Did it? It was his second game and the delivery into the forward 50 was lower quality than in under 10s. I would judge him more on a game where he is given ample opportunity to have the ball delivered in any kind of usefull way. If the ball is coming in clean and he isnt having an influence then i would agree he isnt ready.

I'm 23 I have decades to spare I agree we should be getting senior players to continue our move up, but Boomer has 1 year left. We should look at players who we can get 2+ years of service. I think there will be other senior delistings over the coming weeks that could provide us more than Boomer can.
-
If we were a top 6 team looking to take the next step then yes he would be usefull. Unfortunatly we are not, Boomer is a star and may have deserved another year, but not for us. I suspect that he will reluctantly retire a one-club man and be happy that he went while he was still playing good footy. Hate watching players who limp to the line.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

If I was at the club I would be giving Carey a call and offering him a part time role at the club. Working with all the forwards. Maybe once a week or even just once a fortnight, work on everything from body language to technique and maybe even forwardline chemistry. -
Ok just to clarify I said he had been poor most of the second half of the year not just Sunday. That aside, Salem is the obvious choice to replace him. If not then maybe Wagner. Out of the square solution maybe play Jones off HB like they have at times and play ANB in the middle where he is actually usefull, then you can have in of Garlett/Kennedy/JKH for Vince. There are many options, its last game we might as well try something

A Poor game or 2 is acceptable but repeated poor form should not be. There are players in the 2s who deserve a spot over bernie who has been poor recently. He is in our best 22 and will play round 1 next year without doubt, but it will serve as a reminder for him and everone else that no matter who you are if you are continually poor you get dropped. You're right, what bernie has brought since he moved from Adelaide has been nothing short of outstanding. But that doesnt change the fact he has been poor in the last half of the season. Since the bye I remember 2 good games against St kilda and Port and an average "good enough" type game against hawthorn inbetween a long string of not so good games... If it was poor games in between good ones i would agree its an overreaction, but his long term form has not been very good. 3/8 isnt good enough

Essendon and Carlton maybe but i dont think you are giving the Saints enough credit, when they are on they have shown as much if not more than us this year. -
Agree but who do you take out of that inside midfield? Jones, Viney, Tyson, Oliver are the main ones he is competing with, he cant take any of their spots. Exception is maybe Oliver if they want to rest him, but no use doing that with just 1 game to go. He should continue to play at Casey and come in when an inside mid spot becomes available, not played out of position in the seniors. We wont have a flawless injury run every year, he will get his chance

I have been growing conserned by our midfield. I Criticised the West Coast midfield for being usless withough NicNat hitting it down their throats. But it was painfully obvious yesterday that when Gawn has a down day we are also in all sorts of trouble. Our players seem incapable of reading of opposition ruckman and if gawn doesnt win the tap we are consistantly our of position and we cant stop the clean get way from there. We need a plan B structure for when Gawn is out or non-influential. The structure we have is lethal when he is dominating but without his dominaton we are hopeless. Players need to be able to make the call to switch between Gawn and non-Gawn structure depending on the state of the game. If he starts to get on top again then go attacking but if not just prevent them from getting on the outside, because we are too slow on the outside to defend once a team is out -
I dont want all of these changes but at least 3 of them, need to try a few things The result matters less than seeing what type of play we dish up. Out: ANB - He is an inside mid not a small forward needs to played as such or at Casey Michie - Average/ok with the ball but doesnt do enough Bugg - Was ok but makes way for Salem Vince - Poor form since the bye example to be made Kent - If injured, he played out the game but if he has any issues through the week no risk taken Weiderman - Would like to see him again but he looked tired by qtr time may be worth another run anyway. In: JKH - Play the role they tried to get ANB to play would love to see him coming of the back flank like Kent and Tracc do all the time(may not be match fit if not dont risk) Harmes - HBF again, play Vince's role and show him how its done. Salem - Bugg like role except with skill and class Garlett - Need more forward crumbers and more pressure Kennedy - If Garlett is still injured M Jones - in the mix if the like of JKH and Salem are not up to it Pedo - Only dropped for Weid test run

Idk he took 14 marks and kicked a goal. Would have liked him to be more accurate but he played pretty well yesterday. Do that week in, week out and the accuracy will come.

Does that mean that those who played the worst followed instuctions the best and will get the highest votes for the game? -
Yeah im forgiving of the 50-50s its only the really bad ones I dont like. Since there wasnt many (if any) of them I thought they were good enough. I was just interested by the 2nd lowest total stat. Overall it had little to do with the result.

What??? The AFL and media would much rather us have won yesterday! They love stories, and a late charge forcing North into winning Saturday night is exactly what they would have wanted. They dont want the 8 to be set they want every game to be of interest, the intrest in the Geelong - Melbourne game this week just dropped tenfold with that loss. There is no conspirecy to fix yesterdays result and if there was it would have been in our favor not against it. God I hate when people start to blame a poor performance on the AFL. Both teams played on the same ground in the same conditions and unfortuatly our team was flat, deal with it. -
I dont think they need to be even, however I do not believe it is possible to get through a game and 1 side only give away 5 frees, they are human they make mistakes. Frees arn't always a team being dirty like some people seem to insinuate but they do occur and Carlton were far from perfect yesterday despite what the count suggests.
-
All things considered I dont think the umpires were too bad yesterday. Alot of 50-50 ones went against us but no real howlers. They were far worse in the Hawthorn game. Although interestingly we had the equal second lowest count of all time, only 2 games has a team had less: http://afltables.com/afl/stats/teamshi.html#l12

Yeah I think so, they might like doing it to shake his man so he can run around on his own for a while. He played the exact role I want to see him play for his whole career. He took 14 marks provided an option time and time again and ran his man into the ground, he kicked 1.3, switch that to 2.1 a game and he will be the star we need. Weid is who we want to be kicking bags in his future, Hogan needs to drift forward at times and get a bonus goal or 2 but he isnt going to be a 60 goal forward he is a link up forward.
-
That is the attitude I have, 1 thing this club has done this year is shown that if they ever have a down game they come back the next week and earn back some respect. Win lose or draw next week I expect us to put up a fight. I hope that come 2018 these loses will be gone, but we have at least 1 more year of dealing with this inbetween some big steps forward.

We need to spend some time working on congested scoring. When we play against good teams we do well because we rebound hard and fast from their forwardline and score in space. When we play against a poor team we lock it in and have alot of repeat inside 50s for no score. The classic flood is too effective against us. Too often we get repeat entries for no score then when opposition finally got out they kicked an easy goal in space. -
Should not be Hogan. When that player comes off the back it needs to be a Kent, Hunt or Pettracca, of those not playing Garlett, Harmes, Kennedy, Salem, Kennedy-Harris. But cant be Hogan or Watts what we need is them up forward to make a contest if we win it. A couple of times a game we win it and kick it straight to their loose man. When we structure up well i like the tactic too, its dangerous but it also can break the game open. Adelaide do it better than anyone.
-
An example should be made of him this week. As was with Watts last year. Dropping him for the last game may just be the reminder he and the other senior players need going into pre-season. Right now he is not deserving of a spot over a number of others.
-
High handballing when executed properly is a fantastic game plan and is hard to stop. Overlap and run usually results in scores. Some weeks we execute it well others are.... well... others are like yesterday...

Well over a decade since anyone won 2 in a row down there Bulldogs Rd 9, 2002 and Rd 16, 2003 (the last of a 5 win streak) Earlier in 2003 (Rd 6) Brisbane also won their last of a 5 win streak
