So looking purely at the draft spots we lose out here. Although other factors are clearly at play I am sure i.e. strength of this years & next years draft, father son selections pushing spots back, academy points needed, potentially packaging some of these picks up and swapping them again with other clubs, a particular player in mind etc. Will hold faith for now as the team have runs on the board

I think it was TIm Lamb leading, going by the clubs vids of trade nights when they picked up Jacko, Kozzie, and Rivers
-
Yep, in terms of chat about what's potentially going out, its: AVB Kade Chandler

Among the other clubs to come forward for the Suns' pick 19, which they were officially granted last week as part of the AFL's concession package, is Melbourne. The 2021 premiers' first pick for this year's draft is No.33 but the Demons are interested in grabbing the Suns' pick 19 in a deal that would require Melbourne to offload its future first-round pick.

The 22-year-old Stengle parted ways with the Crows at the start of this season but has gone on to star for Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL. He kicked 44 goals in 19 matches including three goals in the Grand Final win over Glenelg last weekend. As Stengle is a delisted free agent the Cats could pick him up without having to deal with the Crows, but would have to fight off reported interest from Melbourne, Collingwood and for a return to the Tigers. Welcome to Demonland: Luke Dunstan
Demons1858 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree, if we imagine a scenario where one maybe two of our mids/wings/forwards get injured he will be very handy pick up. He also won't cost us anything. Has excellent ball winning ability and Choco will sort out his kicking and decision making pretty quickly. -
Agree with that

I had a different take of him watching 'Making Their Mark' - didn't come across as someone that has a really strong presence about him when talking with the players. Small sample though
-
Given some of their top 10 trade misses in recent years they probably shouldn't be joke too much about it ...
-
If its a salary dump which the pies need in order to move on plus a future 1st rounder and sweetener then it is possible. We seem to have space in the cap given the Cerra approach
-
Given we don't have to make room (it seems) for a higher profile player to come in this trade period, it will be useful to keep our depth for another tilt at the 2022 flag. Melk & Weid, will get promised equal opportunities by Goody (if they work hard in the off season) and if we get a normal amount of injuries they become important for us again.

Hmmm ... doesn't seem like a promotion as such which makes the change curious ... perhaps he has a greater responsibility for team performance in the new role ... not sure

Think someone shared this earlier ... aggregates articles and vids also https://www.myheartbeatstrue.com/ -
Yep it's his bro who played a few games at MFC and had to retire due to injury ... recommend everyone pass this onto pies supporters they know ... it's guaranteed to get the alarm bells going after last years fire sale

Kate Roffey, the unsung hero of our success
Demons1858 replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes, but he started the rise to our premiership and his legacy deserves to stay intact hence why he has spoken out I suspect. Some of Kate's comments recently suggesting she has made a difference by showing Goody new found support are selfish if I am being honest. Never heard Glenn praise himself always talked about the board achievements. Hopefully Kate stops talking about herself -
Kate Roffey, the unsung hero of our success
Demons1858 replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seems some are trying to rewrite history on what Barlett did or didn't do ... if there is an unsung hero on the board it is he ... reserving judgement on Kate but initial impressions are she is pretty happy with herself ... Glenn has always been an honest type and so trust his comments below are true https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/10/01/ex-demons-president-revisits-soft-as-butter-criticism/ -
You can get anyone that adds to your list when you are in premiership mode as long as they improve your list and don't cost you anything extraordinary. 1 year or 5 years it doesn't matter if it wins you another flag
-
He is better around goals than most of our smalls so would be a good pick up in my view if he came for free ... Sparrow and Jordan are primarily mids that can go forward and contribute
-
-
Have never seen the amount reported that MFC are paying just that it was less per annum than Norf. Where did you get $1.8m from out of curiosity?
-
I think he does ok at MFC from a financial point of view as well ... we just added an extra year to what Norf had offered and smoothed out the money $$$

The talk by some of Jack becoming more selfless in 2021 is very odd to me. Although l get where some people are coming from, no one has been more team orientated than Jack from the moment he played his 1st game & nothing has changed, other than others can now extract the pill & we need someone to sacrifice themselves to play the support role needed to balance the mids out and take the next step. The 2018 finals series reminds us all of his ball winning abilities where he played like a bull despite a busted up foot and dragged us into the prelim. He also accepted his demotion as captain with much grace and was the first (or one of the first key mids) to commit long term before we started our 2021 winning streak. The following (patched up) quotes from his resigning have aged beautifully in my view and show an insight into the pressure Goody was feeling at the time and the need for primarily our other mids to embrace greater selflessness: Goody: “I’m one of the people who really believes in his vision, and he needs some strong characters to stand up beside him. I feel like if I was to head somewhere else and end my time at the club, then I would be hanging him out to dry a bit. So it was a big decision, and one of the big reasons I stayed.” Selfless mids: "We are established footballers and now it is time work out how we can best function as a unit. That is when we will really start making big inroads ... I feel like I’m willing to attack my role to allow other people and other players to use their strengths. That is something that I have always been willing to do and thankfully it is valued internally. But I think my lick of the ice cream will come when we are a successful team. And that is ultimately what my goal is. I didn’t make this decision to stay at the football club to get the individual recognition." Jack Viney says the Demons’ midfield unit can be “something really special” if they play with a more selfless attitude ... But Viney said there was no doubt the four of them all had an important place in the engine room, if they played the right way. “We have all got to sacrifice a little bit to work well together because there are only so many positions in the midfield ... If we can rotate through and work well as a unit, there is so much talent ... It can be something really special and massive advantage for us.” So true!!!

In the context of what players appear to be available and haven't already nominated a club, not sure anyone left will add to our list. Expecting a very very quiet trade period, with players more likely to go out than come in

It was awesome to see all 12 cups lined up in the long room for an old AGM so members can admire and take pics .. hopefully number 13 will be out and about very soon ... l hear it likes an interview and isn't shy
