  1. This speaks wonders for the progress of the club. Tom clearly thinks he is worth more than the contract he has signed. But despite that he has chosen to stay, he sees potential success. Big signing(s) in more ways than one.
  2. I would like to see us go after GWS picks 14/15. We have a good recent record of improving our draft position. If we can trade some players out for low picks then trade them as points to the Giants for a late 1st round that would be a good result for us. Even if we dont use it as a pick, trading with a late first rounder gives us some more bargining power should we need it to get a player in.
  3. I think the argument is stupid too but I dont think I'll be coming down from this high until saturday night! I'm conserned it may be a bit of a crash landing
  4. 100% agree, I cant get over people making that argument. It's like saying if the Swans won a game without Franklin they should never play him .
  5. Direct Correlation between his sharp drop in form and when he went off in the St Kilda game. I was a big fan of him having last week off knee swolen or not. Hopefully coming back after the rest he will be back up near his best. But I also wouldnt hate him having another week. If he is carrying anything he should have the load taken off him a bit these last 3 weeks
  6. If they come out like that they will beat any team outside the top 5 or 6, with ease, 9 times out of 10. Unfortunatly the reality of being a young side is not their incapability its just inconsistancy. I hope they will be up this week but I am very cautious about getting too excited.
  7. 1998 the last time we went through an entire season without losing 3 games in a row at any point. The time before that? 1964.
  8. This thread was before my time but have to say that skimming though it seems there were some very good calls.
  9. I would have liked to see him step in and force contact so Gunston didnt have a free run. Either way an Oscar success there would have required a huge failure on Gunston's part, that kind of intercept is as easy as they come.
  10. I do agree that sometimes the reciever is to blame for a turnover but not in this case. The zone is set up with 2 players who are there to stand on the left and right side of the centre circle. That way we have both wings covered in the event of a turnover. If the players wish to switch they should either kick to closer player (in this case they were manned up) or kick far to the advantage of the far player. Nothing wrong at all with Oscars posiotioning it was poor delivery. A 10m shorter kick for him to run onto or a kick 10m further backwards would have been fine. I know people seem to like blaming Oscar for things but there is no way to blame him for this, it was all on Brayshaw. Not a knock on him as a player he made a mistake, he wont do it again any time soon.
  11. I feel a little for Brayshaw he does everything right 9 times out of 10 then lets himself down with a really bad turnover. Personally I think that kick was unnecessary (should have been 50 and a set shot but lets ignore that) Given his position a kick down the line should have been taken. Especially kicking across the ground to the last man. Take the inboard kicks Vince to Bugg or Vince to Watts in the last. Both of them were kicked to players who were in also in space but also backed up. If there was a mistake on either there were defenders behind the ball to cover them if there was a turnover. Oscar was left to wait with nobody behind him to back him up if the kick was poor. There is a time and a place to make the risky inboard kick but you need to be aware of what will happen if there is a turnover.
  12. IMO the AFL wrongly rejected our claim, near a decade without finals (which has now passed) we were the perfect case. Now Brissy are in the same position no sence making the wrong choice again, give them a pick and hopefully they can actually keep the kid they pick up. Sick of seeing the same teams down the bottom, it's time for a change, its too easy to stay up near the top. Repeated failures such as ourselves and now brissy should be helped.
  13. yeah he was paid a free because he stopped and blocked to keep the space and his man tackled him in frustration. Free or no free the decision to make the space was good. I like seeing good off the ball efforts Watts does then as good as anyone. If more players develop it we will be a much better side.
  14. Vanders off the ball effort to ensure Brayshaw had that space running forward cannot be understated either. Could just as easily run close looking for a cheap handball receive but just held his man out of the contest. Want to see more of that.
  15. My only problem is we often switch slowly, we need to switch faster do find those holes more frequenty. But that will come with time playing together. And sometimes we need to bite the bullet and go down the line to a contest quickly rather than going back and forth then kicking to a contest when the zone is completely set. All experience that we will have to wait for them to get.
  16. I'm sure moving 0.5km west will help his Perth family issues
  17. Not really, he is in just about every week now, 1 rest about a month ago but he is still young. I highly doubt that they are under-appreciating him. I love how penetrating his kick is, as he develops his meters gained will continue to go up. The fact he can run 30-40m then kick it 50-60m and hit a man in the goal square can never be understated.
  18. The still seem to play Hunt off the HBF but he seems to have the a licence to play furthest up the ground because he has the pace to transition fast. He runs as hard back as anyone and with his pace it's a fantastic weapon. That almost chace down of bruest would have been fantastic his closing speed was just too fast for his own good.
  19. I like his speed in the midfield, as with Kent. While I wasnt "happy" with Garlett's performance from what I saw he had a bigger impact on Saturday than his previous few weeks. Would like him to get back on the scoreboard more but at least he was involved in the game.
  20. Its poor wording it really should say "low damage" because thats all that matters. You can be as cowardly and dirty player as you want to be as long as you dont hit anyone hard.
  21. In all seriousness can you please direct me to that rule? My understanding is any bump is fine as long as it isnt high or directly in the back.
  22. Look there are controversial decisions like the non-call rioli high tackle on jetta and the rioli duck moments later that I want talked about. The vince hit is an umpiring decision mistake clear as day, I dont think Kennedy has to answer for that. The others I'm thinking more were a lack of consistiant interpretation with that kind of stark inconsistancy within the space of a couple of minutes being a major issue.
  23. I look at those names and have to feel for Sicily, If only he had a differnt name he would have gotten off. Maybe he should consider changing his name to James Hodge, James Rioli or James Mitchell just to ensure this doesnt happen again
