Boozy Dees Ejected from G on Boxing Day
Forest Demon replied to Tony Tea's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am with you mate. As I said, it is basically harmless, just a bit stupid. To be honest, I will have completely forgotten about this issue by the turn of the year, and as long as it isn't hurting anyone and it doesn't affect their footy which a few drinks while on holiday won't, then I don't really give a [censored]. -
Boozy Dees Ejected from G on Boxing Day
Forest Demon replied to Tony Tea's topic in Melbourne Demons
Completely harmless but stupid. Can't say any of those lads have ever struck me as having too much between the ears. Chip can barely construct a sentence when interviewed. -
Prefer football (soccer) as a sport but only one team in the world in any sport I passionately care about.

Haha, well, didn't see that coming. Surely he pays his own way back from Darwin now!

Anyone happy with Trengove's output in 2012 has set the bar too low. Personally, I'm not overly concerned as I think there were reasons, such as injury, new game plan, role and focus on his defensive duties, and he looks like the sort of guy who, coupled with the new professionalism around the club, will get the most out of himself.

No expert on these things, but this year was just one disaster after the next, both on field and off, with the sponsorship whack we copped from EnergyWatch etc. To me that suggests that even though I suspected there was definitely a bit of 'window dressing' as you put it, to show a small gain rather than a small loss, the fact that with way, we pretty much broke even this year is a pretty good sign really.

About time someone dished up a little dose of reality as I think there are a few on here getting a little carried away. In saying that, I don't think it is possible to get any worse, and I like the sound of what Neeld is doing, so I think we will improve, just not as much as some are hoping.

Whole situation sucks balls, and unfortunately we are one of the big losers (not even sure there are any winners). And I find it hard it hard to really understand Liam's position and judge him, but must admit his departure has left a very sour taste in my mouth. But, we must move on and forget about him. Not sure players like Jurrah who get by on natural ability alone without the application to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to their career are cut out to play in good finals competing sides anyway.

People need to realise we now have no more of a hold on him than any other club. If he ever did walk out, we will only be one of many trying to lure him. And obviously he is going to say what he has. I honestly hope he plays his career out at port and does well.

Trengove was ordinary in 2012, but in no way was he gifted games. A rest may have been an idea, but was far from deserving being dropped. General consensus on here was that were underlying injury problems that lead to a sub-par 2012, and I firmly believe that was the case, although I don't think we will hear the club confirm it. Either way, we will wait and see. Needs to be a lot better, and I am confident he will be.

Did I miss something with Ben 'better pickup than Mitch Clark' Hudson training with Collingwood. I thought he retired or has he done yet another about face.

Training - Monday, 26th November, 2012
Forest Demon replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's official. We are training the house down. -
Ok, so apparently the 'silver tails' explains why we don't want to touch him. But why did 17 other clubs not even want a bar of him with any pick. If anyone thinks this is about a couple of beers and the odd [censored], you are delusional.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JIMMY TOUMPAS
Forest Demon replied to Demanding Success's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed. He isn't big but wouldn't look out of place on the field at this level. Was watching the draft and they were interviewing Jackson Macrae, and the Mrs said '[censored], look how skinny he is, he looks like Cale Morton'. -

<scully paranoia> Looked a little too happy in the interview, looked like a front to me </scully paranoia> On a serious note, was great to see a kid picked by Melbourne and look like he had just won the lotto while potting Heidi Klum. Welcome to the MFC Dimitri. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MATT JONES
Forest Demon replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Spot on. It is not as simple as some make it out to be. Perhaps we were keen on him but knew there was another club waiting to pounce etc. All we can do is welcome him to the club, wish hom the best, and support him. -
I suspect that if he was not worth the risk at 52, then he won't be worth the risk on the rookie list
-
They obviously know they are going to cop it. So may as well hand over their selections this year as they are late in their respective rounds due to the Crow's better than expected season, rather than likely higher picks that may have to be handed back in the future. Still, it all seems a bit odd.

If you don't like Jack Watts threads, then dont open them. But for me, I am happy to talk Jack Watts all day long, just have to ignore 1 or 2 ridiculous posts. One of the few on the list with the skills to be a star, but currently just floating through his career and at this rate will finish with a decent, but underwhelming career. After seeing so many players clearly not up to it over the last few years, it is at least refreshing to watch one with genuine talent. As someone stated, hopefully he benefits from a rise in standards and expectation at the club.

I also get the feeling that, if available, we will be taking Wines regardless of who else is on the table. I haven't watched enough junior footy to make an informed opinion of the two, but must admit that Toumpas' skill set appeals to our needs. -
Who would you add/remove from the Leadership Group?
Forest Demon replied to cooko's topic in Melbourne Demons
While I think we are in a position to judge players' football ability as most of us watch a lot of footy, personally I find it almost impossible to talk about who should be in leadership groups as it is probably 10% football and 90% application, work ethic, and other traits that are only revealed behind closed doors at the club. After that disclaimer, I will say: OUT: Bartram (retired), Garland (very frustrating player and too often looks stoned) IN: maybe 1 or 2 of the new guys who have proven experience like Byrnes and Dawes. Can;t think of any of last year's group who deserve a promotion. -
Training - Wednesday 14th November, 2012 Welcome Chris Dawes
Forest Demon replied to Demon Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am neither here nor there on the Watts bulk issue, but funny how a couple of years ago many kept saying all Watts needs to do is bulk up a bit and he will feel at home and take games by the scruff of the neck. And now we have people saying he doesn't need to bulk up. Jack Watts is easily best 22, but he will never be a top 50 player in the league with his current deficiencies. Has the talent and will always be serviceable, but capable of a lot more. And I am talking right now, not in 3 years time. -
Hate to see anyone not get a full crack at a footy career because of injury, it's very unfair. Especially when it is someone who had a dip and never gave anything less than 100% for the MFC. I know he wouldn't read this thread, but I hope he knows that the MFC faithful are very thankful for his efforts and he isn't lost to the club. Good luck with everything Barts.

I am happy for all 3 to get another contract. More interested in the length of the deals to be honest. Would be good if they all got 1 year deals and have it all to play for again next season, and reward them if they deserve it.
