2025 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
if i was the eagles i'd be nervous drafting young willem, yasmin and xavier have both had trades back to Victoria early on in their careers, theyre a tight family, whilst he may be the best on the open market they surely dont want another harley reid story arc where it is just the whole narrative for 3+ years and wouldn't it be a disaster if they both then left in '28. I think they have to consider what a trade of pick 2 for 5 and 8 or 4 and a f1 looks like

AFL Draft 2025: VFL prospects
thsts my concern too, look at how verrall is developing at a similar age which is pretty slowly, you'd just lvoe for them both to be 202-203cm at least

AFL Draft 2025: VFL prospects
ahh yep woulda been the better thread to post in, surely ends up on an afl list, raw footy smarts and ability can only be enhanced within a professional environment, wonder what the knock on him last year was that let him slide through undrafted?

2025 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I'd be right into this guy, 18yo and dominating the forward line at brisbane, given melky's age he could develop really nicely behind fritsch and himself for 12 months. proven vfl player who seemingly would thrive in the afl environment

Trade Targets
we need to stop recruiting in the 15-30 bracket f=of our list, you arent playing him ahead of bowey, mcvee, salem or rivers so whats the point? take a kid with upside not another 27yo average afl goer

Have had two go's at this so roughly a month apart and since the end of the season has arrived i feel its fair to give it one final attempt Retire: Hore, Billings, McDonald, Campbell Delist: Woewodin, Henderson, Brown, Fullarton, Verrall Trade: Petracca, May UFA: Spargo If we can pay out Laurie or McAdam then thats a bonus, dont think it saves anyone per se but they are list cloggers. McDonald or Fullarton could stay, and honestly I'd lean Fullarton now, but McDonald one game shy of 250 probably keeps his spot. May showed hes about to fall off a cliff, his assets are starting to fail him with age. We cannot enter 2026 with May and McDonald as our key defenders. Fullarton has shown in 3 weeks that maybe he can be a solution. I think one domino falls, for me it would be salem or oliver but i think trac to the hawks is a possibility.

AMW, Mentha and Culley Sign on as Rookies for 2026
it actually benefits the club as x% of their wage is paid outside the cap i believe, which is why some teams will leave spots open after the ND and then sign SPP players etc to overload their rookie list more so than their senior with a 36-6 split compared to a 38-4 on the issue of demoting veterans etc to the rookie list i would change it so that you can only slide players down (no DFA attached) as they come off their draft contract and theyve played less than 10 games. so they really are rookies, later ND selections who are taking longer drafted in the later rounds, dead set rookies that need an extra year or so to develop. none of this gunston marc murphy nonsense and also not your mcadam/laurie types being pushed down to hide contract years teh club would ideally like to get out of

no, lock this thread look at where our list is at, we're not in the 32yo injury prone wont get a game ahead of xyz camp at the moment, especially when 3 of the 4 you've listed as not getting ahead of have been linked to exits themselves as theyre performing below expectation

Trade Targets
screams of 2 years back at the weagles in his home state offering "leadership" with his tiges mates made of glass is hardly fair, he did an acl and has had some pain and setbacks related to getting strength and speed back in his legs as a result which seems entirely fair and after another preseason he will be right to go and will tear the joint apart again if we wanna look at the lions take pre-agent zac bailey, we need that hard working half forward who also kicks goals and can work up the ground, hes your guy, get him and mcreery and its a different discussion i50

PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
given the vfl finals its either out tmac/howes in kentfield push petty back or out howes in fullarton for mine i know they arent super tall the pies but u have to change something and howes clearly isnt an afl standard defender
-
Trade Targets
i was going to say the exact opposite, from all reports he's super loyal, seeing his housemate commit and choosing to stick fat surely only encourages him to do the same not push harder for the exit? coming up is generous, hes 25... cant wait for spargo and sparrow to start coming up too

2025 List and Contract Details
can we keep this thread as an absolute bible and only update it on official MFC reports and not heresay and speculation? has been no word from MFC regarding a contract extension, the commentators hearing a rumour could just be coz they read demonland pre game to find out some words to sprout

PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
soargo wont play so he can play the vfl finals, itll be basically unchanged, let casey have a proper crack at a flag, theyre red hot melky farewell?? hes been our best forward he's absolutely worth another 12 months if you want to make a change for sharp its either billings as a farewell afl game or lindsay if they havent shut him down for the year
-
Trade Targets
i think we've been linked to him sporadically throughout the year windhager, jackson yes buku and treloar absolutely not

The List Manager Tim Lamb
the crows actually got a lot of their first rounders right, rachele, curtain, FS michaelaney, thilthorpe, they actually have very few later picks in their side keays, hinge rankine, dawson, peatling, cumming, nibbler, keane from other teams smith/laird, milera, tex from the old brigade leaves murray, fogarty, worrall as about the only ones picked beyond 20 and first rounds go till pick 30 these days so its much of a muchness really, probably stacks up quite closely to our 21 side
-
Trade Targets
windhager is about to explode, should have been the saints number 1 guy all year and the shackles are about to come lose, if we were to sign him it would be with the knowledge that someone else was out the door, either clarry or trac, a midfield of Windhager, Pickett, Langford, Windsor for the next 10 years is strong but a midfield of windhager viney clarry trac isnt ideal, especially with sparrow langdon and rivers all thereabouts with equally poor foot skills
-
PREGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
they wont bring spargo back in as he is one game off qualifying for vfl finals, so maybe itll be sharp or kolt for windsor

INJURED DEE CHASING EXTENSION - from HUNInjured Melbourne playmaker Andy Moniz-Wakefield is set to win a one-year extension as the Dees line up a long list of out-of-contract players. The Demons have been working to sign up defender Judd McVee and have to make calls on a bunch of others on the list, including veteran Tom McDonald and premiership player Charlie Spargo. Injured Dee Andy Moniz-Wakefield is hoping to secure a new deal. Picture: Dylan Burns/AFL Photos via Getty Images. Evergreen forward Jake Melksham and summer signing Jai Culley are both performing well while waiting on a new deal. Moniz-Wakefield, 21, should lock down a one-year extension in coming weeks, having had his 2025 ruined by a ruptured ACL. The former Category B signing broke through last year to play six senior games, showing glimpses of dash off the back flank
