  1. I like the match day to be about the match! The only song we should sing before (and after hopefully) is the "Grand old flag". Also, I really don't like "Enter Sandman" playing at the start, totally irrelevant. Though one thing I would like to see which would maybe boost support amongst younger fans is to improve our apparel. The latest New Era caps are good but I think they should have more options and also improve clothing as well. There is a huge market in caps as shown in the US with all theirs and I think it's a huge opportunity to get the brand out there.
  2. I'm going with the following in no specific order: - N. Jones (enough said) - D. Tyson (gun) - J. Viney (heart and soul player) - H. Lumumba (I know he is new but he is a premiership player) - L. Dunn (become very consistent) - C. Dawes (good leader) Wait and see before adding: Hogan, JKH, Brayshaw, Petracca
  3. You can't bring the new card? I think I may have thrown out the old one.
  4. I've never been but thinking of going. If I'm a member can I just turn up with my members card?
  5. Each club should be allowed an academy. In Victoria it could go back to the old zoning style based on each clubs location. Players who then play within this zone are then eligible for that clubs academy and when drafting they then get access to that player based on the weightings. Though I think that possibly they should put some rules in place such as, a team can only draft one academy player each year.
  6. It works really well in the NBA. It helps to get trades done so essentially it makes the system more fair as at the moment clubs are getting shafted on trades pretty often.
  7. As MW mentioned the biggest positive is more bargaining power when trading. It will also give clubs more flexibility with their list management, say for example in our previous few years we needed more mature age players to fill our list, but also needed to keep getting young talent also. We could've traded one of our future picks for a mature age player, that way we can still use all our picks that year but also get a mature age player. An example of a negative would be if a club predicted the other to finish 2nd last the next year and they ended up finishing 10th or something like that. That would mean they would get a worse pick than predicted. But that is just part of it and as always you win some and lose some. Obviously there would need to be rules in place such as: - Can only trade one or two seasons ahead - Can only trade 1 or 2 future picks at any one time I think trading future picks would be a good initiative.
  8. I thought excactly the same MW. I was intially skeptical on how it would play out but they have done really well with this. And it also leads us into the possibility of trading future picks (which I think is just around the corner).
  9. If there is room I'd like to get involved in SC as well. Haven't done it before but happy to give it a go! No team name yet.
  10. Was that on the AFL Fantasy website? I thought we were using the Real DT one this year?
  11. Delistings happen every year, once the player is out of contract the club is free to do what they want. If they are in contract then the club is obliged to pay them out, as we saw with Michael Evans. If a player would prefer to play in the local leagues then that is their choice (I know a lot of players get paid very well in the country leagues). My argument is in regards to FA and recent events (such as players who have been in the system 1-2 years asking to be traded to a certain club). The AFL and AFLPA created FA to be more in line with what happens in the USA, however as mentioned in the USA in sports such as NFL, teams can trade a player wherever they like. It gives the players greater freedom to move and also gives the teams greater freedom to build the best side they can. I personally don't like FA, but if they are going to try and make it even easier for players to move then they also have to make it easier for clubs to trade. That's my opinion anyway, which we are all entitled too.
  12. I never said all of them do, I agree some don't get paid that much. But I'd imagine those players would be happy to play anywhere to get more opportunities so being traded wouldn't bother them too much. The reason I want this is because of FA. If they took away free agency then I'd be happy for it to stay the way it is. However, at the moment we have players with all the power and the clubs can't do anything and have basically no power. It has to be a two-way street.
  13. The fact is being an AFL footballer is not a 'normal' job. The players get a fantastic salary(most of them) at s young age. They get looked after and have great perks and semi-celebrity status. So to have that privilege they should have to deal with what comes their way. The AFL is now just a business, as a club I would want the freedom to improve the business. Being able to trade freely would do that. If the AFLPA wanted free agencies then the clubs should have freedom also.
  14. I am so glad they no longer run this club. I hope we never go through something like that again. Let the skilled footy minds deal with coaching/recruiting. Leave admin to the business minds.
  15. Imagine if we start playing finals regularly again... we might crack 50,000 one day!
  16. He would've got rubbed out for weeks on that hit now.
  17. I think he slipped due to his combine results. Which is good for us, he seems like a natural footballer.
  18. They both played a lot as sub so it's a bit harsh. JKH had a 25 touch game from memory. I'm actually amazed Salem played as much as he did with very little preseason, Roos must really rate him.
  19. Grimes is great as a defender. I really don't rate him at all in the midfield so I hope that can leave him out of there.
  20. I definitely think we should leave anyone under 23 out of the leadership group. That's not saying they aren't capable, it's just better for their development. For me it should be: C- Jones VC- Dawes and Dunn Leadership group- Lumumba, Vince, Cross That should be enough, maybe add Grimes and Garland if not.
