Geelong Sets Sights on Oliver
If it happens we should demand Max Holmes as part of any trade

The Premiership Window Closing?
Window is shut, we are already behind the best teams and will continue to slip slowly until we need to rebuild in 4-5 years time and we can then start all over again, I was hoping we would be able to sustain like cats and swans have over a long period of time but I just don’t see it happening. Maybe in 10-12 years time we might do better. I just hope I don’t need to wait nearly 60 years

Tom Sparrow Re-Signs Until 2026
Long as he can find a permanent spot in the midfield I think he will stay, only reason to go would be for more opportunity like James Jordan last year

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs Carlton
Salem in the midfield love to see that continue, shocking he’s never had a run at it till now. Don’t like Tomlinson down back but maybe he allows may and lever to play there roles Schache as a fwd looked as good as I’ve seen, ruck not so much but I’ll take what I can get. Sparrow looks like he will go another level. Windsor looks like he will have an immediate impact so another good pick by the recruiting team.

Dees Could Become ‘One of the Worst One-Hit Wonders’
Sure going into 21 no one expected it but post has been a let down, dogs haven’t once finished top 4 under beverage in the home and away, no one could honestly think they should be a multi premiership team based on that, they probably have over achieved in even getting 1. This is about getting the most out of your self when you have the chance and in that regard this team has failed post 21

Dees Could Become ‘One of the Worst One-Hit Wonders’
If we don’t win another it would be the biggest fail I’ve ever seen for a team to not follow up. Dogs 2016 doesn’t compare as that was out of nowhere, Wc 2018 and Cats 2022 were end of era flags. Pies 2010 and Bombers 2000 would come close but both were unlucky with there timing with Lions and Cats been the dominant teams of the era. These last 2 years were there for us to win if we didn’t fall on our face and our window might now be over. That or we were never that good to begin with and just got lucky

Unity
So everything is fine, anyone that isn’t onboard this train is just holding us back. We should just put the blinkers on and not question our reality or talk about the PR spin that comes from the club

Unity
Hard to unite behind the team when the more that is exposed the worse it gets. Without breaking any rules of this forum the club and most supporters collectively have their heads in the sand.

POSTGAME: Match SIM vs Richmond
All signs seem to point to dees falling down the ladder this year, 1. We have many more injuries where as 21-22-23 we were much more injury free this time of year allowing us to start those seasons strong. 2. A number of players have signs they may by past there best, Fritsch, Salem ANB to name a few and no one is stepping up to take the slack. 3. How much petrol in the tank do Gawn and May have as they aren’t getting in younger. 4. Will Oliver get back to his best. I think we still play finals but I don’t think we will be serious contenders this year. Might just be best to look at this as a year of learning

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 12th February 2024
Feels like Groundhog Day with all the fwds still injured, even if some get back for round 1 they going to be severely underdone. JVR going to need to do something special if we going to even match last year

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
Not a great draft but Pick 2 over Bont at 4 and Cripps 13, beside at time of draft I don’t think he was seem as an outside mid more as just all rounder mid, Windsor has been drafted specifically to play wing from the sound of it

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
I trust our recruiters as they have a very good strike rate, but my gut says you shouldn’t take small fwds or outside mids inside the first 10 and should be looking at an outside mid only with our with our 2nd pick. We should be looking for a Steven May replacement given Petty is also likely out in a year or 2 as well. Curtin seems like the ready made replacement and seems highly regarded or Caddy if we want more fwd options.

Phantom Drafts 2023
Mistake if we don’t take Curtain at 6 assuming he is still there, Leake should still be there 11 so no need to rush and take him early if we also want him. We are set for mids and they are easier to draft or trade for if we want another next year.

The Pick 1 Thread
This years draft is quite weak after the first 10 by all reports, no way would it be worth giving up 3 first rounds picks to to effectively upgrade pick 6 to 3 those other picks aren’t worth a whole lot. Even if we won the flag next year 18 next year is worth more than 18 this year and we might finish significantly lower making the deal even worse. At best I’d think 6 and next years 1st for 3 would be sufficient.
-
The Pick 1 Thread
I’d say best chance of getting pick 1 would be package up 6 and futures 1st for 3 and then trade 3 and 11 for 1
