  1. Yes but all of this assumes we will win our remaining 3 games, which wont happen. At the moment we are horrible. The last 2 weeks have shown that our players are tired. Probably because the young ones have been asked to shoulder a lot of work due to the injuries we have had. They are basically running out of steam. Look at the uncontested stats, a big drop off in the past 4-5 games, players just aren't running to create space because they are knackered. Both St Kilda (who will probably win today as West Coast are useless outside of Perth) and Collingwood will beat us easily on our present form. And Brisbane will go close also.
  2. Predictable really. The next 3 quarters are going to tell us a LOT about this group
  3. At last some posters saying what i was howled down for recently. Seriously dont understand the love for this guy. Last time he took a game apart was rd 5 2016, which we lost. Since then a handful of good returns but mostly sub par efforts. Point is the club has invested heavily in Jesse and at the moment the return is minimal at best. Yep will probably become a good player, sadly it wont be in a Melbourne jumper. Time to invest in the future, give Weideman the gig
  4. Absolutely agree. Looked way off the pace. Cannot afford to have players "finding form" in the ones, especially at this crucial stage of the season. Back to Casey
  5. Credit where it is due. Not pretty, but a good physical presence by us that quarter has got us right back in this. Carlton seem to be taking their eye off the ball, more intent on push and shove.
  6. Yep, so typical of a Melbourne culture. Build the hopes up, then crash it all down in the blink of an eye. I fear this game will be over by half time, and so too the season.
  7. We have struggled against Carlton in recent times, even with our A graders in! This is an ELITE competition where the strong sides have a blend of superstars and decent players who make up the bottom 6 or 8 in their 22. We are in a position where a handful of our A graders are out, and our bottom players are not up to good AFL standard. You cannot expect the likes of Trengove, JKH, Kennedy, etc to come in and lift the required 10 to 20% as they do not have it in them. Over the next 3 to 4 weeks we should be trying to limit the damage and keep our percentage healthy, so would not be surprised to see Goodwin adopt a very defensive game plan. Carlton by 2 to 3 goals would be a good result.
  8. Yep, got it wrong during GC game. I suppose thats what 52 years supporting this club does to you. Yeah i could be positive and say we will win next weekend, but the realist in me says otherwise. And i think if you polled all of the posters on this site most would agree. A "horrible supporter", Wiseblood? No, one thats just seen it all way too many times before
  9. Good point but Hibberd came back via Casey. The point i am trying to make is that by the time we get these players back (which given our current lack of depth will be crucial to winning games), the gate will have shut. Over the next 4 weeks, West Coast, Sydney, Bulldogs, St Kilda and possibly Essendon will have gone past us. Then we play GWS away. Season over.
  10. The problem we have is that because it is such a tight competition we are realistically looking at dropping the next 4 games which will shunt as back to the lower section of the ladder. The current injured players will lose match fitness and as a result will take time to impact the result of games. With only 8 weeks left, it will be too great a hurdle to overcome. I love what this group has achieved so far this year, which is why this just seems hopeless and so bloody unfair. Footy can be a [censored] sometimes.
  11. Our finals chances are not in "serious jeopardy", they are over. We would not even beat Brisbane missing 8 of our best 22. We do not have the depth to cover these injuries for the next 4-5 weeks as the performance at Port Melbourne showed today. After the past 4 weeks i really thought we had something going here, but now that just seems a distant memory.
  12. These blokes would have to be the most OVERATED, OVERPAID pack of nancy boys I have ever seen play the game!!!! Promise so much but deliver bugger all. Have been following this miserable bunch now sine 1964, never will see success as there seems to be an ingrained culture of non-success. Far too many players accepting of defeat, either not willing or capable (or both) to do the hard yards required. No wonder Scully left! And if Goodwin had any brains he would quit before pushed and his reputation stained forever. Season over, club over!!
  13. There is a definite lack of leadership on the field. I know that Nathan Jones was absolutely filthy about the co-captaincy decision pre-season, and I think this is having an impact on his mindset. Couple that with Vineys terrible form and you have a leadership void.
