  1. Shame about Kennedy, still thought he had something to offer and had improvement left in him, in his senior games last year I thought he held his own and found it odd they didn’t give him a look in this year despite his form in the vfl.
  2. If they refuse the picks they risk getting nothing, I’m sure dees could get him through to pick 10
  3. People said the same thing when we traded Sylvia out, this will be no different. If he ends up at port I’d say there is a fair chance he ends up playing some portion of next year in the reserves. He will be a fringe player for them at best.
  4. Its always speculation as this isn't public but i recall in the player payment lists that get published from time to time had watts as our top earner in the 2011-2013 contract period
  5. Watts has been one of our highest paid players over his journey and for what he has delivered we owe him no loyalty, his papers were stamped the moment he turned up to training this year underdone, just like Stinger at dogs it sets a bad example to young players and splits the playing group when someone isn't 100% committed.
  6. He could be used as part of a trade to get Lever, if you really wanted another like Jack then pick up Menzel as a FA, they are both dead eye kicks at goal who don't tackle, he's a better contested mark than Jack but wouldn't be able to go up the ground as much.
  7. According to some quotes from Brian Waldron below, Watts and Salem are up as trade bate to secure Lever. For mine Watts has had his chance but Salem still has so much upside and we need more like him https://www.sen.com.au/news/2017/09/15/plough-shocked-young-dee-is-up-for-trade/
  8. I don't know who your source is but I have a family member who works as an assistant at port and that could not be further from the truth. Believe me I ask every time we catch up as I would love nothing more than for this to be the case.
  9. Assuming we do end up getting Lever and he is on 700-800k. Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Hibberd and others if they perform will all be within there rights to ask for more than that and more and if they don't get it to walk. We could be setting a bad precedent which will cost us players in the future. As you can only pay a hand full of players at that rate and I would assume Gawn, Hogan and Jones would already be on that we might end up losing a few if they put the foot down.
  10. Except by the time that happens Pedersen and Lewis will be retired or on last legs, with Jones and Garlett not far behind. And we would have traded out any sort of depth. Having said that it would all be worth it for a flag. I like to think (foolishly) we already have all the right players and we just need more time.
  11. My bad thought we were bottom 6 last year, must have been thinking of 2015. Still it does get exponentially harder to win more games since those wins need to come against better sides. I hope Goodwin has a plan B up his sleeve next year as our style of play got found out more and more as the year went on. Most of our wins in the 2nd half of the year were due to talent and not tactics. A reason why Brad Scott beats us time and time again, he's a better coach than his brother.
  12. What midfielder do you think we could get for a mid 2nd round pick who has at least 4-5 year left and who would exceed Tyson. I would argue that if you could get such a midfielder then we're better of using our own 2nd round pick and getting them and keeping Tyson, bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
  13. A tank generally comes with age (no surprise Lewis, Jones and Vince are are the top 3 mids for TOG), for his age he is no worse than other mids. His ability to hit targets by foot is a concern but this was also the case with Jones back in the day (and still is to an extent) but it hasn't stopped him been one of our best players of resent years. At the end of the day he has minimal trade value (mid 2nd round pick) and what do you get in return an 18yo who will take time and in the mean while a lesser player needs to fill in for him. Are we starting the rebuild again?
  14. Already said earlier but why anyone would want to trade a player who is 24 and solidly in out best 22 is beyond me, not every player can be a star some are just a work horse. What do people think our midfield looks like once Jones, Vince and Lewis retire in the next year or two. Do you really want to add Tyson to that list. Imagine having to play JKH, Maynard, Stretch and Bugg in the team every week. We would be begging to have Tyson at that point.
  15. Anyone expecting 16 wins next year will be in for a very disappointing year. I think getting 13-14 will be more than hard enough with the tougher draw we will get, everyone saw what happened to saints this year, don't be surprised is we take a step back in wins.
  16. Howe only wanted to stay on his terms, we needed him to play back he wanted to play fwd that is why he left. Also at the time he left for all the good things he did he was also to unaccountable as a defender and would go missing for large parts of games (not that our current backs outside of Jetta are any better in that area), from what I have seen of him this year he has improved in those respects somewhat.
  17. Do the pundits think he will be there round pick 30 (our 2nd pick), last I heard he was a late 1st round prospect
  18. Vince will definitely get another contract, I will just be livid if he plays like he has for large parts of this year and doesn't get dropped, more than happy to have him as a backup/ depth player
  19. Stretch was an inside mid as under 18 the only reason he has been playing outside when he gets in the team is due to his lack of size and the fact we currently have better options for that role. With another preseason he will make major gains next year expect him to be most improved
  20. Can't say that after that performance, best side on paper excluding Viney maybe but just like paper they folded. I would rather jkh and his 19 tackles from last weeks vfl game than half the team today
  21. For me it's not whether they deserve it or not but if they would have any impact, before today I would have said they might, now if they make it I just prey they don't embarrass them self
  22. I think you would find neither the lions or blues would give up pick 1 for Lever if they were in a position to get him. Martin yes, Lever no. Lever at this point is still a largely unproven kid who plays loose on the 3rd tall and takes a good intercept mark. I'm fairly sure he will turn into a fine player but it's hardly a given that he will be A grade let alone the next big thing. Look at Scully for an example he left us on big money was meant to be a marquee player for gws, there was no reason not to expect big things from him, and while he has been solid I would hardly call him a star, what makes Lever such a sure thing in comparison that anyone would give up so much.
  23. Hypothetical question. Pedo has had his 2 best games in the last 2 weeks if bringing Watts back means Pedos game of the last 2 gets sacrificed as Watts will compete for the same ball does Watts stay in assuming Pedo is ahead of him atm Guess what I'm asking is could Watts be kept out for balance and not form
  24. Least we don't have Razor Ray again, that guy just hates us.
  25. That and none of them are a gorilla to make up for it, unless we are just conceding the opps FF will kick his 4-5 every time.
