  1. I would not mind that at all actualy but If he doesnt get a contract at Melbourne I would expect he will get an offer elsewhere. He isnt a part of our future but he could still be a stopgap for a poor team or a backup forward for a good one. Reunite with Cloke at the Dogs? Even the Hawks might be interested if they lose a forward in the O'Meara/Mitchell aquisitions.
  2. 1 Hawthorn No contest. Will be remembered for decades to come. 2 Port Adelaide We played our grand final putting everything into the hawks then backed it up a week later... away. Albeit against a very poor Port Adelaide 3 Gold Coast Away Underated win imo. Although we played a poor team it was away and we struggled to get control in the first half. I liked that we were able to just pull away from a team like that. 4 Greater Western Sydney Come from behind, never give up win.. any win from behind is a good win 5 Collingwood QB Queens Birthday needed to be won its still the biggest day on our calender and we got the job done. 6 Richmond Felt alot better at the time and could go ahead of QB, it was a good all around game from us on what will hopefully be our second biggest day for a few years to come 7 Collingwood The Other One Best of the rest. Job done against a club on the slide 8 Gold Coast Home Thank god Watts got it done that day god knows nobody else was... Worst win in a long while... but better to have terrible wins than terrible losses 9 Fremantle Yay we won in darwin... Not much else to get excited about. 10 Brisbane Terrible team, somewhat underwhelming yet emphatic win. Did what we needed to without being spectacular. Side note: To borrow from basketball, it was good to sweep both Collingwood and Gold Coast in the respective "season series" They weren't great teams this year but if they feel about us the way we feel about St Kilda right now thats a good result in my book.
  3. Was good to see us start to bring some of these 8000+ point wins its about time.
  4. Whether he is actually "gone" or not... did nobody see this coming? He was always going to go home for at least some the off season. As soon as he inevitably boarded the plane we were going to hear all the media rave about it. I'm no way more confident that he will stay than I was at the start of the year but the media can put whatever tag on him traveling home not like he would actually call them up and tell them. Its all just crap look I can speculate too: Maybe he isnt there pondering his future maybe he misses feeding the birds on swan river. OR maybe he left his headphones there last time he visited. Or.. or! Maybe and this one is a bit of a stretch here but maybe he just wants to go visit his family and friends.... Personaly I think that feeding the birds is the most likely he seems like a bird feeder to me, but feel free to suggest your own reasons
  5. That would be like trying to buy your groceries with Monopoly money. However, if we could get him for a reasonable price i would be happy.
  6. I still think that in 2016 both Melbourne and St Kilda are as good if not better sides than West Coast.... They are just as inconsistant the only differance is they have that "fortress" to hide behind... Although there are some rather large cracks forming in their fortress walls. Their spot in the 8 is ripe for the picking next year.
  7. You could argue that a decrease in rotations means less time of the best players playing at their peak but that didnt stop them
  8. Is it the future? Yes. Do I like it? No.
  9. Idk whats more embarassing... Jesse's flop or Jeffy's miss...
  10. Oh I have no problem with us getting him. I dont mind an assistant coming in for a year. If he gets promoted to a senior role then that probably means he was worth having for that year. I was just agreeing that it would be very unlikely he would be here longer than that
  11. Given Richmond and Collingwood could be looking for new coaches next year I would be surprised if he was with anyone as an assistant longer than a year. You could even argue Freo if they dont find a way to rebound with their injury list shorter. Thats not to mention the Suns if they fall in a heap again next year Rocket will be under pressure, injuriy list has protected him for now but that will only last so long.... And Scott will be good as gone if North fall as we expect them to, cant imagine him being tasked with the rebuild. Add in Hinkley if Port dont improve. Brissy probably firing Leppa now to get the best available because there very well could be a large selection of coaching roles available next year.
  12. I would keep M. Jones as a backup. But other that I agree. Look at the Giants, they are essentially a group of kids with a player/coach in each part of the ground. Stevie, Shaw, Griffen, Mummy for a start. I am happy to debate whether Thompson is the one we should get. Personally I think someone with 2 years of playing service and idk if Scott had that left in him. But at the very least 1 of our pickups this trade period should be a player/coach.
  13. Couldn't agree more. Its all about the first 6-8 weeks if we get a draw that allows us to sit around the 5-3 mark coming into the middle third of the year it would be a good result. I would rather a tough finish than a tough start. Momentum and confidence does so much especially to a young group like ours.
  14. I know alot have put him in the trade bait list but I like JKH. I think he needs 1 more year. Want to see him get an injury free run. He has skill and while I would like him to be half a step faster I think he could fill a role in the future. Esspecialy with questionable consistancy from our current small forwards. A full pre-season and he will be right up in round 1 selection discussions. I also think he could potentially rotate with others and play on the other wing opposite to Billy. People on here seem insistant on moving Hunt out of the backline onto that wing. God only knows why. He has come in and been a revelation on the back flank so lets move him somewhere else?! Makes no sense to me.
  15. Red flags went up as soon as big Maxy did his victory lap after that game.
  16. Given the number of posts I have seen from you on this topic I dont think "Speechless" is the right word.
  17. They were fighting for top 4 when they played against Richmond and did everything humanly possible to lose that game.
  18. My understanding is you can trade for those picks but you need to delist enough players to make those picks useable. So trading a 2nd rounder for two 3rds and a 4th will still be a valid trade but it would be pointless if you dont have enough space on your list to access the 4th rounder. I think it is crap, it just fortifys the power of the academy because now other clubs can't take advantage of a bad situation. Its not like it will stop them getting their academy players...
  19. Grimes is 27 not 35... He wont want to go to coaching just yet
  20. Agreed, I know that Gawn and Viney are likely front runners for the B&F but Tyson is my smokey his year has been fantastic particularly his second half, he will come home with a wet sail.
  21. I like the optomism and I agree with you to a point, but richmond has been saying that for the past 4 years... someone or possibly more than one will take a step backwards or stagnate next year.
  22. Grimes: Decision is easy its saying it out loud that is uncomfortable. He no longer has a place in the side has too many ahead of him and would be better off elsewhere. Sucks to be him but that is footy, sometimes the timing just isnt right, if he had come to the club this year he would be a future champion. Trengrove: Trenners is the tough decision. So long out due to injury not tallent, but serious doubts as to whether he will ever be capable at AFL level again. Slower than a turtle strapped to lead weights and plays a role competed for by about so many others. But tries his guts out every time he walks on the park. If a team comes for him with a reasonable deal I suspect the club will take it. However if nobody comes knocking then I guess he gets a 1 year extension. Unfortunately if he gets the extension then never breaks back into the senior side then any currency he has now will be gone by the end of next year...
  23. I believe you are refering to us beating the Gold Coast.
  24. He is only a kid, he cant be expected to play well when the team plays poorly. Despite all the complaints (including form myself) i think sometimes we forget how freakish it is what Hogan is doing, at his experiance level to have that kind of impact in a poor side is pretty incredible. What i want to see from Weid is him play well in good games. He is young and a passenger, in 3/4 years time he needs to be hogan-like in his influence on a poor game, not now. If he is playing poorly when the rest of the team plays well then questions get asked. Either way I dont see any point in dropping weid this week, just give him another run with Hogan hopefully with a better performance from those around him.
