  1. Stay away from sharp objects Picket......
  2. This is the only way. The US use free agency works well because it works both ways. Players can be traded to any club without their permission while not a free agent, however, once a free agent they can also move anywhere and the team they were playing for isn't compensated. At the moment we have free agency, plus we have a system where players need to agree to trades and therefore 90% of the time get to the club of their choosing anyway. Something has to change with the system!
  3. I think that's where we come in with a trade for Lewis....
  4. I agree. You need more than Tom Mitchell, Tyrone Vickery and Jaeger O'Meara to make top 4. Especially with guys like Burgoyne, Gibson, Hodge, Mitchell & Roughhead nearing the end. The other side of it is the reason they were so successful is they were a well oiled machine. It will take a little while to actually oil the machine again and there is no guarantee it will ever get near the heights they had.
  5. I'd say the assumption is that picks are always going to slide each year with free agency and academy picks. I imagine we are wanting to use our current 2nd round pick on another deal.
  6. Beat me to it! Would be great to have another Irishman on our list again!
  7. Do not rate Langford at all. Played one good game in the Grand Final against Sydney, other than that wouldn't really improve our list at all.
  8. Ahhhh right. That seems to happen a lot. Someone hear's them say Melbourne and they assume they mean the team not the city. I wonder if we are getting involved with the Hawks and Lewis to give them enough picks to get these trades done?
  9. They should list the 2017 picks as well as these are also in play. Obviously not the position but the round.
  10. Someone mentioned they were discussing Tom Mitchell coming to the Dees on one of the radio channels this morning. Anyone else hear this?
  11. Only 27 so doubt it!
  12. The only 4 time premiership player around that age is Lewis & Roughhead (but obviously he is ruled out). Birchall is 28.
  13. With the continuous development of our 19-23 year old players I believe we SHOULD beat the following teams next season: Brisbane, Carlton, Essendon, Fremantle, Richmond, Collingwood, St Kilda, Port Adelaide, North Melbourne, Hawthorn, WCE (if at home). Plus I believe we will pinch 2-3 wins from the top 6 sides. My prediction for next season is 13-15 wins and our first final in 11 years! Go Dees.
  14. Did his time and everyone should move on and give him a clean slate. Hopefully he can fulfill his potential at Melbourne as I think he's a very talented player who's development was probably hindered by the turmoil of the last 3-4 years at Essendon. If we play the bombers round 1 I hope he and Hibberd can taste victory together straight up against their old side!
  15. Totally different players at different stages in development. I watched Steele a few times for GWS and he was underwhelming, I don't see where he would play in our side. Sure he would add some depth but I think the Saints are more interested as they know they will need to replace Montagna soon. Hibberd will be a very good pick up for use and help add experience and stability to our young back line.
  16. Imagine the roar when he kicks his first goal next season in Round 1 as we go on to win by 60 points.......
  17. I think he can be our version of Lachie Hunter. A smart, outside runner who accumulates a lot of the ball. Complements our midfield of Viney, Tyson & Oliver very well.
  18. I think the main problem is that we can't go into next season with Gawn (daylight) Spencer, Mitch King (ACL recovery) and then Max King (likely to be delisted). If we can't find a decent ruck/fwd I think we need to recruit a decent back up ruck such as Zac Clarke as he would add a lot more than Spencer.
  19. I wonder if this extra pick will help us in trading Dunn? May make them more willing to give up one of their 2nd rounders in a swap for other picks.
  20. Genuinely so excited for what this guy could become. I really hope he works hard to get the most out of his talent and help lift the cup for the Dees one day!
  21. I think we could play all three along with a second ruck/forward. Watts plays more as a medium and is extremely mobile, while Hogan is also really mobile and should roam from about 40m out to the backline taking marks. The Weed could be more a stay at home forward and the resting Gawn/ruck 2. You then have Kent, Garlett & Petracca buzzing around in the forward 50 as well.
  22. I'd think the club holds hopes he can become a really good ruck/fwd. But I suspect he would still be 2-3 years off having any chance of getting an AFL game at this stage.
  23. People are shooting down the Zac Clarke option but if you have a look at his stats from the 2013 year (when they made the GF) they are actually fairly solid. We desperately need another backup ruck as we cannot go into next season with Gawn, Spencer and Mitch King as our only options!
  24. Good result. Offers so much more than Dawes and will be a handy back up option for Watts, Hogan or Weed.
  25. Thanks Nasher. I'm so sick of people talking about this theme, it's pointless.
