  1. In relation to some of your points: Luxury Tax: this won't really work as the rich clubs will be happy to pay a little extra. What I think should be done is like the NFL where clubs who finish at the top are unable to enter free agency. This would then limit the players that the top clubs can acquire each year. If this was put in place you could then get rid of the compensation. Exposure: The idea behind this would be to try and get more people watching to help build a supporter base. You can't base your argument on our poorly run club of the previous 8 years. It would mean clubs like the Dog (who I think have been run really well but get shafted), North, Melbourne etc. get to have games at better time slots. At the moment it's the same clubs playing the same time slots each week which is a joke. Salary cap: I didn't realise they have a flexible cap at the moment so if they do that is a positive.
  2. The equalisation of the competition comes down to a few simple issues: - Free agency: there needs to be limits put on which sides can pick up free agents otherwise the top clubs will continue to raid the lower clubs. - Fixturing: the fixture needs to be 'cleaned' up so that clubs like Melbourne and the doggies get an even amount (slightly more even) of exposure as clubs like collingwood and hawthorn (i.e. friday night games). - Salary cap: there needs to be a 'flexible' cap whereby clubs can pay less one year but more the other. It can be assessed over a 5 year period and as long as a club has paid the minimum requirement over those years but hasn't gone over then they are fine. - Sydney and Brisbane DO NOT need academies. They already benefit from father son recruits so they don't need another avenue to gain players. The academy should be kept for GC and GWS for the foreseeable future though.
  3. I think a mixture of trading and drafting. If we can get a player in the 20-23 age bracket who is already an established good player like shiel or coniglio then we should trade. But we can always use our 2nd or 3rd rounder and we seem to do well with these picks.
  4. He is actually 27 not 29. If he was an UFA I would go for him but not for a trade.
  5. It depends where our pick falls. If it is number 5 or 6 then I would definitely swap it for Aish. If it is pick 2 then that may be a different story. Aish was a pick 7 from two years ago and his first season form was outstanding! He averaged over 17.5 possessions per game plus more than 3.5 tackles per game.
  6. Zak Jones seems to be struggling to get a game in the Swans star studded side. I think he could be a great value trade probably only costs a 2nd or 3rd rounder. I would love to see us do the following this off season: - Trade our first pick (likely between 2-5) to GWS or Brisbane for one of: Shiel, Treloar, Coniglio or Aish. - Trade our 3rd round pick for Zak Jones - Bring in a free agent (thinking Scott Selwood) - Bring in a decent ruckman (thinking Gorringe or Leunberger)
  7. I think we may make a play for Coniglio. He is good mates with Dom, is fairly quick and can play outside or inside (more outside though).
  8. God another Neeld disaster. I really liked Stef Martin and thought he had some great attributes and was pretty pi$$ed when we traded him for f all
  9. I definitely think this is very winnable. As mentioned the Tigers have been challenged once this season and lost. If we play the type of footy we did against the crows I think we will win by 3 goals. Play the way we did against GWS and we lose by 5.
  10. Just watched Vince's after match interview. I love the way he goes about it and his commitment. Hopefully it rubs off on a lot of the younger boys moving forward.
  11. Worth a punt as a free agent one would think.
  12. I think I saw Michie in the photos..... maybe needed for Jones if he is injured.
  13. I don't think they realised Gysberts has the work ethic of a sloth.
  14. The eagles have lost Brown and mackenzie for the season, Collingwood lost sidebottom for 8 weeks, North lost dal santo for 8-12 weeks...... get over it ppl! This is why our club is so pi$$ weak, we always have a sad anytime one player gets injured. It's football! We will get key injuries all the time! Great opportunity for Michie to come in and cement a spot!
  15. I agree with the Brayshaw idea. Play him for the first 3 qtrs and then sub him off for someone like JKH or Kent to come on as a last qtr impact player. I would also like to see Vandenberg run through the guts a bit more, he seems like he could more than hold his own in the middle.
  16. Maybe we can keep this going until we've marked them all off. Maybe then we can feel like the team is moving forward!
  17. That's demonland for you Deestar- never do anything in halves!
  18. We needed a forward a few years back and he was the only one we could get at the time. He has been serviceable but hopefully will be overtaken in the coming years which is generally the case with any side. At this point in time, as much as it sucks, he is probably our 2nd best tall forward. Says more about our drafting over the last 5 years than anything else.
  19. I'm really loving our jumper this year. The red is a great colour, there is no stupid collar and the emblem's gone which makes it look a lot better!
  20. I retract my earlier decision to leave out Cross, however I do think we need to drop out one of the tall backs so Frost can play on Jenkins all game and just go in the ruck when he does. That way we can still have the extra mid playing. Possibly VB or Newton out for Michie though I'd imagine Roos may stick with a pretty similar team.
  21. I'm going to go with the following team for round 3: B: Jetta McDonald Frost HB: Salem Dunn Howe C: Lumumba Jones Vince HF: JKH Hogan Viney F: Garlett Dawes Watts R: Jamar Tyson Michie Int: Vandenberg Newton Brayshaw Sub: Kent Outs: Cross, Garland Ins: Michie, JKH - Jamar should ruck 85% and then we can use Frost for the rest and move Watts back while he is rucking - We need more mids so this gets us one extra runner (we will not get close to Adelaide without having a long list of mids) - Crossy has been a great player but I think Michie can do his job better now- He's great for depth though for this season
  22. Jury is still out on Petracca but definitely nailed Brayshaw. He just looks like he relishes the contest, which is more than I can say for a lot of other players in our side. On Salem and Bontempelli, I currently play in a draft league keeper format where you can keep 18 players each season. I am very happy to have both of those boys sitting in my team!
  23. Pretty spot on I think. Bontempelli looks like he could be a genuine A-grade gun and I think Salem isn't far behind. Shows that the Salem/Tyson trade is a win overall.
