Offensive Coordinator? I'm sure he will run our o-line well.... Waiting for Brett Kirk to be appointed our new Special Teams coordinator...
-
I wonder what his trade value is like at the moment? Collingwood pulling out means it is a two horse race between staying at doggies or joining GCS. He is a handy player.

Ross Lyon will do anything short of selling his soul to avoid a rebuild. If he thinks he can get a good season out if Dawes I think he takes a gamble on him. We wouldn't get a pick inside 60 for him at the trade table, I think he goes there as a dfa after the trade period.

Wow, this rumoured 700-800k salary has me stumped. Whoever his agent is can stay away from representing any of our players.......

Jesse Hogan re-signs to end of Season 2019
Adzman replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
2 year deal is perfect for both parties. It gives the dees a chance to open up our premiership window, then gives Jesse the choice of money v success in 2 years time. We don't overpay Jesse in the meantime, and Jesse gets to see if the club can deliver a chance to play finals footy before making his next decision. Great news!!! -
He shut up most of the football community with his footy this season. The bust tag has been put to bed.

I really liked Salem's 2015 and was looking forward to 2016. Didn't happen for him this season but I'm still hopefull he will be a star.
-
Jones has been nothing short of sensational the past few seasons. He could walk away from the game now and still go down as a club great. He might join the 300 game club if he can stay fit and we can play a few years of finals. What a champion!

Rookie List for me. We have some tough calls to make with our list and I don't think you make tough calls on other players to bring in a player with attitude problems. Let him work his way off the rookie list. If he can show enough character to do that then he might just make it as a league footballer.

Whatever his price was it just went up. He was probably their best in a losing team. Whorethorn can pay overs if they want him. I hope the Swans bend the Hawks over during trade negotiations if he nominates the Hawks.

This is the first blue collar team to win the flag in a long time. This gives me hope that our team could one day hoist the cup without needing a team of 1000 top ten draft picks to make it happen. I think gws win 3 of the next 5 cups though.....

Motlops currency is on the slide. His best footy is good, but his worst is bloody average. I don't think he makes us a better side. Happy to be proven wrong.

Because they are squeezed for cap room.....nothing more nothing less.

Love your optimism, but those same sports science blokes at the cattery waited and managed menzel through years of injuries for him to come good against the odds, yet they are willing to move vardy on. Our sports science blokes are the same ones who had to rely in the Richmond doctors to correctly uncover the extent if trengoves injury. Not saying our docs are bad, but geelongs docs have a ripping track record with menzel, lonergan and the older brigade.

I salivate at the idea of getting him cheap and him reaching his potential. But reality is that footy is a harsh business. His body hasn't held up for the past 7 seasons, what reasons do we have to think 2017 is going to be any different?

I agree the Boyd deal has hurt them. I think they also overpaid for Suckling when he hit the market. Shame for them given how well they have drafted in recent years.
-
With Prestia and Omeara on the move GCS might be willing to deal one of their flobbidygillion draft picks for the right player. I don't think vanders or wagner is enough to get it done, but i expect them to be very active once the prestia and omeara deals are done.

Goodwin was a great player. I hope he can be known more for being a great coach. My fingers are crossed, I hope he becomes the next clarko!

Realistic Trade Week Results (Wish List)

I just want someone with great outside run and carry. No idea who fits the realistic tag there. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DECLAN KEILTY
Adzman replied to Steve13's topic in Melbourne Demons
Keilty was impressive for Casey in the games I got to see. At 21 yo he is the perfect rookie list candidate. It's a shame to hear we may have already passed on taking him. -
Hawks can't get enough picks to land those 2 unless they shed some of their best 22. Hartung looks Richmond bound which will land them a pick, but even if they trade this year's first rounder, next year's first rounder, this year's second rounder, next year's second rounder and the Hartung pick they are probably a pick short to land O'meara and Mitchell. Gold Coast have said publicly they will play hardball with O'meara and the going rate is 2 first rounders. Given the where hawthorn's picks fall, their 2 first rounders and a second rounder might not do it for GCS.

Daniel Wells brings back memories. To put him in perspective, he was drafted pick 2 the same year we traded woey to Collingwood, then traded for Chris Heffernen from Essendon. In that same draft we selected Bell, Nick 426 Smith, and Rivers. Wells was a guy with a big future in 2002, going into 2017 he is a highly skilled vet with a body made of glass. Someone will offer him 2-3 years based on his ability, but they will get lucky to get 40 games of senior footy out of him if they do.

Dick jokes aside for a minute, Dal Santo is on the slide and is declining. If we need experience why don't we look for a trade for a 27/28yo leader and find a piece we can get to assist for another 3 seasons? One season isn't worth it.

Greater Western Sydney (a dynasty to rival the Hawks)
Adzman replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watched the game today. Gws will win 2 of the next 5 flags. I wouldn't think this year is one of them but you never know. They are just loaded with talent, haven't seen anything quite like it. Just handcrafted by the AFL to dominate.
