  1. i don't see how on paper chelsea are a better team, especially with robben going now. i reckon liverpool will be an interesting team to watch, they don't seem to be getting a lot of recognition, but i reckon they could be right up there
  2. WHAT?!?! two time all australian, coleman medalist, captain of over 150 games, grand final captain, leading goal kicker SEVEN times, twice international rules representative, Stage of Origin, not to mention an amazing role model for the game of AFL
  3. inside word here that danners is coming back, to be assistant, while the coach will be none other than........... Bev o'Connor!!! rock on
  4. in relation to there being no evidence, i was under the impression the runner saw it and told the umpire, and that's why it then went to tribunal. there's greater danger in letting him off for there being no evidence if he has admitted to making contact with him, and has clearly injured the guy.
  5. doesn't sound like you've watched the chelsea matches though, for the large part they've played arrogant rubbish football, and found themselves behind to birmingham and reading, plus a draw with liverpool that even the ref has apologized for. chelsea could very easily have 2 draws and a loss also. if you're saying chelsea are better because of three games, you're head is in the clouds. far out did we need that win before our big test against man u, will be interesting to watch.
  6. with davey's speed, and the fact that he has injured his hamstring before, i think bohdan can get the benefit of the doubt with this one. one black mark in my opinion however is that we are simply not as fit as we should be, or as fit as we were last year. i am yet to see 'gut-busting' running, save for the effort the boys put in when we were undermanned on friday.
  7. some of connoly's are plain silly. one of 5 reasons to get connoly is because he played for us, surely that is not in the list of the top 5 reasons why you'd want a coach. furthermore, he has a sense of humour, well danners had that. the membership numbers are impressive, but two finals campaigns in that period of time, and the numbers continued to rise, surely points to the passionate freo fans above the ability of their coach to win them over.
  8. As long as he doesn't do a darren hayes and get arrested!! storm in a tea cup. if the club thinks it's an issue, and if his teammates think it's an issue, i trust them to be able to deal with it. they'd know him better than we do
  9. why does the thread title say 'has contested and could get 8?' didn't he accept the 6?
  10. winning with ease? is that what you call a dodgy draw? not to mention having to come from behind to have a one goal win against reading and birmingham.

  12. the people giving the bests are probably not the people that do the stats, therefore they are less likely to care about points
  13. played a semi final once, we were 45-0 down 5 minutes into the second quarter when my coach thought they had too many on, called a head count...turned out we had 17 on!! we copped so much abuse from the other team, but then we beat them by 4 goals, and again in the granny
  14. i'd keep a guy like holland for another year based on the way he can play both ends of the ground reasonably effectively, and at times very well. i think he'd also serve as a good mentor and role model to the young players up and coming, to see the results hard work can have. finally, i'd hate to see the same injury end two brother's careers!
  15. 0.40 - 40 0.42 - 42 could be the final score! i reckon if we can somehow handball the ball into a blues player's foot through for a goal, we'll have a massive advantage. seriously though, i could never be happy with a dees win, and i'll be going nuts for the last chance this year
  16. at least buckley admitted johnson deserved a 'fair whack', and given johnson had a prior record i don't exactly know why he's whinging, especially about baker, an incident that he admits to not knowing the facts about. if i was him i'd have full focus on the swans, because their finals campaign is not guaranteed yet. i believe 7 with 5 was a fair result for that hit, the extra game because of his bad record from the previous week! guys must be protected for going after the footy
  17. i can't see how this article highlights why he should be captain. same rubbish, meaningless words he's drivled out in his frenetic media schedule all year. if he plays like he did against the crows this week, that will be a reason, to couple media contribution with killer team play
  18. torres is a nutter, i reckon he'll have a big year for the reds. unless chelsea pull that 'we only win in the last 3 minute' rubbish they did all last year, i can't see them getting close to man u. however i do think teams like arsenal, liverpool and even tottenham, along with possibly man city, coupled with man u's injury woes, it should be a cracker of a season
  19. yeah, the mass cleanout at carlton in (04?) worked really well didn't it........
  20. with a new season just arrived, i don't see why we shouldn't have a thread to talk about the season. funny to see wigan on top! glad my boys finally got off the duck egg last night with a good 4-0 win how do we think the season will roll? can anyone topple man u? ha, apparently man city
  21. that it's round 21 in 4 days? New training facility New coach New draft picks New fitness regime New players blooded Old guys finally booted off the list New VFL record on the cards New leadership group to reflect the direction the club is heading 150th year anniversary Plenty to be excited about!
  22. definitely. i think it's the only reason people aren't asking for our second coach of the season to be sacked, because of the way we faught the match out. a new coach can hopefully get that attitude right because a top team does not give teams 41 point head starts, especially when we're clearly good enough to be ahead.
  23. whilst i understand your logic CB, and agree with the generality, i'd have to say if one of robbo's, neita's, or TJ's shots had have gone through at the end we probably would've won, not to mention if bode's travelled a bit farther we'd have still been a shot. meaning that fresh legs would have at least given us a slightly better chance.
