I would take Crouch ahead of Prestia and the decision would be a very easy one.

Greater Western Sydney (a dynasty to rival the Hawks)
KingDingAling replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
Even with superior foot skills to everyone else, Hawthorn were not unbeatable. But they were the best team on the right day (3 times in a row). GWS are no Hawthorn. They will be more than beatable. I'm not really too concerned about a GWS dynasty. They might pinch 1 or 2, but there will be no 5-6 year dominance where other teams don't get a look in. We will get out chance, and if were are good enough to take it we will, if not, there will be no excuses. -
Well I think he'd be in the top 3 brownlow polling atm, and I would have him ahead of Goldy for AA ruck.
-
Comfortably elite. AA ruck man. Just a dominant force. Very underrated ruck man IMO.

Grubby journalists are grubby journalists. Sadly, we have a lot of them in Australia. The term 'grubby journalists' doesn't discriminate by gender. Any person with a set of fully functional set of arms and legs can be a journalist in Australia. All they need is a lack of integrity, questionable set of ethics, and a willingness to get their hands dirty (sifting through rubbish bins, etc).

Fair call jnrmac. Well said.

I have lost respect for Eddie for apologising. That is about it.

Mother/Son and Father/Daughter rules
KingDingAling replied to Demonland's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
I think it is reasonable and straight forward. -
He is adjusting to the pace of AFL (after a long time out). I think he is doing a reasonable job.

The Sweet World Of Christian Petracca.
KingDingAling replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
I still can't believe Petracca slid through to 2. It is something I don't think I will ever understand. -
Demonland Player of the Year - Round 13
KingDingAling replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. Gawn (BOG) 5. Vince 4. Wagner 3. Hunt 2. Watts 1. Petracca -
Double like button.

More often than not class prevails in the wet. Petracca makes it look easy at times as well. McVeigh, Ablett jr, Vince, all classy types, all good wet weather players.

I think Matt Jones is improving. We have players on our list who aren't - or won't. I think M.Jones is still an improving player. I would hold him before many others. Also glad we have Spencer signed till the end of next year. He would most definitely of attracted interest from other clubs. If Gawn goes down (god forbid), at least we will have a back up ruck man. When Spence is fit, he can hold down the fort. I would back him in against the likes of Hampson, Lobbe, Sinclair, Leunberger, and most back up rucks.

Same. Brayshaw is a gun. At the end of last year he looked by far and away the best talent of the 2014 draft. But he has had a slow start this year - not helped by an injury interrupted pre-season, and now a series of concussions. I have no doubt he will be an A grader. Those 4 will make a very ruthless midfield. Very competitive - and physical - young guys.
-
Yeah I agree. I thought he looked good (underdone though). Probably another month away (at least) from AFL level football IMO. Nyuon also looked promising. Very high ceiling as a ruckman, I could not have been more impressed by his tap work (has very deft touch, and is a smart young ruck).

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
KingDingAling replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
I will be pleasantly surprised if Melksham makes the grade next year. -
Beneath the rough exterior is a quality footballer. There are some levels to this kid Bugg. He is a real player. Massive pick up by Roos & co.

Sam THE MAN Frost (defender extraordinaire)
KingDingAling replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
He must show something on the track because his match day performances as a forward have been below average. Looks good as a back though, so I think you are right. McCartney going to have to take the L for the time being. -
I haven't seen the incident, but overall I couldn't care if Garlett shirked a contest. He is a whippet, and a very intelligent player, it isn't his job to go all out. He isn't even that type of player anyway. He is a patient guy who takes advantage of his opportunities - generally kicking clutch goals when doing so.

Kennedy is a perfect replacement for Viney. Run him through the midfield - rotating with Oliver. We are a big chance of absolutely belting Collingwood. I think we might put them to the sword. Moore and Fasolo are bigger losses than people realize. I know Cloke usually plays ok against us, but that was before the emergence of Gawn. If our mids work hard - and it is a big if - then we should be able to push Collingwood's inside 50 entries away from the corridor. At best, Cloke would be kicking for goal on an angle. Outside of Cloke I cannot see them kicking a score. We are a good bet to take this.

Tyson was sublime. That was vintage Dom Tyson, like the guy who arrived at our club and looked an A grader.

At least the State government can re-invest it in infrastructure, education, etc (something that can benefit the broader public). Football clubs not so much. If football clubs need to profit off of terrible life circumstance in order to remain an AFL club - then something is seriously wrong with the AFL system. I don't know what the answer is, but if the AFL cannot see what is wrong with that, then perhaps we need to remove some of those at the top (making the big decisions).
-
I agree. Not only did North opt out, but they have never tanked. The AFL system encouraged tanking, but North never did that either. I actually thought they should have (years ago), but they didn't, and now they are being rewarded. Sure, free agency has helped them, but I think it was more about setting a precedent. Cannot help but respect North. Even though I hate them because they always belt us, I respect them more than any other team. This pokies debacle is another thing North are on the right side of. Good on them. Shame on the AFL.

This is what I hate about the AFL. On one hand they want to be the moral arbiter of everything, but on the other hand they are allowing clubs to profit off of the misfortune of others. But not just others - the misfortune of battling families. Gambling wrecks families, and it wrecks lives. The AFL are perfectly fine with the clubs under their banner to profit off of the hardship of the less fortunate. Anger shouldn't just be directed at the clubs, but at the AFL as a whole.
