TRAINING: Friday 29th November 2019
Have you been pretty impressed with the new Nieta? How's his skill level?

Welcome to Demonland: Trent Rivers
He was at Bullcreek-Leeming until I think u14s or 15s (won a flag with my bro). Then there were some issues and that's when he moved, along with Jackson I believe. For what it's worth my brother called him last night and he is absolutely pumped to be picked up by Melbourne. He thought he would be going to one of Brisbane or Gold Coast, so it was a big surprise.

Welcome to Demonland: Trent Rivers
It really depends on the type of kicks they are attempting. You can chip 25m kicks to a free player and go at 100%, but never get the ball going anywhere. He's very much a 40-55m kick type of player off half-back.

Welcome to Demonland: Trent Rivers
Yessssssss. My brothers mate! We are all pumped about this. Not super quick but apparently runs all day and an elite kick. Edit: apparently our media team think he's quick so maybe I'm wrong haha

Who would you have taken with pick # 3 - recruiters
I think Jackson could very easily slot in alongside McDonald and Weideman and play 70-80% forward and 10-20% ruck. This will allow us to play McDonald as the 3rd tall/roaming player that he is perfect for. Weid and Jackson can then rotate deep forward, keeping in mind both are very mobile also (Jackson obviously a lot more than Weid). I think Petty could potentially lock down a spot in the backline if Oscar is struggling again also and I like the fact he is 197cm but also fairly mobile for his size.

What to do with what is now Pick 32?
Trent Rivers is good mates with my brother, so I'm hoping he goes to the Dees. Unlikely he slips that far, but you never know. I'd also love Jeremy Sharp, reminds me a bit of Jayden Short which is the type of player I think we need to develop to replace Hibberd. I think I'm leaning towards one of the WA kids as it would always be good for Jackson to have one of his mates there with him. Plus they won the championships so they must be pretty decent players.

Apparently they can't as pick 8 was ours....

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
If small forwards are what we want then surely we tr get two picks in the teens? If we can get 12 & 18 off Port then that could be Weightman and Pickett.

The 'experts' in the media really know very little outside the top 2-3 sides and players in the draft. I was reading an article in the age that had Harrison Petty under medium/small defenders..... he is 197cm tall!

The Splitting of Pick 8
Depends where we finish, but given there is expected to be 5-6 academy/father sons in the first 15-10 picks it could be a very good result. Also means we get a player in now rather than waiting 12 months. 28 could still potentially be moved up further if other clubs want to deal for certain reasons.

The Splitting of Pick 8
I wonder if that 4th unlocks the possibility of trading 28 down a bit further?
-
The Splitting of Pick 8
Seems to be pick 28 not 23.... Not as great, but I guess it's a free pick for sliding back two spots.

The Splitting of Pick 8
Apparently they can't because we already had pick 22.... some new stupid AFL rule because of the Sydney/West Coast draft tampering last year.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I agree. This is all very grey and it would be ridiculous to stop people trading picks back when there is a specific reason for doing so other than draft tampering, which is effectively what the Swans and WC did. Perhaps the AFL should have been on top of these things before they brought in new rules. Fairly incompetent.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
I think Jackson is 100% locked in at 3. We won't bid on Green just to spite GWS and risk losing him, it's just not the way we operate and for good reason. Focus on your own side not what others are doing. This guy has the potential to be the best ruck/kpf in the comp and could potentially be similar to a Buddy with his elite speed and athleticism. I'm also still of the belief the deal of 8 for 10 + 22 (potentially we may have to flick a late pick next year back) will 100% go ahead, because it just makes sense or both sides. Freo will know there's a high possibility us or Carlton will bid on Liam Henry at pick 8 or 9, so why not move up to 8 and essentially guarantee yourself 3 players in the top 15 of the draft. Pick 22 doesn't matter to them because even if they don't do the deal and Henry isn't bid on, the outcome is still the same (pick 7, Pick 10 and Henry). My ideal draft would be: 3. Luke Jackson 10. Lachie Ash (assumes Young is gone) 22. Kysaih Pickett (assumes Weightman is gone)

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I think any trading we do will likely be done on draft day. Not too sure on time it starts, I assume there's an agreed time the draft begins.
