Knowing Goodie I reckon he will go in unchanged. Reason is Sparrow and Hibbo both played good games and earned their spot. Both Tommo and Dunstan can wait to show form in practice matches and maybe even early Casey rounds to displace Tom and Michael. Actually Hunt and Joel Smith come into the frame for a back spot also and Jordon for a mid position if any injuries occur. There would be something special about the "Same Great Special 23" repeating the dose in Round 1 again over the Dogs in our history and AFL tales. Its only a feeling but Goody won't make changes for changes sake. Tommo for one may be better off in the Ressies to ease back into top condition.

Correctly is no mean FEAT Jontee or am I missing another point?

I have friends in your town and are hard core Dees.
-
Both were at the G for the Premiership celebrations and figured in the Congo line delivery of the Cup to Neiter and The Rev for the handover.
-
The mixed emotion should really be tempered with the priceless journey you and thousands of others have been on (or through). I was led to following the Dees in 1958 by my state school buddies family and my family appreciated the immediate success of 7 successive finals appearances and 3 flags, 1959,1960 and 1964. Didn't get to witness any by the way but saw the Cats salute in 1963 and still remember the heartache of that actor and rogue Roger Dean being influential in Barass ( my childhood heroand jumper no wearer.) being suspended for 4 matches including our semi and prelim finals. Then the rot started in 1965 and until that wonderful Saturday late in August in 1987 no joy! The 90's team under Balme teased us and our defence was never up to it under The Rev including the 2000 smashing by a champion team. Ah the rock bottom 07 to 2014 years when in 2015 you could see the development of a team and list coveted by PJ, Roosy and released to Goody in reasonably good shape. As usual 2017 2018 and 2019 tested us again and Covid intervened plus Cains ruined our hopes in 2020. 2021 IMO promised a lot providing about 7/8 things happened. Fortunately they did plus a couple more and voila a stirring and brilliantly executed raid on the AFL silverware was achieved. The Club has been reborn and indeed reshaped from top to bottom thanks to the excellent follow up work of many and on and off the field a dynasty is not out of the equation. Now that journey beats a "Johnny come lately " fan from say 2015 and so will the next few years be when we value our success achieved the hard way.
-
A win is a win whenever or whatever It was after our best performance to date in the 2021 season of smashing the Tigers. No mean feat for our lads to storm home over Roos in Round7.after realising that we were a serious contender.

Amazing SD You have made a decision for about 5,000 to 6,000 of our members that NO ONE can/will be there on the Wed night, with the flag unfurling after 57years. In 2018 it didn't seem to matter when we made the 8 when 90,000 plus turned up over 2 successive Friday nights, Not everyone works kids can take a half day off school and some members are rusted on enough to be there or be square. Annual leave is available for fans if they wish to attend such an event to most people it gets back to their desire.to attend. BTW I live interstate and it doesn't worry me Wed or Friday I will be there !!

Jon Ralph's big early predictions for 2022
58er replied to FlashInThePan's topic in Melbourne Demons
So no changes Watto! Tigers 12th GWS 8th!!!! And the Jacko quote was qualified by " IF he is not signed by the middle of the year. Alters the whole context !!!! -
I thought Taj 's were the best really and other sides of his feet. But sample size small on all and all covered good distance.
-
Still no details on Mackies weaknesses. Really I just think you comment wildly with rash generalisations and maybe your knowledge is very shallow. Imagine if any of our Coaches reported like this a player would not know what they were good at or not. Really not worth reading your posts Mach 5 as they lack critical detail . M
-
Once again Mach 5 You haven't specifically itemised your opinions on why a 3 Flag player, 280 games and AA is not a good/ great player. Just general dismissive comments. What are his weaknesses ? Remember he played those games in the golden era of the Cats when they had about half their side as AA. Over to you Mach 5 Details please. PS This is exactly the career that every Demon fan would want for ( and has been commenced) by Trent Rivers ( and possibly Jake Bowey ) and Christian Salem is on his way to achieving.

For your info Mickey and many others I was in touch with the Demon Shop about a week ago and my order has been delayed in sending because of the Premiership Beanie. Jack who answered the phone about 4.55 pm on that day said the Beanies had just arrived at the warehouse and my complete order would be with me in 7-10 days. Hopefully this week ! Hope this helps Dees fans.

Sorry LITB The only reason we got the chance to win was because the Cats after the umpires deemed Angus had not made sufficient effort to keep the ball in put the ball out of bounds and we recd a 50m penalty as Close punched the ball from well out of bounds to into the "crowd" ie time wasting. Then it was only a matter to get a mark inside the 50m zone which Maxy obliged and that set us up for pole position in the Finals where we took the greatest advantage possible to ensure our drought breaking precious 13th Flag.
-
Or his special place in Our history, and indeed in the AFL folklore.
-
Just shows if you have good or very good or special footballers in most positions you win the flag. Especially when they play together ruthlessly as a team!
-
Ironically without it we may have not got the chance so don't keep harping about it.
-
You don't lose your right to make a call whether you have chosen correctly previously or not. if that was the status quo very few decisions may be resultant in life.

Welcome to Demonland: Andy Moniz-Wakefield
58er replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Congrats Andy and all the other 4 draftees. All look to have exciting skills offering different ones to add to our required hardness determination and team ethics. Terrific base for our Coaches to develop. Tall swing man defender and stylish goal kicker Leader on the field and some possible 2022 games on the radar for this key position recruit. All round skilled outside high marking and long kicking centreman forward and wing prospect at 190cm. Exciting !! Could do anything in 2022. Son of a gun who has dreamed of this day joins with a stellar WA Colts and local games 2021. Excels on both sides of his body and is a leader. Judd is a medium/small defender with high skills and run off the backline mantra. Will develop nicely his game style under our elite coaching Andy is one of our NGA boys who also possesses a high skill level and outside run. Like all recruits he will relish our culture and is an East Freo Shark like Dogga Rivand Taj and will develop ahead in leaps and bounds as a mid and forward ball getter. Exciting times ahead. -
You mentioned him as a potential winger as he can run! All I am saying that is what some Demon fans wanted early this season Tommy Mac on a wing because he was training in the centres at the time. Tommy never was he played about 5 mins at the start of his season to get him into the game in2018 and all of a sudden fans want him full time there after most had written Tommy off during the pre season this year. I didn't but when you aspire for JVR it's rather tiresome to refer ( even if not in writing any fan would relate to Tommy ) of any KP player that can run they should be considered for a wing potentially. BTW we recruited the winger Blake Howes for forward play and his outside run from the wing and maybe on the ball. Maybe you would now suggest Blake can be tried as KP forward !!!
-
Mitch White was a half back !!! Taj has also played HB He can rest there!!!
-
Who is Sam Banks ? Jeremy Howes brother in law ? A friend of yours? Tim Paines Manager ? Why is he any better than the draftees in Vic etc? Age and history please Very light 73 kg !! We actually need small defenders rather than medium. Got to say the highlights are about half pace. Not much pressure.
