  1. It has become obviously clear, even before he left the MFC, that Brock McLean is one of the stupider and harder to like characters in the game. This incident is really neither here nor there, but you have to question what, if anything, goes through this blokes head.
  2. Not happy. Paint it any way you like but I'm not happy that Moloney and Rivers are both walking, especially for nothing in return but other free agents who are by no means better credentialed.
  3. I have an uneasy feeling about heading into such a big draft for the club with the recruiting setup as it is currently. They really can't afford to fudge this year up with such a strong draft hand. Hopefully it is not one of those things we look back on and say how the hell did this happen. Obviously they can't do worse than CC and BP, but they must do a hell of a lot better.
  4. Patrick Karnezis is still only 20 years old so any comparison to Dunn is a bit unfair. Brisbane have rated him highly although he had an ordinary year this year. Brisbane would want our compo pick which I would prefer a pure mid and our 2nd rounder hopefully tied up in securing Viney, so it may be a little difficult to do.
  5. Up there with my most frustrating Melbourne players. Was not far short of terrible this year, and always seemed to fly under the radar while others copped whacks on here.
  6. Surely if it was conditional you would have bailed by now. Even those who say it is, are probably kidding themselves and would keep turning up or tuning in to watch the dees. At least when you are rubbish, each win is a big high...I was floating for a week after beating essendon...how sad.
  7. Not really a Dunn fan and wouldn't be disappointed if he was delisted, but his year has been underrated on these forums. Never going to be a gun but he had a decent second half of the season, and his first half of the season was ok as well even though he was sub on a few occasions. I would not be suprised if he finished 5-10 in the B&F.
  8. Must admit it never crossed my mind that he would still get paid out the last year of his contract if he retired, but I guess it makes sense if it is due to injury he has copped as an employee of the club. Out of interest, if say someone like Mathew Scarlett has pulled the pin because he is simply over it and not up to doing a pre-season etc, and he still had a year to run on his deal, surely he gets nothing.
  9. Geez. I'm certain I am not the only one who saw a thread called 'Sylvia Incident' on the forum and thought [censored], what has Colin done now. Thank god it was just this one bumped.
  10. Really terrible. Breaks me when I hear of any young person who dies suddenly, regardless of who they are or what the circumstances are. Nobody gets to say goodbye and so much life is wasted. Really feel for his family.
  11. Would love to see the post. It wasn't anything over the top, just the usual stuff you hear from recruiters after a draft. I was more just saying with tongue in cheek, how after these drafts we are always told how lucky we were to get certain players etc, but then when you look back years later it rarely pans out as planned...well for us anyway.
  12. I still remember Craig Cameron posting on here as he was leaving the club after the 2007 draft and crapping on about how he had left us with this great group of draftees headed by Cale Morton. Bastard.
  13. From the outside looking in, it would be hard to argue that the MFC has done anything but throw enormous support behind Liam when many others may not have. I hope someone at the club calls Gilbert up on this, and see if he can back up a statement like that, which would be unlikely considering the bloke struggles to construct a logical sentence at the best of times.
  14. Looked good there a year or two back, but went backwards for whatever reason otherwise I guess he would still be at Carlton. I wouldn't really be in too good a position to comment on him specifically, does anyone know if he is a decent kick?
  15. Absolutely ridiculous that Aaron Davey is copping it over this. The Jurrah events couldn't be any more out of his control, and Kel Lawrence was clearly getting the flick at the end of the season and decided to head home early.
  16. And that is that. 2012 can G&GF.
  17. That may be true, but we should still be doing everything we can to ensure Jack becomes the best footballer he possibly can. For me (and many) he needs a significant lift in intensity to reach the heights he is capable of, else I fear he will float through his career and be a decent, but flakey and frustrating performer. He is capable of a lot more.
  18. True. Forgot about that. And if we are going to be as active as we say we are, then it is unlikely we will receive anything for Moloney (other than any FA's we sign).
  19. I think we would, but I think they are a lot less generous with compo picks with FA, so it probably wouldn't be much more than a late second rounder. I am keen for him to stay though.
  20. Anyone who says McKenzie is no good because he doesn't 'grab the ball, run it out of the guts and kick goals' (like they are a dime a dozen) has little idea of modern football. He will be judged on how he performs the role he is asked to do, which he is doing reasonably well. Every midfield needs defensively minded players, nobody can completely fill their midfield with Abletts and Pendleburys.
  21. I tend to agree...Although I wouldn't say Mathouse got lucky, but I would say it took him a long time to get them to the top.
  22. You have a go at a poster earlier about having a low post count meaning they don't watch much footy, yet you say that about his season. Maybe you should heed your own advice. I could count the number of players on one hand who have played as many good games as he has played in the last 2 months, in the entire season.
  23. He was comprehensively dismantled today. In 2010, I knew that whoever he went and stood beside was going to struggle to kick 1 or 2, perhaps Buddy excepted. While he has been far from terrible, he doesn't look the same player this year. He was a physical beast in 2010.
  24. He is on a hiding to nothing with most nuffies on here. He plays [censored] he gets slagged off, he plays well they will still slag him off and say the opposition was rubbish or the game was meaningless. Round 1 aside, this game was as meaningful as any other.
  25. I think one definite recruit will be a 'ready to go' small forward, possibly on the rookie list, and if that is Aussie then great. He needs to show that he is fit enough and has the desire to do the hard work, and that is the big question that we have no idea about. A fully fit Wonna would be a good addition to our list IMO. I think his pace and 'spark' were a tad overrated, but the thing I loved about Wonna was that while his kick wasn't overly penetrating, it was as deadly accurate as anyones. He rarely missed a target or set shot.
