What about careless conduct or duty of care?! Name another player in the AFL that leads with his knee like he does. He has already racked up 4 victims that I can think of (I am sure there are moore, pardon the pun): Howe - concussed; Trac - almost killed; Witts - broken back; Noble - concussed
