  1. I don’t think he was going anywhere but dees this year, next year is debatable but unless he wants to come to dees for something other than a pay day he will still be there next year for us.
  2. At a huge cost, if we don’t win we have basically thrown away a pick 6 or whatever we could have got next year to get May 1 year sooner
  3. Neale wanted to go to lions and was a free agent next year and yet they got a better deal than us, dees caved, we could have got at least he same deal next year. Plus picked up May as a free agent. Maybe then we would have had ammo to target Kelly. We sold the farm to get May 1 year early. Unless we win the flag next year this was a nonsensical trade
  4. Not the worst trade but surely we could have done something more creative and got pick 11 will a swap of later picks, would have been nice to see some high end talent come in from this draft
  5. The way I look at it is if Hogan is going to be getting a million a year a freo then they can cough up 2 first round picks
  6. Mahoney is on record just before the trade period started saying the plan was always to get May as a free agent next year, doing a trade for him this year was never the plan. If the deal can’t be done this year then the most likely scenario is we get him next year as a fa. The benefit of that is maybe we keep Hogan long term or if we do trade him then those picks can be used to fill another need.
  7. Playing hogan in defence would make no sense, before the injury this year he was out number 1 fwd. It also ignores the fact the Tmac would go back if anyone was going to, he would obviously be the superior choice given he has played most of career down there. Whoever is report on this in media needs to check there sources and there common sense as someone is having them on. Also ignores the fact I think dees will find a way to get May regardless.
  8. The issue is you need to give something to get something and we need a key back more than a 2nd string mid
  9. Maybe the dees need to trade out a hunt, stretch or anb along with next years first to get the deal done
  10. This makes no sense, why are we potentially risking a flag on this, we give up a proper home game in both cases as we always play interstate sides up there and that isn’t even taking into account how we perform the week after both games. This will cost us a top 4 or top 2 one of these years
  11. Not sure why Frost is in so many of these teams, the guy is a dead set liability, once Lever is back frost is out. And on playing all 3 what teams have 3 talls which would require all 3.
  12. Is there more to this, plays 63 games in 4 years after been drafted by hawks, including 18 from 22 in his last year and not offered a new contract. So clearly in there best 22. Then plays the first 13 games for North this year then gets injured and is out of the rest of the year and delisted, again seems he was in there best 22 when fit. Something doesn’t add up
  13. We look so slow once the ball is on the outside, the number of times swans last week and eagles this week just ran it up the wing with out us getting a hand on it is infuriating. Don’t know who we have to fit that bill but we need pace in the middle badly
  14. I’d like to Kent and Hunt come in for smith and Vince, swans aren’t a quick team and I think we could stretch them with some pace of our own. No need to bring in another tall for Smith as he isn’t a genuine tall always and Swans only have 1 tall worth worrying about in Buddy.
  15. I think the idea of Vanders is better than the reality unfortunately, I know it was his first senior game in 2 years, but he got turned inside out a number of times against an ordinary gc side allowing the ball to come out of the 50 much to easily. It also doesn’t appear his kicking on the run has improved in his time out either, this is the same reason people get frustrated with Bugg, ANB and Kent. He also got caught out a a few times with the ball but I think that will improve as he gets used to the pace. On a positive note I do like his size around the contest particularly running though packs and creating a bit of chaos
  16. Out side of the ruck anyone one not in the 22 is probably 4th or lower in there respective positions, a number of those are over 25, 25 isn't what it used to be just look at Pedersen for example, he was 26 when we picked him up and has managed to play an important role when needed over the years. Tim Smith is in a similar boat. The days of turning over our list at a high rate are over and our picks due to trades and higher finishes will be getting later in the draft. Despite his flaws as a player I would rather have Bugg in a pinch than some 1st year kid we just drafted if injury or form means he finds himself up for selection, we have been extremely lucky with players like Spargo and Fritsch this year it wont always be like that
  17. I don't understand the negativity towards Bugg and why people want to write him off, not everyone will be a star but he can play a role just like JKH the last few weeks. He's not in our best 22 on pure talent but each list can have up to 47 players with 38 being on the primary list which means over half the team isn't in the 22 at any one time. Given injuries and retirements even at his current skill level I think he will still continue to get some games in the senior team. There are plenty of others on our list who can't even do that.
  18. Id say our ins are more significant, the only one for them of note is Danger which is a big in the rest are all a wash, but our ins of Mcdonald, Brayshaw (on current form) more than out weigh our bigger outs of Hibberd and Lever (especially considering his form at the time). Even the lesser ins of Tyson and Spargo are an upgrade on the other outs, Hunt is debatable but also wasn't playing well at the time either.
  19. Looking forward to seeing what Tyson will bring now that he should be given major minutes in the middle, can he be the player that we all hoped only a few years back, as he has the next 4 weeks to prove it, at only 25 he should still have more upside in him I hope. Why is it that Cats more than any other team put the fear of god in me. On form they are as gettable as they have been since we last beat them down there a few year back, we should have no fear but I can’t shake the feeling that something bad will happen
  20. We are so far off that been a consideration it’s not funny, it’s 50-50 if we even play finals this year. ANB is 22 and not even 50 game into his career for a player of his age and experience he is well ahead of the curve so far as development goes, Jones was also a horrible user of the ball ealier in his career and while it never became elite it got to the point of been passable.
  21. People have been asking for more speed and now we have it but I wanted to talk about J Smith. He came in following Levers injury, we then looked too short against pies and port so Petty was bought in but Smith some how survived and got to then play as a mid size or rebounding defender role taking over from Vince. He the has a terrible game against the saints, meanwhile Vince shows he wares in the 2s and we commit to Wagner for another year so we must see something in him. Question is how does Smith hold his spot? You could maybe even try Hannan down back in that role rather than dropping him, hes certainly a better play atm and couldn’t be worse than smith in that role
  22. That had to be the most frustrating game to watch this year, we completely dominated them for the first half for almost no reward, you have to commend port on defending so well while under siege, I now have a new respect for them after that game. I suspect they and other teams have been doing home work on our game plan and it will only get harder from here, if we don’t have some other tricks up our sleeve and adjust it will continue to be frustrating for us to watch.
  23. So I guess by that logic we wouldn’t have wanted buddy or danger either, even the best players have bad games. We should be so lucky as to get Gaff
  24. Definitely should be attempting to get him, hopeful we are at the point where someone like him will come for success rather than money. Much like danger to Geelong
  25. Sure we could get De Goey, just don’t cry that we have to give up Petracca and Brayshaw to do it
