  1. Garlett has the forward craft and the crumbing patterns down pat, and i think he's doing all of the team things in hitting up the 10-20m range with a short pass instead of a snap from the boundary and applying pressure on the rebound. While that's fine, he does look as though he has had all the joy and naturalness of his game sapped out of him at the same time and is a little restrained or tentative probably because he doesn't want to get a baking or be dropped. I also noticed him running to the pack of celebrating players with the faintest of smiles last night, so he perhaps is a little on the outer. One can only speculate though, i'm sure by doing this, a particular poster will chime in and tell me it's all nonsense. I wish the coaches would give him a little license to play a bit more selfishly in terms of having a few shots, because I think he's a few goals away from re-capturing some joyful footy and making the forward 50 his hunting ground, failure to give that license and balance to his game may just result in a couple of bad games that result in him losing his career at the Dees. Which would be a massive mistake.
  2. I recall the thinking outside the square that came from Port when they beat em, was the "dirty ball" into the forward line, low balls to eliminate McGoverns influence. I wonder if we can emulate this?
  3. I got this impression when we named Viney. No resting anyone. Need this win and need to get some momentum going for the month ahead.
  4. Bloody nice gesture of Gawny & Goody to invite our injured skipper onto the dais to lift the cup. Shades of Bob
  5. GCS are no easy beats. Have people watched their games? We need our best team in there right now. The season is on the line this week, not the week after. We haven't earnt any confidence to assume this is a win and Viney can return v wce.
  6. But if we're being realistic, Viney is a burst player and he wants to be in there now when the season is on the line and contribute to a resurgence. No point trying to get him 100% if the season is done. I'd take a 90-95% Viney playing through soreness over ANB
  7. I suspect he's setting himself up for a big run now when we need him firing to hit the 2nd half running (r8-12) - if we lose these games then get him in for surgery and cherry ripe for 2020. If our season is alive then he'll set himself up for another late run rounds 18-23 after probably being injured r13-17 tbh. Hoping after the bye we can knock down some wins and then make a play for the 8 with him in there... then he rests in bye round.
  8. They only use Witts don't they? So Gawn and him can go toe to toe. Probably can bring Preuss back in for Hickey & Vardy over in Perth, he'll be cherry ripe.
  9. The Warriors vs Rockets series has been incredible so far. 2-2! Every play and every shot has been significant. It's like a chess battle, very strategic matches. I'm riding every shot that the Rockets sink as I really want to see KD and the Warriors lose. I only pay attention at the tail end of the playoffs each year, but this one series has felt notably epic, maybe because the footy has been pretty miserable this year and these bball matches have been far more entertaining than any non-demon games.
  10. Yeah, he hasn't lost his pace. I can still see a few demonlanders chiming in soon about being a retirement home. I do think we still need an injection of experience AND skill into the team, ideally you'd get a 25-26 year old wingman in the peak of their careers, but Isaac Smith is a rare quality who may have 3+ years to give a team like us that needs a few more personnel to bump us back up the ladder. I don't subscribe to us being a bottom side again, a few more tweaks and players to come in and i think we're back to being in the 5-8 range with a few more recruitment needs towards us being a contender.
  11. Interesting thread to revive. You have to wonder about Isaac Smith's value right now to a club like us in need of outside spread. He's signed until the end of 2020. However given Clarko's recent admonishment to his 'middle of the road' list, If I was in his shoes and i'd been looked over for the captaincy (sound familiar?), I'd be concerned about extending my contract or getting out of there to a club prepared to give me 3 years. I wonder if we could prize him away from the Hawks by taking him off their books and giving them our 3rd or 4th round pick, which as it stands, is probably not going to do that much for us.
  12. I recall these points being made about Liam Ryan though, and he instantly slotted into the West Coast team and adapted to their defensive requirements.
  13. I've edited it for ya instead mate.
  14. Well we did want the club to recruit a gorilla...
  15. He has a few pints, ok. But how many hot dogs?
  16. I think he's going through an issue that many good kickers go through in their careers, when they lean back too much when kicking and try and lazily finesse a pass, but end up looping it up a bit. Should be easily fixed.
  17. Maybe we can book Tracc a session with Shane Woewodins hairdresser. His tips can turn a player into a Brownlow Medalist overnight.
  18. 2 goals to Baker eh? How did he play overall?
  19. I'd prefer Wagner piggybacking Lewis. Then we've got young legs mixed with seasoned football iq
  20. If we're focusing on individual moments, how about getting the free kick marking infringement in front of Roughead with 6mins to go, or his diving mark from the Jaeger inside 50 entry after the Bruess goal with 5 mins to go? That's two inside 50's repelled. And both of his free kicks found targets in Gawn & Hibberd.
  21. You gave me nothing. Do you think we should pursue Ed Langdon? If so, what would you trade for him? If not, then yes, moving on.
  22. Harmes absolutely would be traded if the price was right, i think you're incorrect. The question i'm answering is Langdon vs Harmes. I'd take Langdon and that's the trade it would take to get him right now. They wouldnt take our 2nd round pick imo. And I wouldn't trade Salem for Langdon. We have too many similar mids, hence the need to 'diversify'
  23. This is what the Adelaide power stance was missing ?
