  1. Who is going to ruck in round 1? PJ is a definite Jamar is little chance due to injury Meesen is just terrible Spencer is on the rookie list I am even more worried about our ruck situation than normal
  2. I was going to mention TJ, as he had one of the 'prettiest' kicking actions in the game, but he missed a lot of targets. I remember an article in the HS a few years back about players considered good kicks who were statistically very poor and TJ was top of the list. As for Morton, I think he is an decent kick now but his kicking may improve as he thickens out a bit. At the moment he is a bit lanky and rangey. Also, on the threads original topic, Grimes is very good odds at 33-1, and also a very good Dream Team option this year as he should rack up the possessions. Still think Daniel Rich is the best bet though.
  3. I dont totally agree with the law, but the AFL has stated that if you are going to lay a bump, it is up to you not to make contact with the oppositions players head. Maxwell's shoulder collected fair on the jaw so there can hardly be any complaints. It seems reasonably clear to me. Also, with an early plea and a better record it would of only been a 2 week suspension.
  4. I didn't catch much of the All Star game, but as soon as I turned it on midway through the 3rd quarter Wona marked and goaled and the commentators stated that he would have to be in contention for best on ground. Didn't see much of him after that but to stand out in a side like that is a promising sign.
  5. All previous AFL games have been [censored], whether coaching or actual play games...but Premiership Coach looks to be coming along quite well with a lot more detail and effort than previous [censored] poor efforts.
  6. Who is the guy standing with cheney in one picture and than further down with the ball in front on mcnamara? Simon Buckley is a unit! And if Kyle Cheney breaks into our best 22, with that stylish red mullet thing he has happening and his supposed aggression he could become a massive cult hero!
  7. Apart from the fact that your post looks like it has been typed by a chimp, it is a fair question. $3.5 million is a large deficit for a 12 month period, and even when we do get a sponsor and increased membership, we will need a lot more than that. But Im confident this board knows what it is doing and will make the right calls. The AFL made us cut our costs substantially IIRC, such as only paying the minimum of our salary cap, which would be around $800k saved from last year. There would be other cost cutting measures I am sure, and hopefully the board can generate some revenue from somewhere.
  8. When Stynes and co took over and later implemented debt demolition they outlined that we would post a loss of around $3mil, and even included that in the amount of debt related to debt demolition, which raised $3mil, so it is not much worse than expected. Article states we are $2mil in debt so in 2009, it is imperative that we post a profit and reduce that debt as much as possible.
  9. Rhys Healy, our second pick in rookie draft, anyone know anything??
  10. Matt Burgan says 193cm forward Played with Collingwood in the VFL and up north, and is highly rated
  11. Not that I could give an arse about the NAB Cup, I was hoping for at least one or two wins in this cup. Last year was terrible...waited 6 months for footy to finally roll around again, and then after 3 hours of getting battered all around Skilled Stadium, it was another month before we got to see our team again as we were sent to all corners off the country, with no TV coverage.
  12. I have been lead to believe he is very highly rated, but the injuries are a massive concern, I would be willing to take the risk on him if he does slip through.
  13. I would. I think CJ began to deliver last year. Small/Medium backs who provide some run with good disposal are hardly are strength. He is still young, and as the side improves I think he could do some damage. 2 Years is fair considering a number of our younger players were signed to 2 year deals earlier in the year, including Juice.
  14. I dont know heaps about draftees but from what I have read he is one I would like to get at 17/19 if available. Also, Tom Swift is another one who I hope slips to 17 and 19.
  15. He's got good pace and his disposal is decent for someone who has only taken to the game a couple of years back, maybe lacks a bit of physicality. A chance for a spot on the rookie list.
  16. Its definitely Moloney with his back to the camera in the blue short sleeved training shirt. Thats what he was wearing in the herald sun video footage, and he has shaved his head. And Jamar closer to camera on the ground.
  17. Same here, hopefully Bris at the Gabba for our sake. Will be making more trips back to Melbourne this year though, and a Friday night game against an Essendon, Hawthorn etc. would be a good one. I dont think we can expect more than one friday night game, as we get Queens bday aswell. And less Sunday games is a win.
  18. Some people need to realise it is not just as simple as saying we are going to trade Bell, Jamar, Wheatley etc. etc. Very few trades happen. If Port were interested in Bell, they would have offered a nothing pick, like pick 90, and they would of been scared off by the fact that he is apparently on 250K. Would of been nice to secure another pick in the top 20, but realistically we sont have anyone who is expendable who could fetch a pick that high (even if you lump a few of our players together)
  19. I agree that some of the B&F results were farcical, but Jones didnt have a great year and wasnt much better than 18th
  20. I am just excited that a player has not snubbed us, even if the main reason is our side is a shambles and he is assured of game time. Big plus is all our picks are slightly higher than Essendons. But we must not part with any top 20 picks
  21. Funny you should say this, the very first time I saw it I said to my girlfriend that he looked like Bails
  22. That is amazing, he had one good season, and it would seem he was signed to a 3 year deal worth $250,000+ a year. Unbelievable!
  23. Was a 2 horse race between Brock and Green until Brock got injured, so Green should win comfortably IMO. For Bruce, obviously 14th to 18th is a bit low YM, but IMO he should not finish in the top 5, although he probably will.
  24. Our next premiership captain, Brock McLean, to take the role in 2009.
  25. If Bell is on 300,000, he should donate at least half of that to debt demolition after the year he had.
