One can just as easily say to win a Prelim and Flag only 4 years after the West Coast disaster is just as impressive as it contained about half of the team members of that 2018 side that got pummelled. And in MHO the scarring is felt in many different ways. Is it for the Club ie Geelong we fear long term OR maybe just the Cattery as a ground that affects our psyche. Or even just some players like Stevie Johnston who always played well against us. in actual fact we have probably the best recent record of any other AFL team at the Cattery winning in 2015 2017 ( Coreys 300th gameI I think) choking by 3 pts in the Tuohy goal after the siren in 2018 and gaining revenge this year with what will be one of our greatest Club wins this century coming from 44pts down about 20 mins in the third quarter. (Does that remind us all of something even more special four weeks later or even the trouncing three weeks on when we blew the Cats out of the contest in the last half). And of course 2011 2016 and 2019 are all that we now have buried as embarrassing losses by a Club powerless to stop the Cats blitz at that venue. While many Demonlanders openly hate and despise the Cats They are not any where near the arrogance of the big Victorian clubs Essendon Hawthorn Richmond and the Pies to hate or the booing and one sided freaks that Optus Stadium is called their home. We should respect the Cats record and longevity that has kept them ( like Cwood used to be in nearly the first 100 VFL years constant challengers) that have mysteriously under achieved in Finals. Now the Cats fans are obviously jealous and a bit fearful of their future after 2021and the Dees hold over them with 3 different but systematic unravellings of their slow but steady style. Long May it continue!

2011 not 2021 !!

And a very Demon premiership style welcome to the three lads who already "seem" bigger than photos previous and profiles also. Boy with Blake Howes and AMV from NT I'll be very surprised if at least 3 don't get a go on the AFL stage at some stage. Probably JVR Blake Howes and Taj are favoured but no guarantees. Cant wait to see the five's development plus Dunstan's progress and evolution plus his amalgamation into a top class midfield.

Do you mean 2018 or 2017 in Roosy's last game? Or Both?
-
NO because there are positions for 1,2 and 3 talls!!! All are not 200cms so stop looking for fanciful reasons not to draft players. Look at his marking in the highlight reels and his record in Colts snd in 5 Claremont games. He is a competitor with a marking habit of stretching his arms like BBB does above the pack. Also he takes congested marks and is good in one on one tussles. I am exhausted thinking how good this "small" tall can be for us in defence or attack. Height is not the only measurement in footy as Mason Cox has found.
-
And Fritta has tackled since Day 1? What about looking at what the players possess and can learn? Ie tackling All his highlights show his (JVR) competitive instincts IMO. Just his physique and lankiness is similar to Wattsy. Jacks draft highlight reel showed ability to mark overhead but he was not able to compete regularly as a key position player in our teams from 2010 - 16 but his skill was more evident as we improved as a team in 2017. Reckon JW would have been a handful in Fritta's position now with our big forwards around. Yes he would have learned to tackle and compete harder as Fritta has done over the 4 years.

Bowey has got run and carry to his game and finishes it off with super disposal.

That position is what? back pocket ? or half back flanker ? very much depends upon match ups ie smalls or talls Hibbo is good especially to smalls and competes very manfully vs talls. Adding Tommo to defense if May Rick and Harry are in the team may bd one too many talls. Tommo isn't quick enough vs smalls and Salo and Bowzer and Riv are fine vs them with Riv the best to cope with mediums and tallish light on mediums and up to say 190 cms Hibbo is good also and depending upon their speed Tommo could be ok also. So let's not just pick our 6 or 7 best defenders without major consideration to the ball on the ground and minding the Weightmans of the world . Tommo is a class defender as are Harry Rick and Maysie so we are well stocked in all positions to cater for what all the the oppositions are going to throw at us in 2022. And Riv Hunty Bowser and A class Salo are all good to great smaller defenders that any other side would be jealous to have to choose between. More of the same in2022 please!

Part 2: Top 100 players of the past 50 years - 61-80

Sorry but it is not 2015 to 2021 Demons 31 to Hawks 2. The following Hawks are certainties Sam Mitchell , Jaeger Omeara Sicily Silk and Like Bruest and possibly Jack Gunston. That's 6 Those from our GF side who would not beat these 6 for experience consistency ability and team discipline over a decade or a 5 year period are: Petty Spargo Jordon Sparrow ANB and Harmesy. Thsts not too denigrate any of our players but the above group have only played ONE season of note and not even established a regulation spot yet in our best 23. ( They all deserve to be selected in Round1 however as premiership players) But if you had to select players over the 5 years those 6 Hawks are ahead as of end of 2021. End of 2023/4/5 very different story probably. -

Partly Agree Balls about Salo but he needs at least 2/3 more years at his current level before he passes Brett Lovett in our rankings I believe. He will especially if he plays in a flag or 2 or 3 more!!! -

Let's compare from 1925 to 1972 then and see how many Hawks??? -
I dispute your comment IRW that Tmac's form "suddenly collapsed" when he was moved forward. My assessment of the situation at the time was that Tmac's disposal was a real worry turning the ball over too often and at the time we didn't have a great forward line. Before He left Chip Frawley was played up forward and I think it was Roos that gave Tmac a shot at FF/CHF late in either 2015 or 2016 to bolster our attack. We all know about 2018 and 53 goals for Tommy but really this year I believe his first 2/3 of the season were just as valuable and that the injury was the main reason his form dropped for the later part of the season. However from where Tom was at 12 months ago he was still handy up forward as he needed a first or second defender to mind him. He helped out in the ruck up forward snd things like his bullock ing work and goal line strength were very valuable in our Finals. Sgsin he is training well and I expect Tmac to be named as CHF in Round1. Weid goes not compete like T Mac so it will be interesting to see what happens with JVR this season. Also Jacko and Maxy spent more time up forward as the season progressed and both made goal contributions and needed undersized ( vs Max) defenders to mind them or compete in ruck situations up forward. I like to think Tommy plays a role like Mark McClure did for Carlton in their three flags in 1979,81 and 82 with plenty of mediums snd smalls and a Mackay ( Jacko) floating plus a ruck in the mix snd BBB taking his tall extended arm marks that no defence can stop. Lets not fret about Tmac too much who IMHO played his role like many others and look at our scores since Round20 and results. Go Dees back to back or three peat or ??? Who knows.

Utter rubbish look at our last 6 Finals !!!
-
Don't really think VDB had any choice when push came to shove.
-
KDA sorry but you have not looked at our last 6 Finals. Jack Viney has been in our top 3/5 in all games except the 2018 Prelim Final where hardly any one played well. I also suggest you look at the GF again and see who got the ball out numerous times for our outside mids to break open the game and score multiple goals. Jack played one of his best games ever and has changed his role for the teams benefit. He looks to pass the ball on first grab he gets and no longer takes on the opposition and gets caught with the ball. I believe Dunstan will be valuable and get games as part of our midfield mix but form and injury will decide over the season who plays in the AFL team. Sparrow especially but Harmes and Jordan also deserve their spots if they are in form and fit early days 2022. But Dunstan is a good player who will be valuable in 2022 at various stages, But to say he will work better than Viney with our rucks and mids after the Finals is not correct as their chemistry was as good as it gets from Round 20.

You are very well catered for with my below par typing at times. I must keep you super busy at times !! Demonstone.
-
The more I see of Sparrow the more I like him. Reckon Luke will play as part of about 6/8 mids and a few others thrown in at times to vary the mix eg Kossie.
-
Boy at least they are not competing for the one spot!!!

?????sorry don't understand Demon.
