Anyone who says the boys don't deserve a mad Monday are a-holes of the highest order. Yes, we didn't get many results this year - but these blokes work incredibly hard all year, and to say they don't deserve to blow off some steam at the end of the year and have a laugh is reserved only for those who think the worlds revolves around them. You've never had a bad year in your career? Maybe you should exclude yourself from the end of year party when the boss puts his corporate credit card on the bar when you do. Fully agree. However, maybe this could change if he is no longer captain and replaced by powerful leaders in the mould of Lever etc. In that case, if he falls into file and just plays his role - maybe, just maybe, we can still use him. Other than that, he can play at Casey and be handy depth.

I think you are completely overstating his ability to lead/influence the team like that. He ain't no field General, never was.

Look, he's gonna be on low coin, happy for him to play another year - but that has to include a lot of time in Casey because if we are to bounce back and do any sort of damage next year, Jonesy cant be in our best 22 every single week. A great clubman, I have nothing but admiration and respect for what hes achieved (not a huge amount of talent, a hell of a lot of hard work, determination and dedication), but he must be considered a depth player if we're being serious next year. He sets a good example to the younger guys that you can work hard and get the most out of yourself if you want to, even without god gifted talent. Jones to Casey, and to play up 10 games in various roles filling in for injuries. These roles can include small forward, high half forward or in the guts.

Has anyone actually considered attending the AGM to raise their grievances? Or is it just easier to vent on a forum and never actually do anything about it.

On reflection, my post was miscommunication; Brayshaw for Langdon + a (late) second rounder.

Langdon plus a second rounder is more than fair. Don't forget - Gussy is only 1 bad head knock away from potentially never playing again. Concussion prone players carry inherit risk. Granted he seems to have addressed whatever it was in his game that was causing it but the history remains.

Ideally I'd want the club to demand a late 2nd/early 3rd rounder to go with it but we are not historically ruthless traders and tend to assume the position

Brayshaw + a second rounder gets it done. Do it.

I'd be fine with a straight swap for Ed Langdon. I've been a Gus fan for awhile, but if that's what it ends up costing to get Langdon then so be it.

You're certainly not wrong, and I suspect Jones wont be a captain next year. A prospect I am delighted about to be honest. We're all seeing the same things and venting frustrations in different ways I guess.

Give Lever time, he has had a horrible run at it over the lat 18 months. Lever is our number 1 option for captain by a mile. For f***s sake MFC - please do not over burden Maxy with captaincy. Just let him play and do what he does best.

And to think there's some people on this forum calling for him to traded. This level of stupidity is hard to comprehend.
