  1. If we are bottom 4 next year it probably is better to trade him if he truely wanted out, he would still have massive value and lets us fast track a rebuild before Tasmania comes in
  2. Yes and incoming, it’s up-to dees if we want to trade, realistically it’s a salary dumb if we do. Personally unless he’s fallen off the wagon again I’d be waiting 12 months as if he can get his form back at a minimum it would increase our bargaining position at worst we get the same deal, I can’t see his stock falling any further.
  3. That’s about the dumbest thing I’ve ever read
  4. It was Tom Morris saying someone in Clarries camp thinks dees would trade for a future first and a player, hardly the most reliable reporter or sources I doubt even Oliver himself would know what dees might want for him
  5. It’s quite possible Clarry is thinking the grass is greener and maybe this is our way of getting him to look round and see what the reality would be for him outside the mfc, I doubt he would get the special treatment and latitude he has received at Melbourne from anyone else. What other captain from any other club is going to board him while he get over his issues that almost derailed his career while there wife is almost due to give birth. It’s going to be almost 2 years now that Carrie had been paid like a million dollar player and playing like a half million dollar player.
  6. No one is bigger than the club, besides Oliver hasn’t held up his end of the bargain after signing his new contract. I don’t have any issue if we want to wait another year and see how he is going then but I’m not against a trade if we can work something out that doesn’t involve us paying his wage and get a talented player back who can immediately play a role
  7. But they nearly always come back. Maybe the grass isn’t always greener and things at dees aren’t so bad
  8. Still doesn’t change the fact that unless you are replacing him with another asset then its all for nothing unless you only care about playing a million under the cap next year to make the balance sheet look better. As to discontent unless we have players saying it’s Oliver or me and those players are higher on the totem poll than Oliver then it makes even less sense To whit do you trade in a Ferrari for a new VW golf because it broke down and is a deprecating asset
  9. Well it’s more what he’s worth to us a late first round is fairly useless to us so unless we simply what him out which I think is a weak move by the club if so and will be one we regret.
  10. With the way the media report particularly around trade period it’s all very loose and fast you can’t really believe anything, but just like a broken clock they will be right every now and again, whether that’s through anything other than dumb luck is debatable
  11. If he might help fix the fwd line I’m all for it, we won’t be going far if we stick with the same lineup

Anb out Caleb in, his best was quite good not sure what’s happened
  13. Garbo replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
We already quite slow in the middle we don’t need another one plus he can’t kick over a jam tin
  14. I think her immediately stepping aside would at least show some accountability for what has gone on this last 18 months and would signal to Petracca and others things are been taken seriously
  15. Hopefully Jeff whites son nominates dees but gotta think this last few week might sway him to goto Gold Coast
  16. Think dees should focus on getting up the draft to fast track any rebuild, going to be to hard to get any player of quality with everything going on
  17. Ah well it’s was fun while it lasted maybe we can merge with North Melbourne
  18. Problem with any trade for Oliver is his contract is so large relative to his output this year and off-field issues, realistically if we were to trade him we would end up paying a large chunk of this contract and only be getting a marginal pick back I’d guess late first round. Unless we need to get his contract off the books for salary cab reasons like pies with Grundy and Treloar it doesn’t makes sense to trade Oliver unless we think he had no future as an afl player and just want to get out while we can at any cost
  19. Funny on Monday several shows and news papers went with the narrative Jack was gone, then low and behold less than 24 hours later he signed to stay for an additional 3 years and all I have seen since are crickets from the same media. No apology, no I was wrong they won’t even acknowledge it happened. Shows how reliable there inside knowledge is if they didn’t even know a 3 year extension was imminent
  20. Hope it’s not that case but if dees continue the downward trend over the next few seasons will it still look wise to have a then 33 yo still on the list for a further 2 years when we should be getting games in kids, what’s wrong with taking things one year at a time for a player of his age
  21. Love Viney but is this the right move, he would be 35 by the end of that contact, not many make it that long let alone smallish inside mids.
  22. After all the negative stuff this last month a win like this gives you hope for the future no matter what happens now
  23. Have we been carrying Oliver all year, we look to have so much more run without him out there
  24. Wonder if it’s at all linked to Dan Houston coming out way
  25. Winter Saturday night games are the worst, with the season effectively done it’s silly to think many will turn up when there is so many other options that are more enjoyable. I’d love if dees were a club where fans turned up rain hail or shine but like we have seen even tigers and a 100k members they have had some horrible crowds to so what chance do we have. We have more options than ever for entertainment and there needs to be a compelling product if you want the fans to come.
