TMac & Brown
They were both key to winning the flag in 2021, maybe brown doesn’t come over if we offer less and we never win a flag, who cares if they go a year long, what players are we missing out on anyway. It would have just been speculative late picks or rejects from another team anyway. There is no million dollar free agent we could have got instead. Same thing with Grundy people act like we had some other better option last year. Id say we actually have fantastic list management we haven’t lost a single player in as long as I can recall to cap issues. The fact we have the space to take these chances is a good thing

Christian Petracca a chance to win the 2023 Brownlow Medal?
Did some numbers on votes vs top 8 sides some interesting outcomes Neale 14 votes in 10 games Bont 9 in 10 Daicos 6 in 9 that he played (polled in just 2 games) Trac 12 in 10 Bont given dogs lost a lot vs top 8 that’s not bad for him but Daicos really loads up vs the weaker teams and really stuggled vs top 8 sides while Neale played better vs top 8. Might be something to keep an eye on in the grand final.

PODCAST: SF vs Carlton
After another disappointing end to the year where we fall short again where is the improvement coming from to take the next step or do you think we still have the list to win the flag and just got unlucky with injuries. Oliver getting back late in the year seemed to unsettle the midfield, Fritsch looking NQR for the finals, Petty and Melksham going down, JVR getting suspended and don’t forget Brayshaw. Was it all too much in the end despite some brave efforts. How long do May and Gawn have left at there current output and what does life look like post them and is the cliff coming sooner than we expect. Love to here your thoughts

POSTGAME: SF vs Carlton
Sure this might be the best option based on where our list is at, but Goodwin needs to take responsibility that we find ourself in this position. Early in the season we were a much more accurate side when players were still fresh, as the season wore on and players become fatigued our accuracy become less and less. I’ll use Petrcca as an example if we made him a fwd of centre player only and didn’t have him going the full press all game as a true mid he might start kicking a few more goals, making some smarter decisions with kicks into 50. The fact we rely largely on the same core players to play 90% game time at the contest isn’t sustainable.

POSTGAME: SF vs Carlton
We don’t draft good kicks, our game plan means we don’t get easy shots on goal often, the way we play means players more gassed when taking shots meaning less accuracy, all things he has control over. If it was a freak occurrence in a single game I would agree it’s not his fault but this happens to often to be luck and if it continues to cost us at the deep end of the season he should be held to account
- Yet another wasted season?

What's needed in 2024
No draft picks are likely to help in the near term, if we want to win with the list we have right now we must trade for a key fwd. The other choice is to draft best available trade for players on the cheap and accept we probably just aren’t good enough right now but happy to play finals for years to come not unlike cats the last decade. I’d vote for the latter over risking it all to maybe get 1 more now.

PREGAME: SF vs Carlton
We never really got to see the Gawn and Grundy combo in good weather outside preseason and round 1 where is worked well. I think it might be worth one last try we have nothing else to loose. Beyond the other forced changes spargo might be worth a shot the one thing he does well is setup goals with short 20-30 meter passes which is something we sorely missed last week

Any word on Angus?
Don’t think it will be taken into account but Maynard’s behaviour immediately after the incident didn’t look like that of someone who was sorry for what happened which is what you would expect of somebody who did something by accident, instead he got defensive which is typical of somebody who is guilty. Hopefully Gus is alright, but if not I’d expect some very nervous people at AFL house, the way they handle this will have ramifications for how this goes legally down the track I suspect. If they condone what happened as a football act then they are effectively saying it’s Brayshaws responsibility to protect himself in that situation. I’d find it hard to believe there is a court out there that would agree with that sentiment.

Blues getting a bruise free game, compared to us last night. Going to be much fresher than us next week

POSTGAME: QF vs Collingwood
Wasted many opportunities tonight but the pies came with more hunger and we left our run too late, only got ourselves to blame. Season isn’t over and may flags have been won from this position but we need to make some serious adjustments fwd of centre as it’s simply not working we are expecting miracles while pies at the other end getting 1v1 and 2v2 like playing with a hand tied behind your back.

PREGAME: QF vs Collingwood
If Cameron and Cox stay in and the weather stays as predicted, I’ll be cheering for more rain, it would be the biggest blunder pies could make. Debatable if we should even bring Tmac in let lone Grundy to help Gawn. Just play Smith as 2nd tall, Hibbo for Turner and leave Laurie in the starting team. If u want an insurance policy have Tmac or Grundy sub

Farewell Brodie Grundy
More than that we need another backup, if Gawn went down round 1 next year we would be screwed unless we can secure someone else. Unless we can find someone and at net be no worse off we should hold onto Grundy until such a time as we can fill that gap.
