Gee I'm glad you don't work for the club. This is cultural suicide in a team which lacks enough of it already.
  2. Roos was pretty glam in terms of salary ...
  3. As always, I find myself in furious agreement with you once more. Well said.
  4. Can never be too prepared, SWYL!
  5. It doesn't surprise me that you still use one of these at home
  6. I wonder if the players themselves had something to do with finishing on top the ladder
  7. I see the point your making. My only point would be that all lists have at least a few players like that and its not necessarily a bad thing. As long as they play the outside role well who cares if they are the type to put their body on the line? I couldn't care less if the same person is lacing out Sammy on the lead inside 50 ...
  8. A lot of classy outside players are soft. That's why they play on the outside right ... We can hope for unicorns all we like (i.e. classy outside + hard inside), but back here on planet earth Phillips makes a lot sense for our other wing and I'd be all for it. Agree it wouldn't be worth selling the farm for however.
  9. I hear what your saying, but on the other hand we can't have a team of players that want to instantly get rid of the footy like a hot potato every time they touch it. Jack's bullocking certainly has its place.
  10. I'd pump the brakes on that line of thought. A good season with the Bluey and a AA spot does not automatically mean he will be an effective captain. I haven't noted Trac showing any signs he'd be a good captain personally, but happy to be corrected by those who watch more closey than I do. I love the bloke, but maybe someone who grabs team mates fingers and puts them up his own clacker is possibly lacking the maturity required of a captain.

I don't mind this at all actually
  12. Some strange ones in there Also, I hate this website design passionately. Why must we click through 10 separate pages to get the full story?
  13. On the other hand, if they were up and about many would whinge that they're "not hurting enough" after that season
  14. You might be on to something here SWYL; psilocybin in microdoses is an effective treatment for PTSD. Watching us play might have got to him one too many times.

What a great thread. Let's trade our leading goalkicker, who is highly skilled and takes a [censored] load of marks inside 50 and makes quality defenders look like b-graders regularly. Dumb.
  16. I can accept he's had his share of average games, but overall I view his season as positive steps toward becoming the player we need him to be. We all know key tall generally take much longer to develop, and I reckon we'll get 40+ out of him next year if he is allowed to play the role he is best suited for. Weid is a brilliant #2 tall forward - he plays that role really well. All we need to do is 1) not make him our #1 tall and 2) go find a #1 tall.
  17. brilliant assessment. my only thing is; that's hard on the weid
  18. I think this is far too simplistic. Does May have a documented history of alcohol abuse that has already threatened to end his career? No.

I'm not feeling as bad about that season as much as some, however I admittedly only watched about half the games live this year. That was a strategic move on my part after the Port loss because that was the moment we weren't a finals team in my opinion. I actually enjoyed the second half of the season being a fair-weather fan haha. Obviously disappointing, but I can see plenty positive's in there. I'll try to articulate them in the coming days, but for now it just feels like the same old Melbourne, doesn't it? I'm with @old dee - I will request the chairman comes good on his review promise also.
  20. might be too little too late from a list management perspective
  21. I wish AFL media would steer clear of commentary designed to incite what the public should be outraged about every week
  22. No-one that's currently on the list. Lucky for us this isn't a formal role that must be filled.
  23. Without being disrespectful to Jonesy; if he was a good leader he'd still be captain. I appreciate his loyalty through some of our hardest times, and he will rightly go down as a club champion, but I don't think he is the leader people think he is. I'd rather our Casey guys be influenced by someone who hasn't been tormented by many years trying to lead a horribly under-performing football club if possible. We need a fresh set of eyes everywhere we can in my mind.
  24. You cant be ruthless and sentimental at the same time. I've always loved Jonesy, but based on his output this year he should be hanging the boots up. I care far more about developing our younger players than I do about Jonesy reaching a personal milestone. I hope we can find a way to have him around the club as a member of the FD somehow ...
  25. It is likely an issue with their distribution list and/or a Microsoft Exchange error. It's very unlikely that renewals will be charged twice. Email systems and payment systems are two separate beasts.
