The Cordner dynasty continues with Harriet Cordner

What does this even mean? PC doubt for mentioning family resemblance? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
deanox replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hibberd > Melksham Pretty happy with this. We paid overs last year and unders this year. Both are best 22 and I think Hibberd will be close to top 12 for us for the next couple of years. At his age he is effectively a very good quality upgrade on Matt Jones. Make our list run much deeper. -
Jesse Hogan re-signs to end of Season 2019
deanox replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep good to have you back! And agree 100% that is a bargain for us. -
I'd agree except that Pedo played the season out at Casey despite his injury then got repaired before finals. If we didn't intend to keep him there would be no rush to get him repaired. And if he was getting delisted he'd probably want to play finals first.

I think Hogan's re-signing stamps the papers of either Dawes or Pedo and Pedo is more likely to get on the park. Dawes' contribution to our rebuild should not be considered only his on field performance. Watching him with the players off-field it is clear that he had offered valuable leadership and experience to a young list and probably played an important part in developing a better culture. He hasn't lived up to it on field and we would have loved more output but I think, given where we were at, his acquisition had still probably had a positive impact on our club. Good luck Chris in whatever you are doing next year.

Jesse Hogan re-signs to end of Season 2019

Stuie, you're right. I went back and checked, I'd misunderstood the rules. Even better result for us if FA rules stay as they are. -
Jesse Hogan re-signs to end of Season 2019

He will be an RFA at the end of this contract under current rules. I remember reading the AFL have stated that 2013 as a 17 yo counts towards FA status. -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
deanox replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I understand you can't reveal your source but is it a different source than we've heard reported here recently? Is it a primary source or heard from someone? -
So there are a few of us marcellin boys on here...

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
deanox replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we made finals, or at least finished the year very strongly, I don't think the Jesse Hogan media beat up would be as strong. So a two year extension should reduce the panic next time around - if we are top 4 and challenging there is no way he'll go. If we're languishing outside of the 8 the media will push it hard. -
VFL GRAND FINAL - CASEY SCORPIONS v FOOTSCRAY BULLDOGS
deanox replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hullet needed to kick that running into an open goal. Love what Oliver brings to the table. All class, space in traffic. Love that he keeps hitting Lin Jong on the shoulder to test it out. He is a mongrel like the MFRC hasn't seen for a long time. -

Good tackling from Michie there. -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
deanox replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
The AFLPA should be pushing for a higher "minimum" salary per player. And yes, trade without player permission is required. It wasn't required when the draft was a genuine "stick" for the players, but since they basically choose their own destination regardless of their contract status it is now needed. Just bite the bullet: draftees get 3 year contracts, followed by automatic free agency after initial contract and free trading by clubs without permission at any time. -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

It sounds to me as if we are putting pressure on him to make a decision: stay (extend your contract) or be traded (decide you want to go). I don't mind this approach herbalist especially as I couldn't stand this sort of contract and media [censored] running into next year. But if his dad is actually this sick AND we are pushing him to extend, or could work against us. -
I agree RE forward/ruck. In an ideal world one of your three tall forwards can ruck. Id still look to develop one in case Gawn gets injured or Hogan leaves. On a slightly different note, if actually like to see the AFL ban the third man up. No rule change is necessary: if a third man goes up when the other two ruckmen are engaged in a physical contest for position, then a free kick should be paid for shepparding in the ruck, which is already illegal. Too often do we see one ruck only attempt to negate the other, allowing a free run from a third player and an easy HO to advantage.

Sorry, you're right, I missed him. Correct. I'm not saying they are finished but those 5 have been pretty influential and they'll miss the experience. They will need to make sure a couple of his step into that gap of they want to keep improving rather than hold at this level, when those players drop off. I would agree up until the point that the umpires stepped in to make sure GWS kicked away.

Johnson, Patfull, Shaw and Mumford are all over 30 and all played at least 20 games this year. If they can cope with their loss (especially Mumford) then yeah I agree with you.

I heard a group of older ladies, heavily on the wines, screaming "Go Mike!" every time he got the ball. Then giggling furiously. If I was part of the playing group, he'd be called Mike for sure.

Thanks Samael, that's what I was looking for. Id read one game. And i'd read, an extra game due to bad record. But i hadn't seen anywhere say, reprimand plus one game for the bad record, and just wanted to clarify. I'm by no means a massive Terlich fan but I reckon he has been hard done by at melbourne these past two years. I can't believe that he has been the only player undeserving of a call up in that time. I'm sure there are issues, in all, performance and personality, but it just seems a bit odd. As a result, I hope we get to send him off with a win in the premiership. It would cap a career where he has gotten the most out of his limitations.

About the only constant from 10 years ago is the drinking and demonland. And even those aren't as much as they used to be!
-
KC can you confirm Terlich only got 1 game? I understand he got an extra game due to poor record, but does that mean he was originally found guilty but got 0 weeks?
-
I'd like to clarify that a contested possession is one where the ball is in dispute, not necessarily under physical pressure. Any time you pick up a loose bouncing ball in space, 25 m clear of any opponent, is a contested possession. Hard ball gets vs loose ball gets is a better measure of "hardness" at the contest.

CASEY SCORPIONS v FOOTSCRAY BULLDOGS - VFL FINALS WEEK 1
deanox replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like that no one has been named in the bests... -
Based on my reading of that article however, he didn't actually avoid a drug test as ASADA weren't trying to test him at the time. He just deliberately stayed elsewhere in case they did come for him. And it sounds like he texted his gf to tell her that's why he wasn't home. The strange part is, this suggests he went to the club officials and told them that he had taken something illegal.
