Or... we should have still done the trade and taken Cripps.

It’s interesting to also note that Kelly was eligible for the mini-drat that netted us Hogan. He was thought to be at the time the third best prospect behind Jack Martin (clear no 1) and Jesse. Melbourne had a very good look at Kelly then, but chose Hogan.

It is what it is... I’m happy with Salem, Hunt and Preuss over Billings.

Daniel Menzel
In fairness, Hawkins makes plenty more tackles than Menzel, despite having 10 cm and 10 kg on him. 2017: Menzel- 26 tackles from 19 games Hawkins- 61 tackles from 22 games 2018: Menzel- 14 tackles from 13 games Hawkins - 40 tackles from 21 games He'd be in competition with players like ANB (118 tackles), Spargo (55 tackles) Petracca (73 tackles) and Melksham (44 tackles)

Jacob Townsend
What’s knock on him?? He was lighting it up in the last third of 2017 kicking 16 goals in 5 matches, including the granny.
-
Tom Sheridan
Someone could have collected Neville Jetta as a delisted free agent prior to us Rookie Listing him... that’s a scary thought.

Tom Sheridan
Some decent veterans there, such as Daniel Cross and James Kelly. Simpkin got a premiership with the Hawks and Hambling for the Bullies. Membrey was a good pick-up for the Saints, as was Robinson for Brissy and Barlow offered something for the GC. After that... the cupboard is a bit bare... 2012: Jonathan Simpkin 1 November 2012 Delisted Geelong Hawthorn None [22] Tom Gillies 13 November 2012 Delisted Geelong Melbourne None [23] Dylan Roberton 30 November 2012 Delisted Fremantle St Kilda None [24] Nick Lower 3 December 2012 Delisted Fremantle Western Bulldogs None 2013: Daniel Cross 1 November Delisted Western Bulldogs Melbourne [9] Jeremy Laidler 1 November Delisted Carlton Sydney [9] Luke McGuane 4 November Delisted Richmond Brisbane Lions [10] Dylan Addison 7 November Delisted Western Bulldogs Greater Western Sydney [11] Tony Armstrong 7 November Delisted Sydney Collingwood [11] Robin Nahas 8 November Delisted Richmond North Melbourne [11] Aidan Riley 11 November Delisted Adelaide Melbourne [12] Tom Derickx 18 November Delisted Richmond Sydney [13] 2014: Taylor Hunt 2 November 2014 Delisted Geelong Richmond None [11][12] Tim Membrey 5 November 2014 Delisted Sydney St Kilda None [13] Joel Hamling 2 November 2014 Delisted Geelong Western Bulldogs None [14] Sam Blease 3 November 2014 Delisted Melbourne Geelong None [15] Mitch Robinson 3 November 2014 Delisted Carlton Brisbane Lions None [16] Ben Newton 5 November 2014 Delisted Port Adelaide Melbourne None [17] Matthew [censored] 5 November 2014 Delisted Sydney Carlton None [18] 2015: Andrew Moore 6 November 2015 Delisted Port Adelaide Richmond None [8] Jarrad Grant 6 November 2015 Delisted Western Bulldogs Gold Coast None [9] Daniel Gorringe 9 November 2015 Delisted Gold Coast Carlton None [10] Matthew Wright 26 November 2015 Delisted Adelaide Carlton None [11] 2016: James Kelly 4 November 2016 Delisted Essendon Essendon N/A [52] Matt Dea 4 November 2016 Delisted Essendon Essendon N/A [52] Michael Barlow 8 November 2016 Delisted Fremantle Gold Coast N/A [53] Ricky Henderson 8 November 2016 Delisted Adelaide Hawthorn N/A [54] Josh Green 15 November 2016 Delisted Brisbane Lions Essendon N/A [55] 2017: Alex Morgan 1 November 2017 Delisted Essendon North Melbourne N/A [46] Aaron Mullett 1 November 2017 Delisted North Melbourne Carlton N/A [47] Lachlan Keeffe 2 November 2017 Delisted Collingwood Greater Western Sydney N/A [48] Trent McKenzie 2 November 2017 Delisted Gold Coast Port Adelaide N/A [49] Jack Trengove 3 November 2017 Delisted Melbourne Port Adelaide N/A [50]

Trengove to Debut for Port
2010 , 2011 and 2012 I believe.

Trengove to Debut for Port
He'll be entering his 10th year on a senior list. With his injury issues, this is a testament to his character that clubs have wanted to retain him for this long with such uncertainty over his body and fitness.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
I used to get played at full back a lot when I was a kid and got a bit down on myself thinking it was ‘boring’ and negative. Sean Wight 1994 changed all of that with his desperate tackles, smothers and spoils that would send the ball 50m up the ground.
-
Daniel Menzel
Would have to be the laziest player in the league. Gets plenty of cheapies over the back because he doesn’t press or follow his man. Two years in a row geelong have tried to palm him off. With that said, he always seems to pop-up for a good match against us. I’d draft him just so he doesn’t play against us again.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KADE KOLODJASHNIJ
I take this year for KK with a grain of salt and compare it to Brayshaw 2016-17. He was coming from a long, long way back with his concussion issues. Hopefully a preseason, some good advice, technique change and some confidence will see him back to his best - like Gus 2018.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
In my heart of hearts I never really got too attached to Jesse, hence his departure has left me feeling a bit... meh. I took the Scully departure very, very hard and the sight of his malnourished face still makes me clench my fists, but with Jesse, this always felt somewhat inevitable. I feel sorry for the kids with the number one on their guernseys, who are probably experiencing their first taste of the tragedy of a beloved player departing the club, but it's great to see May and KK already making statements about their excitement to be joining the team. I don't wish him ill (Scully, Howe, Frawley), but then again, I also don't wish him all the best (Trengove, Watts, Tyson). He's just another player in purple now.

2018 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem
Salem has a very, very high ceiling and has only shown a glimpse of what he is capable of. Hopefully he is able to hit the preseason healthy, fit and full of confidence.

Recruiting a 3rd tall forward to find another 50 goals?
I don’t see the need to play 3 genuine talks. TMac and Weid along with a range of mediums and smalls is more than enough. In fact, it’s the structure we successfully employed after the Sydney match and kicked a winning score against West Coast, GWS, Geelong and Hawthorn.

Delisting, Trade and FA discussion 2018
And when they said no..?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Maybe have our eyes on a DFA..?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Disappointed to see Jesse go but May and KK (who I rate very highly) to the club is excellent. Id be interested in a last minute trade for 23 if someone became available...

Rumour File
I despise Geelong, but I do feel they are within their rights to be seething about the Kelly trade. I know there are extenuating family circumstances, but the fact that he is wanting to go back to WA for family reasons, but is only willing to go to one club is farcical. IMHO, contracted players should be able to nominate the State that they would like to be traded to and the money they would like to receive- then it's over to the clubs to sort out the trade that's best for them.

Thanks Cameron Pedersen
There would be few players that have had a s big a turn around in fan opinion than Cam Pedersen. His first match was a shocker and he spent his first two years on our list with people counting the days until his contact was up. He retires a much liked and admired player for his contribution during the rebuild.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
What today’s contract ‘revelation’ tells me is that Hogan is happy to stay at the Dees and in Melbourne, but has put to Freo that if they were to make him an obscenely good, too good to refuse offer, then he’d go.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KADE KOLODJASHNIJ
I get the feeling that this is 100% certain to go through, but will be close to the end id trade week as they’d wanna know the Hogan/ May situation before committing a pick to KK. Sounds like the club wants to package May and KK together. If the May trade falls through, trade a pick for him. Very excited about seeing him in the red and blue in 2019 - he is silk.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Gary Lyon and Paul Roos both said this during the finals when Weideman was on fire.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
That was pure class by Tubby.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
When the midfield is flogged, every full back in the league looks poor. Rance v Cox in the PF, or perhaps more tellingly May vs Riewoldt in Round 21 10 goals 6 behinds. No full back, not even the now legendary Steven May, can hold off a genuinely good FF when their midfield is brining the ball in with ease.
