List changes who do we cut, trade or go after.
If Frost is on the way out, I'd love us to look at Dougal Howard from Port as a potential replacement. 199cm backman who could become our Astubry style fullback. We can then have May as the 2nd tall and Lever as 3rd tall/intercept marker. This will allow Petty to remain up forward where I think he showed a bit and also give us flexibility, as both can play as a back up ruckman at times.

Can anyone see Jamie Elliott?

Splitting Draft Pick 3
If the Giants are desperate and offer pick 13,18 and Hately/Caldwell for pick 3 I'd probably take that. Could then take the two quick players with those picks or someone who slides. Cody Weightman has been discussed as an electric small forward and Luke Jackson from WA is one who is a similar player to Grundy and may slide a bit as ruck men often do.

My point is there should be no priority picks. It's up to each club to sort themselves out, not the AFL granting extra picks. Besides, it's looking likely the Suns may get Brad Crouch and Brandon Ellis, so this shows they can do it themselves. I'm all for giving them additional salary cap to pay players more, but giving them extra draft picks is a waste of time.

I don't care what happened in the past. There's a lot of sides that have benefited from priority picks such as Collingwood, Hawthorn, Carlton & West Coast. I'm talking about right now and the fact is the Gold Coast are responsible for their abysmal list. Priority picks should be abolished entirely. We have a draft, we have academy selections, we have father son & we have a salary cap. It's an outdated idea that's no longer required.

Not really related to Billy, but I saw Gary Lyon was talking about the fact Gold Coast delisted Jarryd Lyons, who had a fantastic season for Brissy this year. They also gave up pick 2 for Lachie Weller and did a future pick swap that was a disaster. They DO NOT deserve a priority pick, when they make dumb decision like these. It's seriously a joke.

Brownlow Medal 2019
I hope so as I put cash on Treloar to surprise everyone paying $21

Does the Tigers win give us hope?
The thing about the Tigers is they now have a very mature core group and younger guys around the fringes. They are right in the sweet spot and we are still 3-4 years from being in a similar position. Cotchin - 29 Martin - 28 Reiwoldt - 30 Houli - 31 Astbury - 28 Edwards - 30 Lynch - 26 Lambert - 27 Prestia - 26 Grimes - 28 Caddy - 26 Broad - 26 That is 12 of the 22 that played in the prelim who are 26 or over.

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
No not a FA. History just shows that if a player is OOC and hasn't played many games the season before, that he will generally to the club of choice with very little fuss.
-
The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
He played 5 games all season and is OOC. I'd be offering a 4th rounder for him.

Lyon: Save $$ on Tomlinson, Go All ln on Whitfield
100% agree. You can't be making decisions on the hope someone comes to you. That's just poor management. If it gets to next season and he's available and wants to come to us, then we look at ways to do it. That may involve trading out someone like Brayshaw to free up cap space, but you need to make decisions for the here and now.

Willie Rioli Suspended for 2 years
Does this mean that technically we should have been in the GF last year? I thought the Eagles looked to be playing like a side on performance enhancers.... Perhaps we should share the flag with Collingwood? Well done lads, we've got number 13.

Willie Rioli Suspended for 2 years
another tainted flag for the Eagles.....

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
I think the idea will be to get these two guys as wingers and then add some quick small forwards at the draft. I guess there is also the potential to offer our first round pick to Sydney for Papley and a downgrade.
-
WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON
I really like this. We could then add some zippy small forwards/outside runner with picks 11 and 13.

AFL Identity killed in car crash
Had word a little while ago an AFL identity has been killed in a car crash. Won't name names as it hasn't been confirmed yet.

Fritsch at Home Forward
We had Hibberd, Hore & Frost the majority of the season. As well as Lever for half of the season. We also had Petty and OMac as other options. Fritsch should've been played forward, it was by far our worst area on the ground.
-
Fritsch at Home Forward
LOL. He should'e been there from the start.... perhaps some tanking??
-
Sam Gray
100%. Proven goal kicker and an improvement on Spargo and ANB.
-
What should our midfield set-up be next season?
I realised after I missed him.... yes 100% Fritsch ahead of Spargo.

Trade Tom McDonald Thread
Can we start the 'Trade Everyone' thread and be done with the club?
-
What should our midfield set-up be next season?
Assuming everyone is fit for Round 1 and not counting any trade/draft inclusions (other than Langdon): B: Jetta May Lever HB: Kolodjashnij Frost Hibberd C : Langdon Viney Salem HF: VandenBerg T McDonald Petracca F: Spargo Weideman Melksham R: Gawn Oliver Brayshaw Int: Harmes Hore Hannan Jones

Lachie Whitfield
I'd suggest to not bother posting back to Olisik. Posts about us going after senior coaches like Adam Simpson for a 2 IC role and then gets stuck into others for posting far more realistic trade scenarios. He is the Demonland equivalent of Nuffies on AFL pages....
-
Small forwards - what are our trading and draft options?
The problem is they are hard to get and there's not many available.
-
Lachie Whitfield
Given the recent article suggesting GWS want in on our pick, this could be the perfect opportunity to go after this guy. He's a free agent next year and if he leaves and the Giant finish a similar position, they may lose him for a pick in this teens. I'd be trying for this year's first rounder and next years for Whitfield. I know there is some risk we finish low next year, but there's also the potential we get back into the top 8 with a better run of injuries and an easier draw. Apparently the Hawks will be applying to the AFL to be allowed to trade their first this year, which they are apparently going to be approved. You just have to show the AFL you know what you are doing with this and they have discretion. If we add this guy onto the wing, along with Langdon and the ball winners of Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw and Harmes in the middle I think we become a premiership favourite again. Here's hoping we ask the question and make a serious play.
