I think the point is no one will be winning if all the dirty laundry is made public and head will roll regardless

Does all this feel quite similar to what wc went through when Judd left them, I’m sure at the time it felt like the end of the world but I think looking back they came out ahead, if we play this smart there is no reason we can’t come out of this similarly, first off if things are beyond repair I’d be saying we will trade but we will pick to who, I’d be probably looking at north and doing a deal for larkey and there first pick, I think that could work for both clubs

I’d take just the picks, I think lynch is looking for one last bonus to whoever would bite

You basically just named McKay but with his kicking that’s a dead end we will have a 60 goal fwd and never make finals

Investing one of the rumoured reasons is a lack of training facilities, I find it amazing we don’t loose more players for that reason. We still have 0 movement on that front as well just goes in the to hard basket

Happy to stand corrected, must have missed him.

Even if he is going they have got to play the part and say he’s not to get maximum value in any trade, I noticed he wasn’t at the game on Friday whilst I saw nearly every other player who wasn’t playing, as a few others have said above I’d have more concern over tracs playing future period and while I would love him in the red and blue next year it might also be for the best if he isn’t.

Oliver Trade Rumours
Problem with any trade for Oliver is his contract is so large relative to his output this year and off-field issues, realistically if we were to trade him we would end up paying a large chunk of this contract and only be getting a marginal pick back I’d guess late first round. Unless we need to get his contract off the books for salary cab reasons like pies with Grundy and Treloar it doesn’t makes sense to trade Oliver unless we think he had no future as an afl player and just want to get out while we can at any cost

Club in crisis - Media pile on - August 2024
Funny on Monday several shows and news papers went with the narrative Jack was gone, then low and behold less than 24 hours later he signed to stay for an additional 3 years and all I have seen since are crickets from the same media. No apology, no I was wrong they won’t even acknowledge it happened. Shows how reliable there inside knowledge is if they didn’t even know a 3 year extension was imminent

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Hope it’s not that case but if dees continue the downward trend over the next few seasons will it still look wise to have a then 33 yo still on the list for a further 2 years when we should be getting games in kids, what’s wrong with taking things one year at a time for a player of his age

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
Love Viney but is this the right move, he would be 35 by the end of that contact, not many make it that long let alone smallish inside mids.

At the end of day trac is a professional first and foremost and regardless of what has gone on he and the club will work to fix whatever his grievances are. The reality is he’s on a deal that sees him to the effective end of his career and is been paid extremely well for it. There is no scenario I can see where a trade is possible outside of getting a player of equal value back, ie Charlie Curnow for Trac, picks just won’t cut it in this case. This isn’t a case of a salary cap dump or player who is a free agent in 12 months or someone who is going to walk away from the game if they don’t get there way. I just can’t see how this won’t get worked out as the alternative is to hard

Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Wonder if it’s at all linked to Dan Houston coming out way

So far as I know it’s not about the injury but how it was handled by the club after going to hospital, he was sitting in the emergency department of the hospital and the club was bothering him about posting a massage to the fans rather than worrying about his personal well being
-
Christian Petracca
Well I can tell you for a fact he was extremely unhappy with the club after been forced to post on socials after his injury while sitting in a hospital bed that everything was ok when it clearly wasn’t. It should have been a time for family only and you had the club getting up in everything

What was your excuse?
Winter Saturday night games are the worst, with the season effectively done it’s silly to think many will turn up when there is so many other options that are more enjoyable. I’d love if dees were a club where fans turned up rain hail or shine but like we have seen even tigers and a 100k members they have had some horrible crowds to so what chance do we have. We have more options than ever for entertainment and there needs to be a compelling product if you want the fans to come.
-
Dan Houston
If that happens I’m sure a future first would be sufficient if that was the consensus value, I think most in the industry don’t think dees will be contenders next year so in there mind we will be round that mark or worse

Revisionist History - Luke Jackson to Freo
Jackson is the next Nic Nat, take that however you like. The media love him and he will get on the highlights and all Australians but how valuable is he in a W-L sense, I’d say negligible. As to the dees I think we will be better off with the players we got from the trade and the cap space he otherwise would have demanded to stay.
-
Dan Houston
You think we are certain to get the next Bontempelli do you, as it’s more they are a bust. The point is no matter who they are they aren’t going to be a better player than Houston in the time frame this team has left in a flag window. So if the goal is to win flags then Houston is going to give us the best chance.
-
Dan Houston
By the end of this season he’s going to be a 2x aa, he’s going to be a massive in if we get him. The only downside is it will certainly cost us our first pick in its entirety so we will potentially be giving up a future gun for the now. I guess it all comes back to if you think we still have a shot at the flag with our current group or if we need to be going back to the draft to reload and go again in a 3-4 years time by which point May, Gawn and Viney will all be gone. I certainly think unless we bring in more quality players we won’t be a contender next year

Time to go Goody?
Goodwin is a frustrated coach but this year has been defined by injuries.

Petty Re-Signs for 2 Years
12 months ago everyone would be over the moon at this, we successfully played him into a slump and got him to take a pay cut, now time to put him back and look like a star again
