MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 15
bobby1554 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Now $7, and Melbourne into $1.10. Is it just me or do these odds seem a little skewed? Saints coming off a bye and morale boosting win, Dees off 2 losses. Certainly the punters out there fancy us! -
Starting to agree with these sentiments. The major problem we have at present is that our bottom 6-8 players just are not at the required level for us to become a top 4 side. And replacing them with others of the same standard will not solve the problem. Thats why the likes of Richmond, Sydney and Geelong, and possibly Collingwood, are where they are. Maybe we need to roll the dice and try some unknowns, such as Petty and Baker. I think we have over rated our list.

Nothing hard about that Febes, should be rubbed out for the rest of the year
-
OMac could be missing due to his hit on Marshall. Shouldn’t be, but you know the AFL! Other changes depend on form at Casey today. Garlett needs to play a blinder as his previous VFL form has been average at best. If Spargo is better, I would bring him in, for Tyson or Harmes. A good game from Weid and he comes in for Tim Smith. Stretch in the mix, again for Tyson or Harmes. Goodwin was pleased with the “behaviours” of the team, so don’t think there will be too many changes

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN O'CONNELL

I don't think physicality is the issue Big D. We lack leg speed which is exposing us on the wider ground, against the teams equipped to exploit it. And I wouldn't be pencilling in St Kilda and Freo, if we don't bring the right mindset to those games..........

Ladder predictors are a waste of time. Here is the only prediction meaningful - No-one can beat Richmond on the MCG
-
Not a great draft for GWS - Jarrod Pickett at 4, now with Carlton, Caleb Marchbank at 7, now with Carlton, Paul Ahern at 6, now with North.

https://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/C/Christian_Petracca.html Hi Ernest, table above. Averaged around 19 possessions a game in 2017
-
I think some of you may be judging Christian on what you "think" he should be as opposed to what he is delivering. He is on target to better his 2017 stats in most areas, especially 1% ers, other than goals kicked (that would be because of the different role he is playing this year). Also, don't forget he missed a year with an ACL. And please don't compare him with DeGoey, one is a fine young man, the other a f....wit.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC

Not exactly banging the door down at Casey. You would have to think that there are others ahead of him, such as Bugg, Tyson, JKH. What role would he play? Replacement for either of Hannan or Fritsch? No thanks. Would like to see him stay on the list though as his upside is youth -
We could miss finals with 13 wins

So Maynard, Dunn, Crisp, Howe, Scharenburg and Langdon is any better? Easy to say in hindsight. I would venture to say that if the midfield clearance dominance was reversed, then it would have been us by 7 goals! -
Petty in for Vince. Joel Smith can play a running defender role, he has pace. Hunt has not done enough in the Casey games to warrant selection. Nor has Garlett. Nor, for that matter, has Weideman, but going forward he is a better option than Pederson. I would give Pedo another go against Port. Tyson could come in, one of ANB, Hannan or Petracca to go out.

Ladder predictors don't factor in the upsets, which will happen. Any team thinking they have a win in the bag is heading for a loss. Yes, we do have a hard run home, but I think we have shown enough over the past 6 weeks to know we can match it with anyone. We keep bringing the same intensity and skills to each game, then we are going to win most. A week at a time!
-
And during the game outside the ground, running laps with Dom Tyson. Professional attitude. The tide has turned.
-
Agree with all of that. Outstanding 4 quarter performance.

Joined again as a member this year after a long absence. Believed all the hype. Taken 5 weeks to be utterly demoralised. Same old effing rubbish dished up by players who have absolutely no pride in the jumper. Season as good as over

Caleb Daniel goes ok -
Will it really matter who comes in? If you thought today was bad wait till Tuesday week

Spot on! Lets not forget we gave up 2 first round picks for Lever, thats a lot of talent not coming through the door. I was sceptical when the deal was done and nothing has transpired to date that would change my view.

Fully agree. Overated, nowhere near a first round pick. Develop what we have already and go hard at quality runners who can kick a football
