  1. It simply must be for upmarket. We as a club struggle to get people to pay 100 bucks for a MEMBERSHIP. Hell, cut that, 40 bucks for MFC/MCC! How in god's name are we expected to get a table of TEN?? And why no discount for ten? Another thing crossing my mind is that there will be 190(?) legends/players in attendance. Are they expecting at least 190 tables of ten paying $5000? If it does fill out, i hope it shows on our profit margin!
  2. Queen, i think the problem is not with our midfield drive, it's that whenever they get the ball and look up there is seldom anyone to kick to. I haven't been able to watch a replay all season unfortunately, but not i have a vcr woohoo!, so i'm not sure how well it comes up on tv. But certainly i think the problem is in the forwardline not presenting/existing. Love seeing Sylvia and Green there, along with davey and aussie, and wouldn't mind maric coming in. What's put our defence under pressure all season is the lightning speed at which the ball bounces off our forwardline and is waltzed into the backline, not helped because no one likes to man up
  3. Perhaps many of McNamee's 'upmarket' melbourne supporters will be going. Devastated i can't go. One of those, if it was 400.... maybe not.
  4. mate, you really could've put a warning on that video! thought it was going to be good.
  5. Bailey mentioned valenti, maybe it was CC but pretty sure bailey, at the function post match saying he would promote him when he felt he was ready to play AFL. Valenti is in his plans to come in at some stage don't worry
  6. I don't think giving youngsters the opportunity to play is tantamount to throwing a game at all. Look at Collingwood, they play youngsters and instil in them a confidence to play well. Equivocating playing our youngsters with throwing a match goes along way to describing how melbourne players don't become superstars, as they are not given the confidence/arrogance to do so from a young age. The point is, playing youngsters in the right mindset only serves to help our club in the future. Playing older guys who will not be there next year does not. Furthermore, if the old guys who won't be there serve to hurt our chances of an extra draft pick, two if we have a bad year next year, then of course it will be a ludicrous situation. Play the youngsters and any members of the older generation who will bring helpful experience and a positive vibe to the field. I don't think yze and holland bring that, as good as yze has been for the club and as much as holland tries
  7. If it was 4.5, melbourne and carlton would've just played a draw and enjoyed the spoils. Definitiely 4 or less two years in a row
  8. Dalrot, i agree with you, however i think it's all about marketing. Such a basic event can be seen to be a quasi-'Once in a lifetime event' if the club pushes it hard, and may get people to think it's a bigger opportunity than it is. As Pantaloons said, if it only makes a few extra go, all the better
  9. I'm certainly not going to the game to see a win, a win would be a bonus, but it's not why i'm going. It's really not why anyone goes, otherwise why would you go when your team is the underdog? We go so we can see how the team will develop, i'd have no issue with a few more guys with experience being included IF they had something to offer. Hence Whelan's inclusion, however guys like Holland and Yze are not the types to change a match they once were. Indeed, Holland needed to have a ripper to gain any influence. A re-building team doesn't need to be entirely based on youth, but if there isn't quality experience to bring in, a team shouldn't do it
  10. i've signed up and it's mad, people keep nicking my paper though! easily worth it
  11. Absolutely! And i'll be buggered if i'll have my membership paying for the shortfall of a melbourne attendance, carn the dees!
  12. Love the enthusiasm, but 8 of that team have never played an AFL match, fair bow to claim they'll all be stars, let alone the ones we have seen.
  13. I thought 6 - Jones 5 - Rivers 4 - Moloney 3 - Bruce 2 - Frawley 1 - Aussie Justifications in the votes thread. Apologies to the dees fans that went along, i thought we deserved a vote!
  14. we'll spank the shockers and be out of the limelight for...6 hours. Having him on the show would mean they might have to deal with an argument against their continual bagging of the dees, so they'll probably try and delay it until he seems demoralized
  15. Not a bad idea, certainly being made something more than it is - people being allowed on the ground should be the norm, but still it's good thinking. Hope they go overboard with it, lots of face painting stalls, jumping castles (in red and blue of course), maybe a little footy clinic with players not playing outside the ground, handballing comps for showbags. Why not hey? None of it is too difficult to arrange, and may entice a few more kids to come along and enjoy their day at the footy regardless
  16. While shocked by Matthews' comments, Johnstone said he had faced much tougher analysis from Lions teammates every week. "The leadership group is strong and demands a lot from each player," he said. "Everyone has a role and if you are not pulling your weight … the leadership group pulls guys aside. "I think that is really important … to make the team develop. They don't just sweep it under the carpet and let it go. "It's very confronting here. You can't get away with anything. But that's good; they are always teaching you new things." Sorry to post this section, but it's just blown me away the level of professionalism illustrated by some teams, i just don't think we would see this from Melbourne
  17. i think morton looks a bit tired, and i don't think it would hurt him to have a week off. Would love to see Valenti come into the team, with his attitude and heart. Bate i think must come into the team as well, probably at the expense of Warnock. Wheels to come back in for barts IN: Valenti, Bate and Whelan OUT: Morton, Warnock and Bartram
  18. I'll be there, carn the dees!! I feel a win coming on, all will come together for one week only, kicks will hit targets and confidence will lift, for no reason, against those little %$%^ GO THE DEES

6 - Jones - By a mile 5 - Rivers 4 - Moloney, Still think he has to fix his kicking, or at least the thinking behind it, but at least he kept trying 3 - Bruce 2 -Frawley, battled away on a much more seasoned opponent, was probably beaten but i felt when he made a mistake, he fixed it at the next contest 1 - Aussie, presented well, kicked sick goal right in front of me
  20. What makes this poll hard to answer is that it's 'know for a fact.' The fact you havent seen one in 31 years becomes largely irrelevant because there was still a chance. I'd stay a supporter because i don't follow us to see us win. I don't go to the footy to see us win, i go to see the MFC. Why else would i go when we're 0-9 playing a superior team? or fly to brisbane when we're 0-5. It is not about winning, it's about following your team, winning just makes it easier.
  21. i've seen a lot of shocking movies make millions, indeed they're the ones you probably hear the most about
  22. ill be in a 150 jumper with 45 on the back, or clash jumper with 21, sexy!
