He Has gone under the radar but was i was really disappointed in him saturday night. Avoided the contest constantly and just seemed to have no idea how to defend. We desperately need pace, but cannot seem to develop our few fast runners into footballers. He looks over his injury problems but it's frustrating when again we drop a high draft pick as he cannot get the pill. The bloke has the attributes of a young akermanis yet we can't develop basic football skills into these blokes. Very frustrating as he would thrive with good development i feel. Thoughts?

Yes Sheedy was almost sacked late 90s because he was 'not up to it' and won the premiership in 2000. Go back further to 1992 they got beaten by 160 points and people thought well that enough, and won the premiership a year later. Chance to get him first time fell in our lap and we missed it. now we get another chance. don't stuff it up. We need re-badging, we need an experienced successful coach. To those who dismiss it because of his nutty comments, tell me how well have we done getting unkown assistants to a club lacking in leadership ?

Watts sues Dunn ? I didn't see that coming.

I wanted sheedy when we interviewed for a new coach. Too old my foot. He took over the international rules side after and transformed the team to pure pace and blitzed Ireland just after finishing coaching at essendon. When we played gws they beat us early until fitness took over for us against 18 year olds. Even at the end with essendon they were hardly wooden spooners, but still winning games of footy. He can coach. He like Matthews questioned watts over natanui and we bitched about it, but he knows his footy. Getting untried assistants seems highly risky to me.

Still not a good sign if Taggert who we picked in the 30s in the draft after a full pre-season is playing Casey seconds. I would hope he would be aiming to start running out 25 plus possesion games for casey. as stated above, Melbourne development indeed.

The next month is as important as any in our history. If we continue on the same path, we will be in dire straights as crowds will drop dramatically. Neeld and his players have t ofind something. Show some real spirit and the supporters will keep supporting.

Magner has more inside ability than a lot of midfielders. maybe not as athletic as a lot of AFL OK midifelders but he has ability no doubt. Givem me a magner with fire in his guts over the politically correct Jack Watts who's response to another smashing is 'what just happened?'. At least Magner has some balls and should definitely be in our side.

Stellar reflected perfectly what's wrong with us at the moment. We had created mid matches forward and he out bodied his opponent in the goal square and dropped the mark then later on the lead 40 metres out drops a bloody chest mark. How does a bloke high on preseason confidence make such basic errors?? Our team has a disease, just a losers disease. No body had the attitude either of you know what [censored] it, let's charge through and DO something, split a pack, hit some bodies. Just nothing. Never thought I would say it but I want Joel McDonald in. At least he does that.

Where is our next ruckman going to come from?
Bay Riffin replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gawn is the most talented and has something about him i reckon, some confidence and competitiveness and a really good size. - a good chance to make it if he can get over his knee injuries and get some continuity. Spencer has size and athletic ability with not a lot of football ability - a slight chance to make it. Fitzpatrick will be thrown on the Pendergrast long list of terrible drafting decisions by this club. delisted end of year and yes will play some good games at Casey. it won't save him. -
I heard on one of the footy shows no club has ever won with more than 4 changes. We will have at least 8. That seems game over to me. I am bracing myself.

Sorry guys this is just sad news to me. Playing two games up there knowing how debilitating it is on the players shows how hard it is for us and how desperate we are. Our financial plight directly impacts our football department in a massive way. I keep putting money into this club but have to watch us do this ? And comparing this to hawthorn is not a reality. There isn't the time spent traveling and sapping heat in tassie. No footy side would ever want to do this unless it was the last straw. Good for us ? You are dreaming.
-
I thought he said he was ready to play for the vfl in 10 days or so. If so it will be a case of him getting continuity in his game, then hopefully press for senior selection. If we can get a full year out of gawn it will be a huge bonus. Don't forget grimes and garland were down for a year with serious foot injuries but eventually got back to afl standard.

PRACTICE MATCH: CASEY SCORPIONS v FRANKSTON
Bay Riffin replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Whilst alf Stewart may be going a bit hard on a guy who started getting in the best for Casey quite a few times last year, I do tend to agree. His highlights package had zero highlights when recruited, and let's not forget we didn't rookie this bloke either, but got him with the next pick after gawn. Watched him in the first praccy match at Casey and thought deary me. He looked terrible. But hey he was tall so give him a few years. But now a few years later I still can't see what prendergast was thinking. He has done nothing in the pre season games as well. I tend to agree. He was a liability in his two games for Melbourne as well. It will be a miracle if he survives the cut end of year. -
I will vomit if they go to the g then we have to shift say games against interstate sides to etihad. Mcc should not allow it, if we are truelly together now.

Lloyd loves to bag Melbourne and their recruiting, but talks up essendons recruiting like they are a top 4 side.

Level headed, although his last comment on the hawks was aspirational. The hawks are the best example of a team who not only beat us but humiliate us in the process, especially under bailey where the game plan fell apart. Let's see if we can compete with them as he eludes to. That's one game I will in particular look at when assessing neeld.
-
Gotta say it's one of my bugbears with this team. Our back line often go sideways to a safe option, and usually do it nice and slowly. When those options dry up against the top sides, we have a melt down and kick it down the line to a 1 against 3 or 4. That and out pissweak tackling technique for the last few years.
-
Well said. He is like Robbo with the defensive efforts. Has been very good in a team that is poor. Sylvia would no doubt thrive in a good team. We are just not there right now. He is also been one dimensional. Always thought he had a weak left foot and played a bit too outside when we werent getting the pill. Same as tapscott and blease, who don't get it a lot.but could see them improve if the team gets truelly competitive and they can just play their role, and not the role of save the sinking ship.
-
Yep he's never missed a snap till then. Well from what I've seen.
-
I heard it was to take his mums surname.
-
Blease averaged 12 posessions last year. Whereabouts would you put somone who often has little impact on a game ?

Was hoping taggers was higher in the pecking order by now after a full pre season
