Sorry I am inner city south in Brisbane !!!
-
Just took my 2019 and 2020 Demon scarves off the front walkway and drive side balcony this week. Still to finalise the in door photos and memorabilia.

I am presuming you regard Tayla Harris as a plus dl4e as IMO she will along with the improvement of most of the newer and younger girls plus If we can get Our Geelong recruit Purcell on the park early enough will make our forward and attacking moves far more potent and our scoring shots more accurate. Just look at BBB in the AFL and his influence and it's going to take a very good team to stop our girls with their strong and aggressive game plan and multi faceted options to score. Casey Fields is such a fortress now and no reason for that not to keep on happening.

Well that's a whole new game with some ovv TV those changes you favour FT. SOME will NEVER BE PART of AFL thankfully and are: 1. Throwing the ball away when correctly tackled does not reward the tackler and it's not part of Aussie Rules to introduce throwing the ball. 2. Reducing to 16. Seems like a good idea but we through our superb wingers can see the skill in their position say like Lingers who is unique and also a differing skill role by Angus superbly and courageously performed in the GF. Maybe a forward/back pocket like the AFLW could work but let's leave it while we have 30 plus good players!!! Fir so long we had 12/15 and struggled NOW we have more and better players on our list so don't fix anything if it's not broke. 3. Ball ups on the 15 metre line after a rushed behind will cause far too much more congestion. Not needed the rushed behind it has been sorted only SOME players need to learn the rules. Another skill our defence is so good at clearing or nullifying our opponents Don't meddle with it It ain't broke. CHANGE To last possession over boundary is fine like AFLW but not inside the 50m arc. LEAVE THE SAME BUT INTERPRET QUICKER. Holding the ball which is intended now to be a lot quicker ie not 2by 360 degree rotations but one or deemed prior opportunity far more strictly along with no genuine effort to keep the game moving. Actually one of the annoying things with AFLW is that so often the girls just curl up and hold the ball either standing or on the ground and make no effort to move the ball on. This results in about 10/12 ball ups each quarter FAR tOO MANY. Penalise the ball holders and the game will flow more. It's just lack of skill and a blight on the game!! Holding the ball and tackling are and always have been open to interpretation and the AFL are by these changes looking to solve the non decision and fastening the game so let's see how they go this year !! So really just add the intended holding the ball/ tackling rules judgements and time wasting plus maybe the last possession rule and that all that is needed to change. The other changes are too great for the fabric of the game and if played correctly are a bonus not a negative on the game. ie if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!

You have ignored the fact that Richmond lost nearly all the games that Martin missed at the end if the Year say 8 out of 10. Yes Martin was not at his best in 2021 but my point is that The Tigers were lost without him much more than earlier in the year.

Was not Rosman. Don't fret. Do you think Maxy or Clarry would look much good in the AFL half time sprint?
-
You are dreaming Radar please go back to sleep. There is a good reason Melky Chandler and Weid did not make the team and Bowey did , they were not up to it. I think most of our youngsters including Smith ( Joel) plus Even Majak and Dunstan could improve but to replace those 8 players would be impossible. Maybe make 5/8 th !! if all fit in Finals then another story!!
-
Who would you rather have been ? Tigers or us? They almost had our 2019 repeat. But they may not have the hunger or depth to climb that same mountain agsin.
-
Agree that some will emerge. Dogs Power and Lions are candidates and Giants and Swans plus Bombers are all possibilities that could test us if we are below our best.
-
Results don't even remotely back up your theory or opinion. They had plenty of others injured as well similar to us in 2019. Their backline especially and on ball groups were worst hit and are still the areas that hold the key to their fortunes. Old Father Time May also be the elephant in the room and their kids may need a year or two to prosper.
-
Well in a way they do. But it's in smaller doses. Look at the fourth quarter virtually every Melb player did something special. Right down to Pickett who had an almost day all teamed together but we know Clarry and Trac and Jack V were the ringleaders. Spargo and Harmesy did have highlights and actually ANB played his best game and was in our best half dozen I believe.

Jordon says hi !! Sparrow says gooday!!

You can if you want to when it's Covid free Book when tickets are first available !!! Where there is a Will there is a way!!!
-
Totally correct JCB Gawny became the hunted and all our forwards benefited from his prescience. Even when They swapped Jacko developed a presence with more goals due to his all round footy skills. Our totals each match were a revelation especially in the Finals.
-
The forward line was finally bonded together when BBB came back for his second stint and we never looked back after a couple of weeks working at patterns and coordination and also kicking the ball high to BBB when he was mostly isolated with only one opponent or shorter opponents.

58er replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
But Goody was the next choice and to say Roosy didn't recruit Goody is palpably wrong and disengenuos to Roos (and PJ. ) -

Good look Nascent yes 21 One to watch I reckon. Something special about this kids marking.
-
If you watch he is really the only one who kept his eyes on the ball and in between three others ho got one hand on the ball and bought it to the other to complete a very good mark. Not impressive well if you look at JVR's highlight reels don't be surprised about his excellent marking contested and the height he attains in jumping. Very similar to BBB when he extends his arms straight up and is far too tall for the pack or his opponent. His GF and 2021 season highlights prove how valuable he was in transforming our firward line to the multi dimensional unit it developed into during the last few games and of course during the Finals. On the contrary I believe JVR showed in this clip IMO what a special talent he has ie marking and I believe he is destined to become a very special forward ( or defender at times) for us for the next decade or more. Go to just highlight reels and he is an excellent marker of the ball one on one or contested in a pack and also on the lead. He may even be our first 100 goal forward No pressure Jacob. Could have been one of Bruce McAveneys "special" players I reckon. Msybe he will just go bang bang bang etc. for us!!!
-
Smaller medium size players really need to play on the Weightman's of this world. we need to be mindful that taller players always go for marks and if it's one fault over the journey ( very rarely evident now I admit) it's that too many of our backs fly to mark and font stay down. Rorke Smiths first goal of the GF was a great example when all Dees went up. Lever often flys last man up and would be better to stay down behind the pack. Unless you get the ball or hit it out of play you are a liability flying for the mark. We don't want May Lever Tommo and Petty all flying with Hibbo sometimes also. Salem Riv and Bowser provide the balance very nicely and necessary in our team defence.

Surely WCW you are not suggesting that some D/Lers are so uninformed and disinterested that there only contact with MFC is this fantastic site on their PC laptop tablet or smartphone. Or that That they don't read papers or watch TV or listen to the radio to update their knowledge about the mighty Dees. My point is that today we don't want for opportunities to obtain knowledge or information and in my opinion it frustrates me that this forum seems overused by some as a quick Q and A function to save a Google or Siri enquiry, scan of the daily paper or website browse. Demonland deserves better IMO as does our Club website which both serve as excellent but different choices to keep in touch with our beloved Reigning Premiers as we attempt to go back to back and establish a dynasty to Match our previous successful glory years of the last century.

Demonland is not the official news outlet for MFC news or D/Landers asking for info that you can look up on your phone or one of the news outlets. Far too many D/Lers depend on this site as their sole news outlet and don't got to afl.com.au OR melbournefc.com.au for their source of news for the actual report that has been broken or alternatively is a radio or TV news sport items and/ or is digitally available. Great examples such as are: Is it on TV? When are the fixtures coming out? Why isn't ....? Playing today? What time does the game start? General questions for info like this are on multiple threads and sites so it is IMO expecting others to notify you asking a general question like this on a post is just sheer laziness. If it's been a thread you have posted on and been involved in totally then no issue but to come in at the end or just ask without attempting to look up yourself it's using other posters time up!! We are very lucky as Demonland posts (by Andy I presume ) are very prompt and reliable. Thanks Andy for your excellent service and news worthiness skills for us all.
