The combined Jaeger O'Meara and Dion Prestia Thread
deanox replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well if you take the 5 above 500k as an average of 600k ($3 million) and the 10 between $100k- $200k as an average of $150k ($1.5 million) you have 15 players getting $4.5 m and the remaining 29 players getting $6 m, or an average of ~$200k each. I'm reading that as about 9 players between $60-100k, 10 players between $100k-200k, 20 between $200-500k (averaging $265k) and 5 above $500k. The median would then be somewhere between $200k-$265k. Effectively, your top 5 players get above $500k. Your next 10 get $265-500k And the next 16-25 get $200-265k. -

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/what-do-afl-players-earn-four-footballers-earn-more-than-1000000-in-2015/news-story/d4b406a2147b77d25d93a61e443d7cff Anyone know their statistics? Only one senior-listed player took home less than $60,000 188 earnt between $100,001 and $200,000 (the most number of players earning between any specific hundred thousand dollar bracket) 95 players earned more than $500,000 The average was around $300,000 Based on that info: There are ~790 senor listed AFL players and only 95 (5 per club) earn more than $500,000. 10 per club earn $100,000- $200,000. And average overall is around $300k. I suspect median is closer to $250k. -
Maybe you'll need to reread the rules of this sport. It's illegal to bump someone attempting to mark. He did not contest the mark, he was late, and just crashed into him getting him high. The impact forced him from the field.
-
He doesn't contest the mark, just crashed into him. And if he didn't get the head, why is Harmes off?
-
Why was that not 50 to Harmes? Should have been reported.
-
Every quarter both teams have done that.
-
Last week we had no right to lose. This week we have no right to be in front. Funny game, football.
-
Seriously?
-
I thought tyson was stiff. Two players sliding at the ball trying to stop the other getting possession. It wasn't one player out in front deciding to knock it over instead of taking possession.
-
Came here to say the same thing. Should have jumped on one of the younger girls for the long term.
-
I know this is trivial but any chance you could post your list without your justification? I mostly read demonland on my phone and by the time you scroll down to a player you forget who was above him!

You've asked the right question. Since we lost draft picks for the salary cap breach (that's where this started, it's been compounded by por drafting and poor development) we have been in the same position; missing at least one generation on our list profile. http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/tp-melbourne-demons?year=2016&sby=15 Right now we are missing more than one. Jones, Jones, Dawes, Garlett and Vince are the only players from the weekend 27 or older. Nate is solid, Vinces' leadership is up and down, most of demonland don't want Dawes in and Matt Jones and Garlett are hardly leaders for their own reasons. This probably sums up why we lost yesterday, and against St Kilda, and against essendon etc. In the next age bracket sit Jetta, Watts, Melksham, Gawn, TMac. Young players who this year (Melksham the exception but I've included him because presumably he'll play next year) have stepped up to be mod range leaders and consistent contributors. Everyone else is 23 or under. The downside: this is going to take longer than people acknowledge. Another two years and we'll have an average age resembling AFL norms and a couple of senior guys (listed above) who will drag us over that line. The upside: if we stick this out and don't burn down the house looking for short term results we will have a super lay, all young, coming through together. Potentially setting up a number of years of opportunity. We can bring in older players but if they are old and good they will cost too much. If they are old and average they won't get a game with our crop of youngsters. Hopefully Dunn/Garland/Grimes/Trengove can come good over the next 12 months and force their way back into the team and add that experience. But that isn't looking likely right now.

Cook was worse than Morton. Morton was widely touted as top 5 and had a fantastic start to his career. Maybe he was never going to make it. Maybe his attitude was not up to it. But a couple of injuries combined with a loss of confidence and a particular coach didn't help. Cook should never have been picked that high.

Any footage of the bite?
-
Lack of composure driven by our deficiency in age, experience and leadership. We're the youngest side in the comp and we've won 7/17 and could have had at least 4 more to be 11/17 with a bit of poise. We're on track. It's a long road but if we are still here in 2018 when our age and experience is on the cusp of league average then I'll be extremely worried.
-
Robbed.
-
We've let them get it back easy today.
-
What a steal for pick 20!
-
Hogan's been ok. Watts hasn't gotten into it but has been clean when he has.
-
We've won two quarters. Should be up by more but have not taken all opportunities and we've let them sneak some they shouldn't have.
-
More [censored] holding the ball free kicks. Like to see them pay that consistently.
-
Dawes cheap goal in the end. Petracca great vision.
-
Surely one of these has to be holding the ball?
-
Now? The movie will finish in time for the game!
