We have lost 4 games by a combined margin of 47. We've won 3 games by a combined margin of 90. That tells me we are doing a lot right, but a little luck and a little lack of composure has cost us. Still very positive for the year ahead, and even if we don't make finals the young players are learning to face adversity and be resilient. Those that can't won't make it, but the ones that do will be preparing for an even bigger test, finals footy.

Of all the seasons this person decides to cut up his membership he chooses this one? Must not have been a member in 2012.

Thought I'd start a thread acknowledging Bernie who is set to play his 200th game this weekend. Fittingly it will be against his old club who he played 129 of those games for. He has been a great leader for this club since joining and I think took his footy to a new level. I'd like to see Bernie finish his career playing more forward than back as I think he would be more damaging there.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 7
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I noticed that there also seemed to be blue runners hanging around just outside the Hawks 50 for a long period of time. Were they Hawthorn runners? As it looked like a tactic to try and make it look like there was less space to run into. There should be a time limit on how long the runners can stay on the ground for it was ridiculous. -
Yeah perhaps. I feel like first quarters are more about intensity. After that the game settles and you can just discuss game plan.

Werribee Tigers v Casey Demons
DistrACTION Jackson replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Hogan got 2 weeks for his hit then Thomas should get 4-5! -
surely playing with his good mates Christian and Jayden would add another factor to his decision...... He is worth between 600-800k in a premiership side. $1m in a side that won't win a flag because they pay too much. Which will it be....
-
I imagine he already does..... perhaps the players didn't give 100% intensity?

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 7
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Terry Wallace is a complete nuffy, who destroyed the Tigers list and was proven to be an average coach. Oscar McDonald should be playing at Casey still but we haven't got many options. McDonald is limited in some areas but very good in others. There are not many tall defenders with great decision making skills...... it is why they are tall defenders. -
It may be best for him to take some more time off to get his head right. I know in the NHL Sidney Crosby had a few concussions and ended up being out for a whole year to get himself right. He has a bright future, he just needs to get through this period and get his confidence back.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 7
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great post. I agree with every point. We lost this one at the selection table by replacing Harmes and Kent with JKH and Bugg. They aren't the best players but they have more strings to their bow than those two. -
I want the following changes: Ins: Kent, Stretch, ANB Out: Wagner, JKH, Bugg We are too slow and the three players being dropped all lack leg speed and are being replaced with players with actual leg speed. We also had too many players of a similar build in defence with Wagner in, he should only be required if a backman is out. Final team: B: Jetta O Mac Frost HB: Hibberd T Mac Hunt C: Lewis Viney Jones HF: Petracca Hogan Kent F: Garlett Watts Hannan R: Pedersen Tyson Oliver Int: Stretch ANB Vince Salem
-
Is anyone else a bit bewildered as to why we brought in Wagner after just one game at Casey? He isn't overly quick or tall, and is more suited to the 3rd tall, which hibberd is already playing. I felt like we lacked run in the midfield today and think we lost at selection. Bring in Stretch instead of Wagner and we may have just got over the line.
-
And please bring back Kent for JKH. Seriously, he did absolutely nothing. He isn't quick, isn't skillful. He brings nothing.

WTF was Vince doing?!?! There is 25 seconds left and he holds it up!

Rule change may be to our huge disadvantage
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
Was the deliberate out of bounds rule ever an issue until they started paying ridiculous free kicks in the last season or so? Why don't the AFL listen to their supporters? The majority of people hate the current ruling and also hate the idea of changing to a last touch rule. This makes me so angry and not want to turn up anymore just to spite the AFL, which I'm torn on as I love the Dees! I am so sick of all the rule changes, surely we are the only sport in the world that changes this much year to year? -
Got a feeling they are already at 40k and will be announcing it on Sunday.
-
Johnson is finished. Won't have a spot in this side once Whitfield is back.
-
Shiel has been fairly sloppy with possession though. Would rather have Oliver
-
You won't be able to as you can only switch a like for like. Edit: the only way you can do a switch like that is when you are making a trade. e,g, you could trade the d/f for a fwd and move another player.
-
Slightly incorrect. I believe he kicked a very nice long pass to the advantage of Petracca. Who marked and goaled.
-
The guy has done the following: 2012- 39 goals (regular season) 2013- 37 goals 2014- 53 goals 2015- 45 goals 2016- 43 goals 2017- 9 goals (on track for 33 at 1.5 a game) If you don't think that would be handy for our side then you've got no idea. It's a mute point anyway as was discussed he has already re-signed.
-
Ahhh didn't realize that. Cyril it is then.

So I was looking through the free agents list, which obviously has some great players like Dusty & Fyfe available. I think it is very unlikely we will be chasing after either of those two, as I'm sure we are more interested in developing our own versions in Oliver (Fyfe) & Petracca (Martin). However, one that did catch my eye was Luke Breust, who seems to be struggling a bit this season. Don't get me wrong, I realise he seems to be a bit of a downhill skier at times. But he is a genuinely good downhill skier who could greatly improve our forward pressure. Interested to hear people's thoughts?
