Records we can be proud of
These sorts of records are not rare enough ie too common because we don't play some teams often enough for record to be an achievement. For instance we have never lost a Grand Final to Adelaide Brisbane Carlton Freo Geelong GWS Gold Coast North Port Saints Swans Eagles. Fact is we have never played them in a Granny! We have lost in a GF to Pies 1958 Bombers 2000 1946 Dogs 1954 Hawks 1988 and drew with Bombers in 1948 ( and won the replay) And your post that we have not lost to Carlton in Finals since 1962 is not really significant IMO as we have only played them in Finals THREE times ( 1988 1994 and 2000 ) since then, I think. These records are finished by lack of genuine competition versus many teams.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
Not sure Weid should be discarded yet as this game had no forward vibes or stars at all. It took the most likely and skilful forward of all to get 3 goals so that how hard it was to generate scoring. Tmac did play more usefully than Weid but maybe he could be Med Sub and give Sam another chance to succeed. Down back it will be a slow burn getting our best 7 together with encumbants being favoured by the Goody selection process. All in all we have 30 plus players in our depth st this stage with about 3 out of action. It's still a work in progress!!

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
Not true really he sticks to generalisations with insight BUT not specific names and details where he could be in trouble. Occasionally a joke erupts and the whole group laugh at the expense of someone but in a humorous not critical way. He has developed into a very smart snd listenable media person and so has Nathan Jones. Add Daisy and we have some stars to listen to that add to our pleasure and achievements.

100% Game Time
All 3 probably and a dose of Lingers positivity!!!

100% Game Time
Looking at our raft of goal kickers these days notice Viney Clarry Jacko Harmesy and Lingers have developed significantly since 2021 at this time. With ANB Kossie Tmac and Spargs slightly down we are well serviced by many capable and versatile players who are all up for a 100% buy in to team ethos.

There was an awful ( overwhelming ) lot of D/L ers say 40% who failed in my opinion to respect Pertie and his record at the Pies. Let's be fair he was CEO there when 2010 Flag occurred. He was not responsible for the Salarygate which ruined some including Ned Guy and partly Eddie plus their Recruiting and Football Depts. and Buckley was shameful in that charade. Gary Seemed to overestimate the amount of Merch/ Memorabilia that was wasted in 2010/11 after their Flag as a major criticism for lack of anything else. Working with Eddie you would always be 2nd or 3rd banana no matter which job you did. Gary drove and oversaw great membership growth and club development during his time. He Has made a very good 4 years go without an apparent and major public event ( presidential and football Department inc.the Review efforts have been outstanding.) And our subsequent Flag has made us millions. He has started our 4 year plan with results and Sunday could be another target accomplished. Our financial situation is the envy of more than half the Clubs in the AFL considering where we have come from. As many will say about our Training plan being developed we need our Admin and Social and supporter meeting place all in one developed. That is the prime Kate Roffey responsibility along with Gary and is a State Govt development in progress it appears. Yes it is easy when you stretch wins in 9 and 11 continuously with the prospect of more like that in the offing. Time for some good vibes from the doubters if they can eat humble( pie ) which is what they are sort of mixed up about being in this equation. Move on credit where credit is due. Also the Board and previous others are included in the overall appreciation society at present. We are so lucky our ducks are all in a row and are healthy and producing many beautiful ducklings in our footy life today. Long May it continue.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Port Adelaide
Spargs is a master at not really looking staged at it. Kossie is dramatic snd this one reminded me of the 3rd quarter one in the GF which the umpires ignored also. It's going to be about a 1 in 3 especially in front if goals if you lower your head ( ie duck) so is it worth continuing to try or use it? Maybe change name to Sellwood Kossie and Charlie keep using it strategically.

Amazing though one of the BIG 3 always seems to feature BOG or nearly!!

Agreed but Kozzie feeds off Tmac as well IMO as do our small forwards off all the talls. Just that BBB and Kozzie have a special connection.

Very good point Binman. It's almost a given that some players are relying on the 1%ers and team acts especially pressure ones to keep their spots in the side, But what you will also notice is that those players have their time in the sun ( or lick of the ice cream if you wish) and will play a pivotal role in our success on occasions. I posted about a week ago about our team roles and the old adage of it it ain't broken don't fix it. I said many Demonlanders want players dropped on pure stats we itbout considering the team role etc AND the fact that there opponent has not had any major effect or damage in the game yo the result. For instance Hunty had not been our best Back in 2022 but ha has defended grimly and shown enough skill in his play with run ons to keep his place. I can also say that Smithy has learnt so much in his 6 games since last year about team snd role playing ( and still had his amazing ability to do about half a dozen "Smithy" skill type acts mostly spectacular ) that separate him from ordinary to X factor! Hunty is also a bit like Smithy in that regards and perhaps we can't have both in our defence if we want you be watertight and miserly ie up to Maysie and Rick Levers very high standards. ( No doubt Salem's also but he doesn't get involved) The fact of the matter is we have about a Dozen defensive players (Angus now included) who can play AFL and AA standard and play their role and team play and no real loss of excellence is noticeable in the game. Perhaps we should also thank Troy Chaplin for this situation AND never forget Jason Taylor snd Tim Lamb for gathering our defensive stars and teaming them up to be the rock behind our great team since about halfway through 2020. Bowser Hibbo Riv Tommo say HI!!! and some new recruits like Turner Judd McVee Deakin Smith are only warming up fir their roles in the future when asked to! And there's a few more defensive type players in the wings ( pun intended ) Langers and Gus when on the wing Kossie Spargs ANB JJ now snd Tommy Sparrow snd heaven forbid Clarry Trac Harmesy Jack V and the rucks Maxy and Dogga that all play their part. By the way Angus now refers to the defence as "the Men's Club". He is right again as all of the above when defending are playing real tough and uncompromising footy which almost resembles trench warfare to our team. Long May it continue.

CHANGES: Rd 05 vs GWS
It was in Gus and Gawny and was as usual with Maxy very tongue in cheek. Don't worry that's always the way with Maxy and I would believe all at the Club respect his comments on 95% of the occasions. That's because they are true!

Farewell Luke Jackson
Jesse left at the end of 2018 by a mutual agreement situation with the Club really firm on him departing . We were not struggling as the two Finals wins were a great credit to our Club and success looked likely to follow in2019. We had no idea of that year evolving with the surgeries and total overall injury problems. 2020 was a solid year of ground work by the Club which set us up for the substantial achievement of the 2021 Premiership and base for further success. Let's not kid ourselves LJ would be hard to replace as he is a once in a 50 year or generational player and while 2 top 10 picks seems good compensation they would be unlikely to be a ruckman who could make such an immediate impact as Dogga. He is clearly rusted on to our team and success, also the Club culture and to Maxy so 2/3 year deal is sensible at his stage of development. I'll be surprised if it's any thing different but it would be nice for a long term deal The club are getting things spot on and I am confident that this will be another common sense decision.

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Port Adelaide
The Smithy lovers are saying he can play tall or small. That is just their opinion to justify him staying in the team ie his versitility. BUT NO ONE has offered any proof by example of the SMALL player he has beaten since returning last year . IMO he was an embarrassment vs Charlie Cameron in the QUAL Final and that is the best sample that is recent to take notice of. Compare that with Hibbo's two Finals games on Geelongs small forwards and the Dogs in the GF. No comparison as I think it's Hibbo that can also play tall/ mids of heavy weight due to his body positioning spoiling deceptive pace. We all know that Hibbo is probably in his final year so it's wise to develop other options for our defence. Hunty played well vs Dogs but is not a one on one expert really. Lets see if either Smith or Hunt can mind the smaller quick forwards and put pressure on them. To be fair we also have Riv Salo and Bowser who are good half backs who are adept at defence and attack in their games. Interesting position as Tommo and Petty are much better vs the talls along with May and Lever (most times ). Remember it's the pressure over all that we put on forwards via our defence mids or even forwards that breaks down our opponents mostly to allow our gdd as me to flourish and us to score.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
We don't count practice matches or JLT in AFL records.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
We won 11 in a row counting the last 2 games vs GWS and Bombers in 2020. Its now 10 counting 7 last year and 3 this season.

CHANGES: Rd 04 vs Port Adelaide
Much more than a couple of good games in 2021 He kicked 2 and 3 goals multiple times. Tmac lost his form a bit and yes injury upset his form before Finals where he was the team man and hard worker for the Forward line. Has started slowly and may have to make way for Weid who has clearly hit form if BBB and Lever return. Interesting selection issues ahead for Simon and Co.

TRAINING: Monday 4th April 2022
Very much appreciated training report PF. List is in PRETTY good shape as our premiership defenders really start to return from their injuries and malfunctions. What a mighty job has everyone in defence done in difficult times this season so far. And our total average has only risen from about 64 points per game in 2021 to 70 points average this season with 5/6 unable to play. Team going at trotting pace but all getting some good times in the matches. Selection interesting this week.

Membership Tally 2022
Doubt it there were more Dees than Bom bers on Friday on the zmembers stand side of ground and at least halved or MFC 55/45 in lower Warne Stand. But I agree it was a disappointing crowd total driven first by the Bombers probably not buying tickets after last week's loss to Lions I thought minimum 30,000 Dees were there but we don't ( or didn't make perhaps as much noise as we could/ should) MCC side of ground should be full with members at least 3:4 full each home game with all the groups on Level2. Msny more Dees fans are in Outer because of GA ticketing also!!

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Essendon
Weid playing forward and Back is a long way to him playing 5 mins warm up at the start of a game. That old chestnut has been laid to rest in 2018 and never to be repeated. I am more of a winger than Tommy and Angus has to stamp his "Wingers Club" ticket and that won't happen thank goodness. Jordon did quite well when winging it on Friday night. Flexibility yes but mr T everywhere no thanks.
