  1. I think the idea of Vanders is better than the reality unfortunately, I know it was his first senior game in 2 years, but he got turned inside out a number of times against an ordinary gc side allowing the ball to come out of the 50 much to easily. It also doesn’t appear his kicking on the run has improved in his time out either, this is the same reason people get frustrated with Bugg, ANB and Kent. He also got caught out a a few times with the ball but I think that will improve as he gets used to the pace. On a positive note I do like his size around the contest particularly running though packs and creating a bit of chaos
  2. Out side of the ruck anyone one not in the 22 is probably 4th or lower in there respective positions, a number of those are over 25, 25 isn't what it used to be just look at Pedersen for example, he was 26 when we picked him up and has managed to play an important role when needed over the years. Tim Smith is in a similar boat. The days of turning over our list at a high rate are over and our picks due to trades and higher finishes will be getting later in the draft. Despite his flaws as a player I would rather have Bugg in a pinch than some 1st year kid we just drafted if injury or form means he finds himself up for selection, we have been extremely lucky with players like Spargo and Fritsch this year it wont always be like that
  3. I don't understand the negativity towards Bugg and why people want to write him off, not everyone will be a star but he can play a role just like JKH the last few weeks. He's not in our best 22 on pure talent but each list can have up to 47 players with 38 being on the primary list which means over half the team isn't in the 22 at any one time. Given injuries and retirements even at his current skill level I think he will still continue to get some games in the senior team. There are plenty of others on our list who can't even do that.
  4. Id say our ins are more significant, the only one for them of note is Danger which is a big in the rest are all a wash, but our ins of Mcdonald, Brayshaw (on current form) more than out weigh our bigger outs of Hibberd and Lever (especially considering his form at the time). Even the lesser ins of Tyson and Spargo are an upgrade on the other outs, Hunt is debatable but also wasn't playing well at the time either.
  5. Looking forward to seeing what Tyson will bring now that he should be given major minutes in the middle, can he be the player that we all hoped only a few years back, as he has the next 4 weeks to prove it, at only 25 he should still have more upside in him I hope. Why is it that Cats more than any other team put the fear of god in me. On form they are as gettable as they have been since we last beat them down there a few year back, we should have no fear but I can’t shake the feeling that something bad will happen
  6. We are so far off that been a consideration it’s not funny, it’s 50-50 if we even play finals this year. ANB is 22 and not even 50 game into his career for a player of his age and experience he is well ahead of the curve so far as development goes, Jones was also a horrible user of the ball ealier in his career and while it never became elite it got to the point of been passable.
  7. People have been asking for more speed and now we have it but I wanted to talk about J Smith. He came in following Levers injury, we then looked too short against pies and port so Petty was bought in but Smith some how survived and got to then play as a mid size or rebounding defender role taking over from Vince. He the has a terrible game against the saints, meanwhile Vince shows he wares in the 2s and we commit to Wagner for another year so we must see something in him. Question is how does Smith hold his spot? You could maybe even try Hannan down back in that role rather than dropping him, hes certainly a better play atm and couldn’t be worse than smith in that role
  8. That had to be the most frustrating game to watch this year, we completely dominated them for the first half for almost no reward, you have to commend port on defending so well while under siege, I now have a new respect for them after that game. I suspect they and other teams have been doing home work on our game plan and it will only get harder from here, if we don’t have some other tricks up our sleeve and adjust it will continue to be frustrating for us to watch.
  9. So I guess by that logic we wouldn’t have wanted buddy or danger either, even the best players have bad games. We should be so lucky as to get Gaff
  10. Definitely should be attempting to get him, hopeful we are at the point where someone like him will come for success rather than money. Much like danger to Geelong
  11. Sure we could get De Goey, just don’t cry that we have to give up Petracca and Brayshaw to do it
  12. We looked one dimensional because we panicked and all crowed round the ball yesterday rather than just a few going in, once the ball came out into space the pies inevitably had an out number making us look slow as a result. The players need to realise that everyone going in isnt the best option. Buggered if I’m going to watch a replay but I would suspect Viney, Oliver and Jones were the culprits and need to work together better
  13. Badly exposed for height in the backline yesterday especially once Oscar went off, so Frost probably comes in for Smith Given out mid has been beaten the last 2 weeks VFL form should dictate Tyson and Stretch both come in, first out on form is probably Harmes, and given Spargo gets up the ground I don’t see why Stretch can’t play his role. Another option is Garlett however I haven’t seen anything from the vfl reports to indicate he has bashing the door down, I’d be bring in Bugg before him if you absolutely wanted another fwd Perderon also doesn’t look up to it and makes our fwd line to top heavy, thought Tim Smith was stiff to be dropped so I’d bring him back for the fwd/ relief ruck role he also gives more when the ball goes to ground than either Pedo or Weid
  14. Maybe to soon but time for Tyson, Stretch and Tim smith to come back, Frost to unfortunately we are just to small and once Oscar went down we had no chance. Pedo is done in my books, did some ok things but the game has gone past him, think him playing fwd is part of the reason hogan had a stinker. Spargo back to the 2s good first year but time to stop mucking round and get ready for finals. Harmes has had a good run but he’s keeping Tyson out who I think deserves another go Joel Smith good efforts just to small to play on the 2nd fwd or 1st when Oscar is off
  15. Most disappointing thing was today felt like déjà vu of round 23 last year, it’s like we learnt nothing since then. We had no answer to there run and spread last time or this time. You don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water as we are probably better than 12 other teams but their is some questions that need answering if this year is to be anymore the a foray into the 8
  16. All these people calling for Vince and Lewis to be dropped where have you been the last 6 weeks, silly to judge a player off 1 game
  17. Pedo and stretch for mine, think hibberd will play levers role and a runner will come in to play the role hibberd was playing
  18. Other than Franklin due to the number of games missed, and Martin who is just in on rep you could make an argument for all those named, at least he didn’t stack it full of midfielders. Melksham wouldn’t be far off getting in that team in place of Dusty and this coming game will decide the Gawn v Grundy debate, Jetta also would be close
  19. So with Wines and Gaff the team would look something like this, just take out Vince and Lewis B: Michael Hibberd, Oscar McDonald, Neville Jetta HB: Angus Brayshaw, Jake Lever, Christian Salem C : Ollie Wines , Jack Viney, Andrew Gaff HF: James Harmes, Jesse Hogan, Jake Melksham F: Tim Smith, Tom McDonald, Christian Petracca Foll: Max Gawn, Nathan Jones, Clayton Oliver I/C: Bayley Fritsch, Mitch Hannan, Alex Neal-Bullen, Charlie Spargo Emg: Jeff Garlett, Tom Bugg, Dom Tyson, Billy Stretch Maybe we can go the 4 peat
  20. Rance is an out and out gun who dives and plays dirty, I hate him just like I hated Carey. Would have loved either if they played for dees though.
  21. I agree you wouldn’t get that from Garlett but you would from Bugg, 2 weeks back he kicked 5 and had 20 odd disposals. He’s been playing very well since going back to the vfl Keilty is in line to replace Lever, was named in the best last week playing back so it’s his to lose tomorrow. Pedo for Tim Smith if he’s injured, loved his game the first 2 weeks, hopefully today he was just down due to soreness.
  22. I had forgotten how much of a natural talent he had, as good as we are now we don’t have anyone who can do what he did, could have been on the same level as Eddie Betts if he had just applied him self and had been in right environment.
  23. Was at the game sitting in the wing, I was specifically referring to his tendency to go down the middle from the back 50, 1 today resulted in a direct goal, did the same thing against blues 2 weeks earlier. That wasn’t the only thing just the one that stood out most
  24. Question now is does frost come in for Lever or could they go with Pedo, Tyson could come in for Vince maybe, struggled today and made his usual silly turnovers
