  1. Even the best players only have the ball in there possession for a few minutes each game, so what you do when you don’t have the ball is arguably more important. It’s a waste to have a player doing nothing for 99% of the game if they could be helping out defensively
  2. So Wagner survives due to no pressure from below. Great...
  3. You would expect if named McDonald plays and so does Spargo since they tweeted it out. Suspect the last 2 sports will be Fritsch and Joel Smith. Imo neither Wagner or Garlett should hold there spots
  4. To much left to to few, I’ll reserve judgment until Viney is back, if we are still stinking it up then we have to go back to the drawing board

    GAME DAY

You realise if we are to play finals those are the type who need to lift, they just need more time, they are still young and all 3 have shown at times they are capable
  6. Doesn’t help he’s been asked to pinch hit in the ruck, from what I recall he injured his shin in the north game doing just that
  7. We were fine until it got a bit wet last week, under Goodwin we haven’t played wet or windy conditions well at all as we do t adjust for the conditions
  8. Might have been said already but of the 21 games we conceded 4 or more goals in a row since round 21 2017, we have won 9 and lost 12, of the 5 games we didn’t concede 4 or more we won all 5 Richmond for comparison conceded 4 or more 8 times in the same 26 home and away games, winning 1 and losing 7, of the 18 games they didn’t concede 4 of more in a row they won 17 lost 1. 2 possible takes from this, we are either very good at winning when we concede 4 or more straight, or we are losing many games we should have won due to this
  9. I always find it interesting that people always focus on the negatives of a player, ie they missed the shot, stuffed the kick, turned it over ect. It’s almost as if they would prefer a player who made no mistakes but in doing so did nothing in the first place. On that can someond explain why they would have Bugg out before Garlett or Fritsch this week. I mean he had more shots on goal, more tackles and more score involvements than both of them. It seems like people would prefer he had 1 shot and 5 disposals like Garlett
  10. Agree with the ins but not the outs. Although Bugg can be wasteful in front of goal it was only last week he was one of our best players, and even taking his accuracy today into account he was still one of the better players in the fwd line today, on form Fritsch or Garlett go out before he does. Harmes also gets a pass to since he is stupidly been played out of position as a back up ruck, Melksham is debatable but I think he has runs on the board so would survive for now. My outs would be Jetta, Frost, Vince and Fritsch Outside of Fritsch I don’t think any of the other 3 has played what I would consider a good game this year. Not that they are the only ones mind you but they are the most expendable of that group
  11. Under Goodwin we haven’t played well when it is wet or windy so today’s result was not unexpected once I saw the weather, I was more surprised that we did so well in the first qtr than anything. Lever has to go back to the 2’s and find some form, I don’t care how silly it makes the club look in recruiting him on big money it’s the only way he will be any use to us, continuing to play him is doing him no favours
  12. Hawks fwd line is quite small so I could see Frost going out for brayshaw I could also see Hannan coming in for Fritsch who struggled a little last week. I think Weideman will need to put together a string of good games in the vfl before he will get a look in, worst thing for him at this stage would be to bring him in and he has no impact and goes straight out again. Not sure who listens to SEN here but King and the guy from champion data had some interesting stats about our fwd line this year yesterday, basically we are the top few for marks inside 50, entries inside 50 we are also one of the highest defencive pressure fwd lines too, I think this is in no small part to playing small.
  13. ANB is simply not getting enough of it round the contest for mine. Melksham also isn’t having any impact on the scoreboard so has to be under pressure to hold his spot and dare I say Jetta is really struggling to have the impact that he has had in the past few years A number of times yesterday we really lacked pace for mine so Hunt has to come back as soon as he finds form in the VFL, we saw him go fwd a few times last year so I’d try swapping him out for Melksham if he puts his hand up. Brawyshaw is the obvious in for ANB if he continues to put his hand up at VFL level. Something still feels off to me this year, we aren’t playing anywhere near our best footy, a lot of players are down on last year’s form but this is hidden somewhat due to the massive improvements of Hogan, Gawn and Petracca
  14. Both these are spot on, it feels like too many people are just looking at names to decide on who they would like in or out, rather than objectively looking at how each player performed. I'd just like to add Goodwin has shown a clear preference for players who get the tackle, spoil or perform the pressure act over the player who is more skilled with ball in hand. This might hurt us slightly in the short term but if every player knows they need to bring that in order to get a game regardless of other talents we will be a much better team for it. That is how you built a culture that stands up when it matters and why teams like the swans are always in the mix year in year out while other teams cycle in and out contention.
  15. Assuming no injuries, I wouldn’t be making any changes other than, perhaps Vince or bugg for Brayshaw. Brayshaw did play a nice cameo up fwd in the Jlt so might be viable. Pedersen has to say in to ruck when Gawn is off and to play as a decy tall fwd, we have no one else who can play that role. Lewis despite his brain fades stays as I think his knowage on field is invaluable to a young team plus he’s fine the other 90% of the time, he was instrumental in our 2nd half turn round last week. Wagner did enough for mine, probably says more about our lack of depth that he stays in the side, what I would give to still have Howe, he single handily kept pies in the game today.
  16. I expect we will see, Hannan and Salem out for Brawyshaw, Tyson, Bugg (pick 2). I don’t necessarily agree but think Maynard and Wagar did what was required from the coaching groups pov, that been 1 getting to the contest and 2 putting their head over the ball. Personally I think that is to dogmatic but that seems to be the way of thinking right now.
  17. The better team on the day won, good to see that we gutted it out and almost pinched it, in the past we could have folded after half time.
  18. Unless Brayshaw and Tyson are didn’t come up I can’t figure out why 1 or both were not picked, going just off the JLT games, I would have both ahead of Hannan, Maynard and Wagner, they can call play the same roles of mid, general defence or general forward
  19. Sure but reading through peoples reactions you would think Robbo just shot bambi by suggesting as much Outside of Stringer they are have the same fwd line that won them the flag in 2016, if they can find some of that form again they should be back in the 8 this year, I don't think Richmonds fwd line was any more potent last year either. For the last 2 years at least the team that ultimately won has been the best at creating pressure inside the f50 and more importantly defending
  20. Not sure why people are surprised or upset by this, in no particular order I’d have crows, cats, port, swans, tigers and gws ahead of us in the race for the 8 and I’d have us on par with bombers, saints, wc and dogs. So I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have us missing the 8 again
  21. This thinking is the problem with they way champion data ranks teams. A midfield is more than just 4 players, to be an effective mid it’s really the combination of the 12-14 players that go through there and that is what these stats miss, as some of those players would on paper be named in the back and fwd half. Having 4 dominant players actually shows how weak the rest of these mid is the best mids will spread this load out
  22. Too an extent, if you take out his pinch hitting in the ruck due to Gawn been injured I would say he would be selected in the fwd line behind hogan, Tmac, Garlett and Petracca. He’s basically competing with Pedersen, Weideman and Hannan already for the last 2 spots. Hannan and Weideman both could go past him next year. Point is at the end of the day he had trade value, we have seen his ceiling in 2016 and he was imo starting to fall towards been a fringe player.
  23. Watts was on borrowed time as it stands, unless he found his 2016 form he would have spent more and more time in the 2nds. With Lever coming in, Tmac going fwd and Pedersen and Weideman playing the 3rd tall he would not have had a spot. Better to get something for him now than nothing in a year or 2
  24. What do you expect his father to say, of corse he is going to take Jacks side and believe what Jack has told him about how it all went down. You either believe the line the club has put out there since last pre season, or you believe Watt's that he was blind sided by the whole thing or you site some where in between. Personally I don't think there is any conspiracy, what did the club have to gain by lying about Watts condition during the preseason last year, no one was disputing it then, but now that he is been traded people are questioning it. The club has been consistent on this matter since last year
  25. Watts value and rated ability is evident by what the other teams are willing to pay for him an offer of 29 tells me is that they rate him as a speculative pick up which your stats above show. Us on demonland tend to over rate our own, to everyone out side the demonland bubble Watts is a joke of a player and will be no great loss to us if and when he goes
