No change for me, specifically I'd leave Tmac out. I think Weid was more effective as the main target this week than tmac has been all year and Jackson is more effective as a 2nd ruck and for a big guy does a lot of pressure acts when he doesn't have the ball in hand, i noticed quite a few times Gawn stayed back for the intercept mark while Jackson rucked in the fwd line. While they are both playing well I'm happy to wait and let Tmac push his way back in as I dont think there is room for him without one going out

Pickett was never going to last till 28 dogs would have taken him with pick 15 if he even lasted till then. Agree Jackson is high risk high reward so we have to wait and see there. None of the other players that were in the pick 3 range have done anything yet anyway.

I'd question if you even need a pure fwd these days if all they do is kick 2 a week, Dan Menzel did that and look where he is at now. Now that there isn't 80 goal, let alone 100 goal players the key fwds need to do more than kick 2 week, some mids can nearly do as much all the while getting it near 30 times as well. If Weid is to survive he needs to be getting those 2 on average every game along with having a hand in a few more or getting up the field and being a link player on the wing, otherwise we may as well be playing another mid size player who has a more rounded game, ANB as much as he annoys me delivers as much round the goals right now and brings more to the table in other areas.

What are the rules about the number of players allowed in the hub, and if there is a limit isn’t that a huge disadvantage to the Victorian teams
-
Weid out (complete liability when not marking, which happens rarely) Brown or Jackson in Jetta out (unfortunately passed it, a first gamer tore him a new one) - Rivers back in
-
Problem is he is a complete liability if he doesn’t mark it. Whether that be following up the mark attempt with something on the ground or knocking it to advantage I don’t think I saw him do that once.

When is the last time we won any other way?

I just want to know why after fighting to get back in the game in q2 and shutting down cats chip and mark game we backed off in q3 and let them play that style again, only to shut to them down again in q4 and almost pinch it. If we just stuck to the way we played in q2 the game was ours. I can only think we wanted to win it our way rather than just win. We had the talent on the park to win today, I guess this evens out the blues win which we didn’t deserve

Without a crowd the game is completely unwatchable imo, absolutely hollow feeling for a neutral supporter. The AFL needs to pull the pin and just wait till crowds can come back. If that doesn’t happen this year so be it.
-
How many goals do they have between them I'd still call this a major point of weeknedss, personally I don't think any are at AFL standard currently in that position its just unproven potential
-
Much preferred Harmes when he was fwd of centre, back half does not work for him at all. I think ANB needs to make way for him
-
Plenty other others would have to go out before Jack was on the chopping block, he might not be the star we hopped but as a 3rd or 4th mid I think he can't be beat. Just needs to play within himself when it comes to kicking. Just to add Jones is 1 year from retirement and Brayshaw one knock away to. We don't have the depth people think
-
Problem is he might have to find a role outside the middle and still be effective, Our starting 3 mids will probably be Viney, Oliver and Petracca. Harmes and Brayshaw will probably only get a gig when one of them is resting
-
His style of play has gone out of favour at the MFC, his strength is to run and kick it long down the line from half back beyond that he is bog standard vfl level player. With the way teams play now it's about holding onto the ball until you are inside 50, a bomb down the line is more likely than not to come straight back with interest.
-
I thought it was just a given that Rowell and Anderson were picks 1 and 2, and green given he was an academy pick for gws was probably always going to end up there, so realistically it seems Jackson was the only player on the radar for us.
-
Interesting it was only really between green and Jackson at pick 3, young and others weren't even mentioned
-
AFL also later clarified that the contract of any free agent move must be paid out in full even if the player retired, this doesn't apply to any other contracts, it started with buddy but now applies to all free agents
-
Think they just forgot some punctuation "To Hell and back?"
-
Was always a long shot, at least better to happen now and not after we pick him up

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Garbo replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure y we are so into this kid, under sized ruck by modern standards and not shown enough as a key fwd IMO and those are speculative enough as is with high picks, surely we need a player like Hayden Young more, hard to see any return on this kid inside the next 4 years -
To classy for us, we will surely draft another honest inside mid. I look fwd commenting in the to why didn’t we draft Hayden young threads of the future
-
Watched some highlights the other week, a lot of no look get it down the field 50 meter kicks, I’d like us to draft the best player who can hit a target on the lead from 30 meters with a flat punt
-
Indeed it does, but like Luke ball he could put a price of 1 million for 1 year, and have a hand shake to play for 400 the next 2
-
So long as he doesn’t come on big money or cost anything much in picks, don’t see why not. At minimum he ads to our depth, might even find a spot, would be an upgrade on the Wagners or Anb who are still on our list and play senior games
-
How many players still have a question mark at 26 years of age and turn it round. I think what we saw this year is as good as it gets for him.
