I would love to win those games against teams at similar levels to us, particularly North as they absolutely destroy us every time we play them. If we win 3 more I think that is a decent effort and will see us safe from spoon contention.
-
Wasn't aware he was a talented cricketer. Also noted the article said we are on a 5 game losing streak which isn't true, we are just on a 5 game winless streak
-
When I saw Spencer named I was worried to say the least, but I actually thought his first 3 quarters were pretty good. But he made 3 or 4 horrible clangers in the last quarter though.
-
What did everyone expect??? We matched one of the best two teams in the comp for 3 quarters and got blown away in the last. Wasn't a great performance by any means but most on here are going way to far. Might have to go back to my old rule of steering clear of demonland for 2-3 days after a loss

Lol, oh well, sorry to waste everybody's time. Not sure where I got that info from??? I remember the quote but didn't realise she supported them.

Not overly important, but given the goings on of the last few days, I remember hearing somewhere a while back that Julia Gillard is a Demons fan. Can anyone confirm this? Rudd was a Broncos fan and was seen a few times doing promotional stuff with the club such as being presented with signed jumpers etc, so who knows, we might see Julia doing similar stuff for the club, hardly inspiring but cant hurt.

Ill start off by saying that I really hope he stays, but who knows what will happen. I have heard that things taken into consideration include what pick they were drafted, how they have fared in club and fairest etc. Given he was a relatively late pick and hasn't been able to string whole seasons together due to injury, things wouldn't look good on that front. I would say he might slip into the 3rd category, but after seeing what he is capable of early in the season, the club has every right to think he belongs in the 2nd category.

Good on him. Deserves it after turning down a move to Adelaide to stay on the rookie list. Exactly the sort of guy we need on our list moving forward. Will be promoted at years end so consider this a full-time move onto the senior list.
-
Wasn't aware his time on the rookie list is up. That makes it an interesting decision that could go wither way IMO. Out of interest, how did we keep Hughes on the rookie list for so long??? was that because he had that year or two in the wilderness?
-
I notice a lot of people are upgrading Spencer to the main list. Why on earth would we do that when he is still years away from being anywhere near good enough. I am happy for him to stay on the rookie list and continue his development but he shouldnt be promoted and take the spot of a potential draft pick. As for PJ, I stuck by him after a bad year last year, but he was pitiful when given his chance again this year and has to go.
-
That is spot on. With Jimmy's spirit and an ounce of luck, hopefully he can see this off.
-
I agree...saying Richmond has more potential is hardly 'hate'. I have noticed an us against the world mentality on these boards lately, where everyone is out to get us, whether it be Dwayne Russell, Brian Taylor, Vlad Demetriou. Ridiculous.

Very harsh on watts. Didnt have a great game by any means but was far from a liability

Riewoldt is a perfect example of the need to show patience in young key forwards. Looks like a bit of a [censored] but he is playing some absolutely dominant football the last few weeks.
-
Disappointing...that is an improvement for them. Not that Dick is that great, but he did tear us apart last year or the year before.

Malthouse says there will be a change to their team this afternoon due to injury, he wont let on who it is yet though. Source: Hun

That sounds about right in terms of getting him outside the draft. But part of his salary coming from the AFL marketing fund is the confusing part for me. Would this option be available to all clubs?
-
He needs to work on not losing his feet so easily. Not worried though, still young and needs time bla bla bla.

This is in no way suggesting we got a bad go from the umps today, actually quite the opposite. I think we were on the right end of some dubious decisions, and those we gave away were silly and ill disciplined acts. I am starting to really worry about the way this rule is going this season. The umps are giving players less and less time to dispose of it and punishing players who are first to the ball more than ever. Also they are paying holding the ball if a team strings a couple of rushed handballs together before a player gets tackled even if that player has been tackled simultaneously as they receive the ball, I think I heard a commentator call it 'team prior opportunity'. I think they are ruining the nature of the game by not rewarding blokes willing to put their body on the line and get to ball first. Anyone else feel the same or are these beers blurring my thoughts.

I don't quite understand people complaining about the draw this year. We have had an almost dream run so far, having played interstate only once and that being our home game that we sold. And besides we wanted the game in Darwin so we deal with the consequences.
-
This is just wrong. The NRL will never be as big as the AFL, but to say it is dead or dying is ridiculous. There is a large and very loyal supporter base for the sport up here in the northern states and while the AFL may be able to get more juniors playing and following our game, Rugby League will always be around.

Holy [censored] Frawley is massive in that photo

Why was Cameron Bruce taking the kick ins?
Forest Demon replied to Bang Bang Bang's topic in Melbourne Demons
Exactly...Bruce shouldn't take the kick ins but he can't be blamed for our inability to execute them decently. It was back to the good old days of the last couple of years with no movement and the only option was a chip into the pocket or a long bomb to an out numbered Jamar. And our defending of the kick ins was also woeful. They have to turn up and be ready to run their balls off both ways, but unfortunately they did neither on Saturday. -
Even though it is not at all a funny situation, i couldn't help but have a little chuckle when i read that.

PJ was shite last year, but I think some people forget he was good the year or two prior to that. Very athletic and quick for a big man, and definitely has more to offer than Spencer and Martin at the moment.
