Yesterday was pretty ordinary, but those first few games were no exaggeration, pretty much the worst few performances I have ever seen. I think we have improved but we are still rubbish. Next year will be very interesting and will be where we see if neeld really has made any inroads.
-
That is pretty much how I see it. Had a great season or two a few years back but has dropped of a bit, but would still walk into our 22. Definitely should sign him if an option.
-
This is just getting ridiculous, if every year was as bad as this one then I would honestly have to toss it in. As for Liam, hopefully the court case sorts itself out positively before too long and he can just get back to doing what he loves without all this stuff mind f@$king him every single day, I can't even imagine how hard it would be to focus and get on with it, and it sounds like there is a lot more to it than I, or most on here, have any idea about. I am desperate for him to be more than just a flash in the pan.

The way I understand it is there are 2 types of free agents: Unrestricted Free Agents - those who are out of contract and have been at the club for either 10+ years, or they have been at the club 8-10 years and are not in the top 25% of earners at the club. These players can sign for whoever they wish, and the current club has no option to match the offer. Restricted Free Agents - those who are out of contract and have been at the club 8-10 years and are in the top 25% of earners at the club. These players can pick any club they wish, but the current club can match the offer if they wish.

Found it a bit amusing he has copped it on here. He may be a dud, but we wouldn't really have a clue of the workings of the football department and his specific role. All we do know is we are undermanned in the midfield and have been for a few years now.

Petterd out for (what's left of the) Season
Forest Demon replied to The Chazz's topic in Melbourne Demons
He is as good as gone. I think he will get a chance at another club, and while I wish him well, I would almost be [censored] off if he showed the consistent effort at a new club that he has not delivered here. -
We are the third worst team in the comp, but I don't think beating the sides below us has been a problem this year. We thumped GWS and blew GC away in the the 1st quarter, and I don't see the days where we don't turn up and get beat a bottom side or pumped by 100+ returning under Neeld.
-
Talking about Colin's potential is almost as silly as those who want to [censored] him off. He is what he is, and it is not elite, but it is a hell of a lot better than most of the list.
-
Hopefully he can look back and say he did all he could to make it. Getting on an afl list is a lot more than 99% of footballers. Good luck to him in whatever he chooses to do.
-
Understandable, but I don't think we would get much for him. I wouldn't part with him for a second round pick in what by that stage of the draft, is a massive lottery.
-
I'll put my hand up and say I have potted him in the past and said I don't think he will make it, but thought he was one of our best today. Still has a way to go obviously, but he just gives his all and if he has the tools to do it then you can rest assured he will do his best to make sure it happens.
-
Again, I think that is horse sh*t. There are many players on our list who only perform against rubbish teams when we are winning, and I distinctly remember Sylvia playing some decent games against some good teams, 3 votes when we were pumped by Hawthorn spring to mind. I am not saying he is a world beater, just saying he is marked far more harshly on here than others who seem to go under the radar, like a Garland.
-
Pretty sure if worse came to worse, he could not sign, then not nominate for the National Draft, and just nominate for the PSD and walk to GWS. Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is what could happen. But anyway, that is all speculation, I am confident he will sign with us in the next few weeks hopefully along with Strauss, as he has been excellent considering the injury he suffered only mid last year.
-
Yep, they have no idea with this clash strip stuff. It really isn't rocket science.
-
IMO, players who perform well in under performing teams are worth more than front runners who perform when there team are on top. And of course he is not Gary Ablett, and the quicker Melbourne fans realise he is no superstar and just a solid footballer the better for all involved.
-
Judged more harshly than other players just because he is a lad and because he isn't the superstar we hoped he would become. Produces more than 80% of our list.
-
Horse [censored]. Has been one of our best in the second half of the year, and although he was ordinary today, there are plenty in the gun before him. Saying that, if a club threw a first rounder at him you would take it, but it ain't going to happen.
-
Jake Spencer has genuinely been one of our best 2 or 3 today.
-
I have only seen Beau Wilkes play 2 games, but he is the white Buddy Franlklin. He must be leading the Coleman surely. Looks like a superstar.
-
We get on top for a quarter and kick maybe 3 goals to 1, and then St Kilda get the ascendency for 20 minutes and we just roll over and cop something stupid like 8 goals to zilch. Excuse my frech, but [censored] this is pissing me off.

Would love a where are they now on some of those guys. They are the ones that get a favourable article in the HUN and every supporter wants to pick them up.

Captain Jack Grimes: 50 games this weekend
Forest Demon replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good to see he hasn't missed any footy this year through injury. Hopefully it continues. I think he has done a really good job as captain and I love the way he plays his footy. Always throws himself in there and will almost always win those 50-50 contests. -
Contract discussions put on hold for eleven Demons
Forest Demon replied to DemonDave's topic in Melbourne Demons
If I were in charge - Delist - MacDonald, Petterd, Dunn, Bate, Bartram, Bennell, Davis, Spencer Re-Sign - Jurrah, Moloney, Rivers, Strauss, Bail, Blease, Sellar -
Sort of off topic, but it is quite amazing how many top 20 picks Sydney have blown over the last 7 or 8 years. I was looking through it a few months back and the list was littered with blokes who played only a handful of games or that I had never even heard of. They have done amazingly well with their later picks to be so solid over the last 10 years and be in the hunt this year.

Brad Green's Retirement - It's Official
Forest Demon replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would rather him stay a year too long then leave a year early, and I still think he has a bit to offer and has been our most dangerous forward the last few weeks. One year deal if he is keen for it would be my plan.
