  1. the guys peeing on the donut stand without their pants on after the game was an ultimate 'only collingwood' moment
  2. so true! he'll get his 70 carry over points, 4 weeks for the hit, and 18 for breaking the drug code, naughty boy! grazman that is very true, often you do stupid things in the thick of the moment and i'm 100% sure he's not proud of it. just it horrible to watch when he had so much time to stop and pull out, but chose not to
  3. wow, so you manage to sit next to every melbourne supporter in the ground do you? and you can hear the input? if you were into it you probably wouldn't be able to tell if the rest of the crowd was going nuts, but if you wanna hear some loud stupidity feel free to sit on the right hand side of the players race in the MCC
  4. i meant more around the ground and how long umpires take to call a ball up. though with the ball up in the centre of the ground, perhaps that AFL could order special 20 second ads or something along those lines, so the ball could go up quicker. 1. it is definitely an incredibly frustrating part of the game when opposition drag the ball under another player, and even when your team gets a free kick like this, you aren't happy with it. however usually it is because the umpire is blindsighted, and the only way to stop this would be to add another umpire or empower boundary/goal umpires. the latter of which i think should continue to be trialled in the NAB cup 2. prior opportunity has disappeared this year and is certainly an area of concern, def needs to be addressed. 3. ditto 4. another difficult rule to implement, imagine the furore of this being improperly policed. but certainly for blatant dives i think it should be cracked down on
  5. As far as i can tell there hasn't been a thread on this, but feel free to delete if there has been. The AFL website has released a questionaire giving fans the opportunity to give feedback on the rule changes for this year. http://www.afl.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=2...mp;newsId=48948 i feel the hands in the back rule has significantly affected the marking contest to the detriment, as the increase of comparatively soft free kicks are being given for players not even being impeeded. The direct play on rule from full back has worked well in my opinion. One rule i feel could be tightened slightly is how long umpires wait to ball the ball up. sometimes it is automatic, other times the ball is locked up for some time, risking both injury and boredom. one way or the other i'd like to see the ball up called on a more systematic basis. What do fellow demonlanders feel about this years rule changes, and the rules in general? personally i'd like to see the AFL agree to a type of game the fans want, implement the rules that would see this through, and leave it as it is. soccer is a universally successful game, due in no small part, imo, to the steadiness and continuance of the rules of the game.
  6. barry hall's article had to be one great big typo didn't it? it was shocking
  7. geez am i getting nervous! heart rate is always higher the day of the filth game, but far out, having to wait until night time is killing me! might crack open the first beverage, that always works doesn't it? i feel our list looks better on paper, and if we can start the way we did on QB i think we should be a good thing, but who knows...
  8. i'd say 60-65. 98% filth in the southern
  9. Dunn, Johnson and Bate. (Only reason not bartram is that he is already there, if he can just remain injury free next year)
  10. i got: 1 Geelong 22 19 3 0 2487 1655 76 150.2 4 West Coast 22 15 7 0 2116 1918 60 110.3 6 Sydney 22 14 8 0 2060 1756 56 117.3 2 Hawthorn 22 14 8 0 2098 1857 56 112.9 3 Port Adel 22 13 9 0 2300 2073 52 110.9 5 Kangaroos 22 13 9 0 2071 2011 52 102.9 7 Collingwood 22 12 10 0 2051 2055 48 99.8 9 St Kilda 22 11 10 1 1851 1944 46 95.2 11 Adelaide 22 11 11 0 1897 1801 44 105.3 13 Essendon 22 11 11 0 2153 2332 44 92.3 10 W Bulldogs 22 10 11 1 2175 2357 42 92.2 12 Fremantle 22 10 12 0 2226 2173 40 102.4 8 Bris Lions 22 9 12 1 2051 1900 38 107.9 14 Melbourne 22 6 16 0 1899 2382 24 79.7 15 Carlton 22 4 18 0 2163 2801 16 77.2 that includes adel losing collingwood rd 22 and a bombers upset would get them in this would mean cats v hawks in first round of finals, wow, and another one just for a change, swans v eagles. with also power saints, again, and pies roos, though bottom 4 of the 8 could almost be anything. indeed, many of those games in the run home could result in upsets, these ladders are always silly. not to mention i struggle to pick over 5 a week, let alone 8 for 3 straight weeks!
  11. 9.2 v carlton round 15 2002 9.1 v richmond round 2 2004 8.4 v kangaroos round 20 2006 8.3 v st kilda round 10 2006 8.2 v western bulldogs round 14 1996 8.0 v carlton round 19 1996 and bags of 7 against dogs (3 times), tigers, lions, saints
  12. win win win!! beat blues and pies twice in a season would be almost acceptable for this year. plus the young guys need to know they can win even with so many people out, we need to build the base for a winning culture, and it starts now!
  13. Melbourne FC - Didn't look injured! i don't know what it was, but we seemed to move easier, tackle harder and ran more freely. robbo seemed to move as crisply as ever, davey seemed to have regained toe, pickett showed he still has something to offer. didn't seem like the same melbourne team of the previous 4 weeks
  14. 265 games at an average of 18, mostly useful, disposals, 4 marks a game, 2 tackles, 229 goals. icon of the club through his skill and demeanour. what player with those stats would not be considered a club great?

i agree with you! last week, clearly we went into the last quarter saying 'all we have to do is win this quarter' and we won it by 10 points why don't we just say that before every quarter? simple!
  16. the match preview on mfc has us at $1.27 and dogs at $3.90. th boys at the junction sound confident! yes 21000 dees by 17 jones neitz!

maybe west coast 'leaked' it so they could 'make' akermanis look stupid, and also allow them to put their own 'we say no to drugs' line into action...
  18. melbourne website says 7:15, i'll go with that
  19. sure it isn't 7:15? a lot of saturday night games are 7:15

i know they can, and i do my best. buying all merchandise etc. but isn't the easiest for a uni student saving for an overseas trip on a casual wage, also trying to move out.
  21. all i'll say is that, whilst you mention a number of teams that he didn't win premierships with, he still managed to consistently create a team capable of winning a premiership, how many coaches can claim to have moulded 4 teams into potential contenders? his team went backwards after 93? that was expected, their success was not. he was able to lead an in-experienced team to a premiership and watch as interstate sides won 3 of the next 5 premierships before he managed again to create a contender, 3 brilliant years of football.

yes, i am a full mcc member and pay an extra 70 dollars to be a mfc member, and go to all games. all i'm saying is that it doesn't achieve much to tell people who go to games, to go to games. but i like your spirit, keep it up

not the best place to post it, of course we go. get a job in the media then you can spruik there
  24. Youngsters like dunn, CJ, Garland, Bode, Frawley (among others) are playing in sandy while (OLD players) like Ward, Brown, Holland, a clearly unerprepared neitz, Picket keep playing. put another way, five guys who should be in the team showing their stuff have a total of 48 games experience. the five older guys who shouldn't be in the team in a supposed 'youth policy' program have a total of 961 games experience. i'm sorry, but that is NOT a youth policy, aside from the fact the most of the criticsm around here has focussed on the endeavour more than the skill
  25. absolutely! best post so far. maybe we trade bell, bate, whelan, carroll, rivers, white, neitz, davey, bruce, brown, ward, frawley, warnock,pj,jamar, johnstone, jones, bartram, pickett, petterd, mcdonald, sylvia, robbo, miller for this year's all australian team. you trade to improve your list, i.e. you trade a player that you have an excess of (tall forwards for instance) in exchange for something you are short of (midfielders perhaps), that is when you trade quality players, if you have the younger guys with talent to fill the void. you DO NOT trade the players that your team needs to move forward, fast, skillful players that fit beautifuly into our best team
