Nine more goals! Nine more goals! Nine more goals!

Could we dream our 190 point loss to Fitzroy in 1979 disappears too?

NON-MFC: Rd 15 2023
Yes, surely Simpson, their fitness coach Kilgallon and recruiting/list manager O'Brien all have to be sacked now

NON-MFC: Rd 15 2023
They could end up being the worst modern day side since Sydney in the early 90s, when they won 2 games from 38 under Bucks and Barass. Eagles currently on 2 wins from 32 🤣

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
If that was really said (which I strongly doubt), what a stupid bloody comment from someone who has never played football. Anything can happen from here to September. And based on Petty's absolute shocker last night and Tommo's excellent game against the league leaders (only to be dropped), she might want to think about keeping her thoughts on team selection to herself

My 3 word player analysis V Geelong
Worst game ever for the Club. Tomlinson did not deserve to be dropped

The Hole in the Heart of the AFL
Absolute nonsense. You are talking about two of the absolute greats of the game. They would have made it in any "era"

The Hole in the Heart of the AFL
Better footballers than most of the current crop. And Plugger is probably fitter now than most too

The Hole in the Heart of the AFL
You're kidding right. The game has been played for nearly 2 centuries and there have been countless examples of "legit athletes" down through the years. A lot of footballers in the past could actually compete with the serious athletes of the day (e.g. Bluey Adams). But most of the players now wouldn't even get close to becoming an athletics champion. For example, I would be interested to know how many current players would make this list on which half are from "the 90s": https://runthetan.net/hall-of-fame/fastest-afl-players-and-umpires/

The Hole in the Heart of the AFL
Really? Name the "many ways" please. Mid 80s to mid 90s, the "product" had: Better and tougher players overall (e.g. Ablett, Carey, Williams, Dunstall, Lockett, Sumich, Modra, Harvey, Stynes, etc.) Less interchange thus more endurance Bigger crowds (per capita) Higher scores and more accurate kicking for goal Less compromised fixtures Better umpiring Less rules (and confusion) State of Origin footy If all of the above had the same exposure/money the current "product" enjoys, it would be far, far, "far superior"

"But I think what constitutes a dangerous tackle is when arms are pinned or when there's excessive force. I'll just leave it at that." I don't want to comment but here's my opinion, says the lawyer 😂

Fifty years ago today … Robbie Flower debuts
And yet less than 800 people turned up to his public memorial service at the MCG almost 10 years ago. So sad for the best, most graceful and most loyal Demon ever

Thugs and Saints
3 weeks. And as most of us know, the biggest thug of all Leigh Matthews got zero weeks for this:

And remembered for being KO'ed on the wing at the G by another thug

MFC shabby treatment of Casey
The VFL website as a whole is a joke. Within the site, you can't even navigate to the detailed ladder page (that has to be done via a search engine). Even funnier, if you search on google for the VFL fixture using your phone and then click through, you end up on the AFL fixture

Hawks racism allegations (merged thread)
What about the findings against Russell Jackson, the ABC and Phil Egan? Or are they immune from publishing such one-sided defamatory material?

Training Ground?
No, it wasn't Gudnik or Gutnick. He was ousted as Club President in 2001 and up until then Olympic Park was in the hands of Athletics Victoria/Australia until Brumby, McGuire and Fildes did secret deals to obtain it for Collingwood in 2008. Ignoring his business failings, Gutnick deserves a life membership for helping Melbourne survive during the wretched merger period and pumping millions of dollars of his own money (or someone else's!) into the Club.

Caminiti suspended for four weeks
It was actually Max King's fault. He clearly pushed Jack Buckley in the back who then fell forward into Owens, whose head was collected by Caminiti's knee. Would be good to see umpires starting to pay free kicks against star forwards and blatant cheats like King, Lynch, Hawkins, etc. but it will never happen
